This is vintage Sox vs Twins late in the season baseball.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) Yeah, this is getting downright pathetic. Wait until we face Mussina, Randy, Radke, Santana, Silva, and Felix Hernandez next week.

Watching this game, who would have ever thought that one of these guys was the AS game starter, and the other wasn't.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) We suck right now. SUCK SUCK SUCK. Nice to see you come around. Will you now admit that this division is not a guarantee?

If we're going to lose, I really want the Sox to get no-hit. I don't think that makes me a bad fan. Rather, hopefully it would be a slap in our faces, and wake some people the f*** up. As long as it's not a Cubs pitcher, I don't mind it.

Way to go Buehrle!

We're missing these pitches by a foot. Not only that, but the crowd has already been taken out of the game.

Good grief. Someone might want to tell him Santana has a change-up.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) Don't shoot me or anything, but just possibly, maybe we aren't as good as we thought we were. I still think this is a very good team, but how will we match up against the Red Sox, or the Yankees if they get in? You're telling me not to shoot you? I don't think our offense is even in the same area code as other teams in baseball. The fact we're 10 games over two very solid teams in the Indians and Twins totally baffles me. It's my greatest surprise ever in sports.

Never thought I'd say this, but I would do anything for the Cubs offense now.

c***o could have been called out for being inside the base line.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) if it helps, the Sox still have a nice lead in the division. These are the dog days and the Twins, for the first time this season, are playing some good baseball. We'll kick their ass next week at the dome. I agree, it's so weird to think we still have a double-digit lead. Next week at the dome, we likely face Radke, Johan, and Silva.....I don't like our chances.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) I already counted this game as a loss before it even started. I just hope The Tribe loses tonite. Me too. I love the Sox...but I'm absolutely disgusted by their energy level lately, as well as the attitude of the front office. BTW, PK slipped up in the pregame tonight and said how the Sox had lost 5 in a row.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:42 AM) We are lined up with a lot of hard pitching the upcoming week. But when you play the better teams you're going to have to face the better pitchers. And we haven't exactly done well against the better teams this season.

Well, we're f***ed. Another run or two for the Twins, and this game is really a long shot to win. At least Hawk seems a little quieter today. He must be taking the day off from Sox Fellatio 101.

I just want to know where the people who told me to stop being such a pussy for scoreboard watching with the Indians and Twins are now? People might want to b**** at me for being pessimistic, but at least I'm consistent in my belief. I almost got into a car accident on the way to work this morning having to avoid people jumping off of the Sox bandwagon.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) They have beat us the last 4 years, why wouldn't they expect to be us otherwise. No Hunter, Jones, Stewart, or Mauer in the lineup. If we get crushed tonight there are even more serious problems than anyone realizes. The Sox will just say they lost to Johan, that's all. I can't believe the pitching we're lined up to face in the next week or so. We're in a s***load of trouble.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) lol I love it, at least it's lightening up the mood here. I actually think the mood is rather relaxed in here, as most people are just sick and tired of watching this team blow at home. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who have PM'd me and said they're staying away from soxtalk.com this week, as they're expecting the worse.

Ozuna looked real smooth on that play.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) I agree that Santana has more of an advantage than Buehrle, but i like our lineups chances much better against Santana w/ a small zone, as long as they don't flail too much at junk. You're right, there's no excuse to ever lose to a pathetic lineup like the Twins have tonight. However, it just seems like the Twins take the field expecting to beat the Sox.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Damn, same old story different night it's looking. We gotta get some offense going against Santana somehow. I feel we blew our best shot in the 1st since he's normally average in the first inning. He was leaving a lot of pitches over the plate, but of course, all our guys were trying to hit homers. Also, Iguchi had a lot of good swings vs Santana last time he faced him.....sure great we're trying to bunt the runner over. Unless you're pitching Roger Clemens on the road, there's no reason to play for one run in the first inning.

This team is so f***ing flat! What the hell has happened to Buehrle? His command has been pretty awful for quite a while now.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) Good call, but a 9 pitch at bat. I don't think anyone would've thought that. Super, a moral victory

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) Have you seen Minny's lineup though?? Have you seen ours? If both of these guys have to throw pitches over the plate, Buehrle is a lot more likely to struggle.
