  1. Great throw by AJ, Jose makes that s*** impossible with his delivery. Excellent play by O-Cab to end the inning.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) While Hafner may kill us, after his down season last year he's fallen out of the top of that list for me. He could easily pick it back up this year though. He's a massive human being with a slightly open stance and a reputation for hitting the ball very hard, even with his terrible '07 season he's still pretty god damn intimidating.
  3. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) hes up there for me, but i dont think hes the #1...top 5 or so though Pujols, Hafner and Thome are all up there especially Pujols and his calm "I know I'm better than you but I don't feel the need to show it with theatrics" demeanor.
  4. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) Are we going to go the next 8 pages and argue this semantically or are we going to agree that we should be playing a different second baseman. Juan Uribe is the best 2B currently on the 40 man roster. Even though I hate him I can't deny that he probably should be playing close to everyday until Richar is healthy.
  5. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) Clearly he CANNOT play second fine. That's some pretty s***ty logic.
  6. The Sox REALLY want you to buy season tickets, it seemed like they gave out the number during every inning of the game on Wednesday and now they're giving away baseballs with sharpie ink stains on them as incentive. Dear god I hate Juan Uribe.
  7. All of Jim Thome's hits this season have come off lefties.
  8. Last year opponents put up a .636 OPS against Nate Robertson the first time around, in their second PA that number jumped to .857, third PA? .880.
  9. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) yeah because what's a +.100 OPS over about the same amount of career ABs mean anyway? When it's the first 400 or so ABs of a career one could argue 'no much'. However I like both players so I don't really care who gets the nod just as long as one of them is getting some consistent ABs.
  10. It's 420 feet to centerfield, 370 to left-center and 365 to right-center and the Tigers have more than a few hitters with excellent power to the gaps. If Anderson is going to get a start this season it should come in this series.
  11. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) He'd bat 7th or lower in the White Sox lineup too. He's not that good offensively anymore. Ivan Rodriguez's OPS was .002 points higher than AJ Pierzynski's last season.
  12. If only the league allowed a player to rehab for 19 weeks . . .
  13. QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) Especially considering that despite his defensive shortcomings, Jermaine has looked awfully good at the plate this series. The Ranger was just speaking to this a few minutes ago, saying he envisions Dye taking over at DH next season. Which begs the question, would we rather have Dye at DH for $11 million, or Thome at DH for $13 million, and what will we do with the other one? Keep in mind Thome's option automatically triggers if Thome reaches 600 PA's this year, or 1,100 PA's between 07' and 08'. I believe Thome had 536 PA's last season, so he would need 564 this season to reach 1,100. Remember, there are rumors of a hand shake deal between KW and Philly that would have the Phillies kicking in some cash (around half I believe) for Thome's option year which would mean you're getting Jim Thome, who put up a .973 OPS last year on a one year deal worth under $10M.
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 12:48 PM) Listening to the post-game, it sounds like Jermaine had a terrible day out there in RF. Any details from those who watched it? He doesn't know how to get the f*** out of the way when there's a high flyball in the gap. There's absolutely no excuse for playing him in RF with Carlos Quentin in the lineup. Jermaine is probably the 4th best RF on this team right now.
  15. Either Grady Sizemore or Franklin Gutierrez take your pick. From a Sox perspective it would have to be the stopper John Danks.
  16. And Brian Anderson wins the game! Spectacular!
  17. QUOTE(Balance @ Apr 3, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) Is Gameday just being slow, or is it really taking this long for Hafner's AB to begin? He just struck out after like 6 pitches.
  18. Pretty f***ing nasty right there by Linebrink.
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong but as of right now Friday's game vs the Preds will not be televised?
  20. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) I turned it on at the start and saw they were BOTH replaced. Thought I had the days messed up and that would be tomorrows match up. What gives? I know Kuo but who the heck is Valdez for SF? Merkin Valdez was once a pretty highly touted prospect for the Giants but TJ surgery has set him back.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) Lincecum in for relief in the 4th inning. Same goes for Billingsley. I suppose the 2 managers just decided to start the game off with relievers since there was a T-storm in the forecast.
  22. Billingsley and Lincecum were both scratched from their starts tonight turning the game of the night into an unwatchable bore-fest. (aside from maybe a few young players on LA)
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) Vazquez vs. Carmona doesn't whet your whistle? I figured most people on this site would already be aware of that matchup.
