  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) Interesting. Hawk talking specifics about Griffey's contract, and DJ relaying a conversation he had with Griffey before the game, where Griffey says he'd go to a contender if the Reds fell out of contention. May very well mean nothing but you know how it works when Hawk and DJ start talking specifics about certain opposing players. Not wanting to start the Griffeytalk thing again, or the pros/cons debate ... I'm just the messenger here. I was thinking the same thing. I'm kinda surprised they didn't mention that the Sox had interest in him last year. By now, I thought that was pretty common knowledge.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) I really think we have nothing to complain about with Contreras. All pitchers have games like this. If by chance he loses, he will be 18-2 his last 20 decisions counting playoffs. Yep, I have no complaints about Contreras. Hatteberg has always hurt us, and they had some soft singles in big spots.
  3. I think AJP was trying to hit a homer
  4. Where's the bat speed Paulie! Two great pitches to hit.
  5. I've said this before.....Ozuna would be the perfect hit-and-run batter.
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) Well, if he loses, at least it was his own fault. He really fell apart that inning and the 3-run inning before it. Yep, if we happen to lose now, it's not a tough-luck loss.
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:13 AM) I really love outfielders that play shallow. When you're playing as deep as Pods was, if its over your head, its gone, and those little bloops, this particular one had some hang time on it, drop in and do damage. It's a sad day when Adam Dunn is far and away the best left fielder in this particular game. Pods needs to get us going this inning.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) Why does Pods play Kearns 3 feet from the warning track? He plays everyone that far away. Maybe that's why he's never thrown out a runner at home in his Sox career.
  9. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) Do you think that was Pods' fault or was it tough to read off the bat because the guy took such a massive cut? Doesn't matter....this is an easy left field to play anyways, with it being so shallow.
  10. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) Atleast if Pablo would have been in left he would have shown some effort for that ball. When they show the replay, he was standing still until about 2 seconds before it hit the ground.
  11. I'm not blaming Ozzie for this, but I'm still puzzled why he went out to talk to Contreras. He was pitching great, and he seemed to lose his release point after Hatteberg.
  12. f*** you Pods. What a horses*** jump.
  13. He's throwing it well Ozzie, don't take him out of his rhythm.
  14. Hatteberg has one of the best "eyes" I've seen at the plate in a long time.
  15. Good AB by Phillips...he'll be on 2nd base soon.
  16. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) No doubt about it. His stuff looks unhittable tonight. It would be a shame if one bad inning snaps his streak.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) How bad would you people say is the dropoff in defense from Pods to Ozuna in LF? On a scale of 1-10, you're going from a 4 to a 2. However, their offensive production is about a 3 to a 7 right now.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Pods is almost completely useless. Let's just hold 'em at three, Contreras. I have no clue why he's playing against lefties now, especially if they cut down on his ability to steal.
  19. Nice walk by Jose. Now our real leadoff hitter can start the next inning.
  20. QUOTE(steve @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) I haven't seen any outfield throwouts to home this season. I don't recall any outfield to catcher assists. There's been a few relays where we got the man at the plate. Reds are playing some solid defense tonight.
