QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) this is going to be so f***ing humiliating if we get no hit by santana I must be the only person rooting for the no-hitter? And please, don't say I'm a bad Sox fan for saying that. Sometimes, you have to hit rock bottom before you can regroup.

QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) If any team is so dependent on one person that it cannot win without him, it is in serious trouble. SFF Especially when we're talking about Scott Podsednik, and not a true superstar. Pods being in the lineup doesn't have anything to do with guys like Crede or Uribe.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) that is sad, especially since they lost. Hopefully she understands. Oh yeah, she's tremendous. Also, she felt bad for me cause she knew I had to get up for work about 5 hours after the game, and she's off this week.

BTW, it's great to be able to talk about Sox stuff with fellow fans. I know a lot of us disagree a lot of the time, but it really is more enjoyable than having to watch a game with your girlfriend! Funny story: My girlfriend was gone on vacation for a week, and got home last night around 7. She knows I like to watch the Sox games by myself, so she knew we'd hang out after the game. The poor girl, by the time Adkins had choked, was sound asleep.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) Indians lose. Look for the positive through this crap. Have the magic # go down at least once per day. Exactly. It would be great if teams play the Twins tough the rest of the way. I have no faith in our ability to beat them though.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) WH never had 45BB & 32SB that I'm aware of. Pods definitely was hurt. You could see it when he would take off on the split screen. His initial push-off was slower. I'm not saying Owens is the solution but he's got better instincts as a LO hitter than Timo. I'm just relaying the comparison I heard about Owens from someone who has seen him play a lot. Since I haven't seen him, I'm going with this person's observation. The thing that gets me with Pods is this: If we knew all along we were going to DL him in the 2nd half, why wasn't KW more aggressive in trying to get a 4th outfielder that could step in and play LF if Pods was on the DL? I almost feel like KW spent way too much time trying to do the impossible before the deadline, like getting Burnett to want to resign in Chicago, getting Tampa to not be insane in a trade, and trying to get someone like Billy Wagner.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) Sox don't advance past the first round, or good forbid--collapse before the seasons end, this is going back to Williams. Don't make a deadline move or acquire Griffey, especially after these latest offensive troubles, you'll have a lot of explaining to do. If they make the playoffs, KW is off the hook. IF we don't make the playoffs (I pray that we do make it), KW should be fired. You better believe who our next GM would be......?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) How much of the lead will slip away before they bring up Owens? You mean the next Willie Harris? I'm sorry, but if we expect him to help us at all, we're screwed. I still have the feeling we DL'd Pods not cause he was really hurt, but because we wanted to give him a rest.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) WE ARENT PLAYING THE WAY WE PLAYED WHEN WE BUILT THIS LEAD. WE ARE NOT ADVANCING RUNNERS, WE ARE NOT PLAYING DEFENSE, WE ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE. WE HAVE LOST EVERY BIT OF THE STYLE THAT HAS MADE US GOOD. NOW THE TWINS HAVE IT ON DISPLAY, REMEMBER? WE AREN'T GETTING LUCKY!

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) I'm going for the jinx. Are you seriously rooting for the no-hitter? How would Hawk explain the greatest team ever being no-hit?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) JOHAN SANTANA HAS A NO HITTER THROUGH 4. Since it's likely we won't score 5 runs tonight, I hope he gets the no-hitter.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:20 AM) The funny thing is im not upset. Normally I'd be throwing things. I guess thats what a big lead does. FOR REAL, REAL YO!!!!!!!!! Funny thing is that I agree with you.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) We need to admit that we may be seeing the beginning of one of the largest collapses in sports history. How pathetic. You think this is bad? If the lead gets to like 3, there will be meltdowns of biblical proportions. I'm actually sitting back and enjoying our double digit lead. I'm not sure how much longer we'll be able to say that.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) Ozzie needs to get Burhrle out of here, Give his arm some rest. Put Adkins in and let him get hammered, this game is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO over! Ha, good luck with that happening.

**Official Game Thread: 8/17/05!**
Buehrle continues to struggle against the top teams in the AL. Outside of the Angels, he's been pretty awful against teams like Boston, Oakland, and the Twins. There's not a doubt in my mind that Garland is our ace.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) Time for a MELTDOWN THREAD. No, no, no. Meltdown's can only happen if the lead gets within legit distance, such as 6. I do love how great our manager has been at motivating these guys.

QUOTE(tony72 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) I almost hope the lead goes down ...so Kenny and Jerry realize that this team needs help and snaps out of their complacency... By that time, it will be too late to make an acquisition.
-
**Official Game Thread: 8/17/05!**
Anderson looked pretty s***ty on that play. Buehrle just sucks now. Where's that guy who thought I was dumb for saying I'd take Santana over Buehrle in a heartbeat?

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) 35:1 we don't win the division.... I would take that bet. Not saying it will likely happen, but at those odds, I think the possibility is higher than a lot of other bets at similar odds.

The Twins actually seem like they're having fun playing. The Sox players look like they have a stick up their ass.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) THANK GOD WE HAVE A HUGE LEAD IN THE DIVISION!! Best post of the night. Every day, I look at the date, and just wish it was late September already with the Sox having the lead.
