I've heard that the Sox have left him off of the 40 man roster, so he's going to be a FA unless they change their mind in the next few weeks. Any update on his situation?

I've been missing on things, did this in fact happen. Did we already pass the deadline to protect him on the 40 man roster?

I was told that Phil Rogers has an article in the upcoming Baseball America about this.

At least we have Paulino Reynoso and Eduardo Sierra

i thought the 40 man roster didn't have to be set till right before the winter meetings, i could be wrong though.

Phillips is a 6-year free agent

It doesn't have to be... but that doesn't mean the planning and manuvering won't happen before then...

Be a pretty dumb move not to have him on the 40.

must be more to this story.

guy was voted best pitcher in the International League. He's left handed. Below average lefties last forever.

but never a whisper all season about bringing him up.

not even for September.

my guess is they've looked at him, decided he's not a big league prospect because he doesn't have any plus pitches.

wish somebody would explain what the problem is.

Maybe he's not good at/won't throw at other teams batters if one of his teams hitters gets plunked.

Don't know anything about his roster situation, but he is the starting pitcher tonight in Venezuela Winter League team for the Sox.
