  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Fathom, how many times have you watched Freddy pitch this year??? He always has problems in the first inning, always. He usually gets out of it with 1 or 2 runs allowed then he becomes almost impossible to hit, hopefully it'll be the same today. Exactly, and Garcia has avoided giving up that one big hit early in the game which would have basically put the Sox in a huge hole. He's playing with fire starting the game without focus, and there's going to be some games where the Sox are down 4 or 5 after the first inning.
  2. Well, we avoided the potential big inning. I'm shocked that a former infielder like Ozzie hasn't realized yet how much Ozuna sucks at 3rd base.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) Yeesh, he'll be fine. Putting your team in the position to get blown out in the first inning is not promising.
  4. Wake the f*** up Garcia. This was not the game to pitch like a pussy in the first inning.
  5. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) I agree with fathom!?!?! whaaaaa? Which must mean it's a really terrible decision by Ozzie.
  6. When is Ozzie going to f***ing learn that Ozuna can't play 3rd base? Put his ass at SS, and move Uribe to 3B. It's inexcusable to put him at 3b for another game. And just like that, Garcia gives up his customary first inning run.
  7. Twins are up 2-0 in the 2nd, and look to be adding more. It would be great to keep the 10 game lead going into the ASB.
  8. Congrats to Buehrle. The NL All-Stars will seem like the Royals to him in comparison with the A's.
  9. Garcia has been great lately, but this is definitely a game where it would be in his best interest to come out of the gates good, instead of allowing his customary first inning homer. The A's are playing with a ton of confidence against the Sox, and a 2-0 lead in the first inning for them just might get the train rolling again for them.
  10. If Crede's back is still hurting him after the ASB, our biggest need is to find a back-up 3B. I don't know how many times Ozuna has to suck at 3B before the organization realizes that he can't play there. You can tell that he's not comfortable, as he has some of the worst footwork I've seen at that position in a long time.
  11. Was there any doubt the Twins would have a rally in this game?
  12. Twins with first two guys on base in the 8th inning. This is going to go down to the wire.
  13. Two positives to come out of tonight's game, from my standpoint: - Walker giving up the long ball. Might eliminate any of the optimism that the staff had for him after last night. He should not be in the majors. - Jenks struggling. The expectations for him were ridiculous after the first game, so now if the Sox do end up trading him, maybe people won't jump off a cliff (that sheep story is hillarious).
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) To think we could still go to the break with our largest lead of the year. Unbelievable. There's a long way to go in this Twins game. The KC bullpen sucks, and the Twins always seem to comeback against the lesser teams (like we have this season).
  15. Haha, f*** you Willie. This is the worst left side of the infield ever! Crede and Widger on the left side was probably better.
  16. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) More exciting than our game. No doubt. Just so you know, I wasn't complaining. I've been following that game all night.
  17. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:21 AM) Maybe we should send Rowand packing for a pitcher and move everett to left and pods to center? If we do that, we have to pray for no flyballs to the outfield. That would be a horrific defensive outfield.
  18. Should we change this to the KC-Twins gamethread?
  19. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) One of those so-called "minor leaguers" that you speak of hit a game winning two run homer off Troy Percival tonight to beat the Tigers. Just thought I'd give you the report. Trust me, there's no bigger fan of J. Gomes than my brother, who worked for the Durham Bulls. However, Gomes also helped out Jenks big time in that game by chasing some fastballs that weren't even close.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Jenks had one pitch that got called a ball which was a strike to walk a guy. But give them credit they used a quick bat through the strikezone to make contact on that hard pitch. If you can't throw your fastball for a strike consistently, it doesn't matter if you throw 99 or 79mph. We all knew that his control was the biggest issue, and it was on display tonight. I said after his first performance, and I'll say it again: If you can use him as the centerpiece in a trade to get a star player which will help this team, you make that trade. It's a great transaction to pick up a player who was released, and turn him into a valuable trade asset
  21. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) What a pathetic letdown tonight. 9 game lead. Probably 8 going into the ASG. The wheels are falling off this team. Visit my nightmare scenario I've mentioned a few times the last two nights. We're putting ourselves in a position to blow a lot of the momentum we had going this season. The wheels aren't falling off, but a lot of games against Tampa and KC lately have hid some of the problems we have, especially on offensive end.
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Tampa can hit. Jenks faced a couple of minor league players in that game, which helped him find a rhythm.
  23. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) We better start praying that Oakland doesn't get the wildcard. Who gives a s***, we have to make the playoffs first. A 9 game (give or take a game) heading into the ASB is no guarantee. We have a very difficult schedule in the 2nd half of the season, and the Twins always play great down the stretch.
  24. Jenks aint facing minor league hitters (Tampa) tonight.
  25. Our catching all around has been pathetic for the last few weeks. Widger should have never thrown that ball to 2nd.
