  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 10:59 AM) I don't understand how my hate for Uribe can leave so quickly. But, I will Listen to the praise of one of the greatest 2nd basemen ever (Joe Morgan) rather than the soxtalk uribe hate club. And, I usually don't side with Joe Morgan. Joe Morgan also thinks Carlos Guillen is a good defensive 1B. That man has a list of retarded opinions 10 miles long. But yeah Juan Uribe is an absolute stud defensively at 2B I just wouldn't use the opinions of the worst broadcaster in sports history to prove my point no matter how good he was as a player.
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:43 PM) Right now, he is our best option at leadoff. But if we could somehow manage to get someone like Roberts, and move Swisher down, that'd be fantastic. Sadly there's no bullets left in that chamber. I agree that Swisher would be best utilized hitting down the order but there's nothing wrong with having a Grady Sizemore type leadoff hitter (minus the SBs of course) when you have a guy like Thome hitting 3rd and no other real leadoff options. Swisher and Sizemore probably have pretty similar power potential so you're not taking full advantage of that aspect of their game but at least you're giving one of your best hitters the most PAs of anyone in the lineup as opposed to a much less valuable offensive talent who happens to run fast.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 12:51 PM) What, in 16 AB's? Wow, what a huge sample size! Paulie might be going through a bit of a funk right now, and hasn't had great success vs. Verlander, but you don't bench your big bopper vs. a team's ace... especially this early into the season. Plus, Verlander has a great fastball and PK is a fastball hitter. This is as bad as people who wanted Thome benched vs. Sabathia because he hasn't gotten a lot of hits vs. him in 11 AB's. Give me a freaking break... you know you can sometimes overmanage, and benching players like Thome and Konerko vs. a pitcher they haven't had great success in 10 some AB's would be a case of that. I never said it would be a good idea. I was just adding to the thread by giving a possible justification for such a move. You need to calm down when replying, this fiery bulls*** is just going to lead to me ignoring your posts.
  4. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) What I liked too was from McDougal. He didn't crack in the 9th and satrt giving up big hits. The guy kept battling and won He also had no command over any of his pitches once again, he should be catching a bus ride to Charlotte tonight, sadly we're probably stuck with him for a while longer.
  5. QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:59 PM) Ironically, the only ones really not doing much of anything at the plate the last few days are Cabrera, Thome, and Konerko... and you know they will hit, this isn't like 2007 when nobody was hitting at all and everyone was pressing. When they do, my god, watch out. Well, Cabrera and Thome did have arguably the 2 most important hits of the past 2 games. Carlos Quentin is kicking ass on 2 fronts, he's playing excellent baseball which is helping the team win and he's making it a whole lot harder for Ozzie to fit Owens into the lineup when he gets off the DL. He has my undying love.
  6. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) Frank Thomas grand slam against Boston. Most shocking part, he hit a first pitch fastball. I cant remember when Frank swung first pitch, but if he starts doing it more often I think he could put up some solid numbers. And as an added bonus 3 of the 4 runs that scored on his granny will be charged to Josh Beckett. 4 2/3 IP, 6 ER, quite the start to the season.
  7. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:45 AM) I know he is no longer in our organization, but anybody know where Andy Gonzalez is? Did somebody actually sign him? He's with the Buffalo Bison, the AAA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.
  8. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:43 AM) But you don't even want to give Brian a chance? Why does Quetin deserve it and not him? He had a hell of a spring, and we know hes proven on defense, and we're just gonna sit him on the pine. I don't get it. Carlos Quentin is just a better baseball player IMO, he was always rated higher as a prospect, put up much better numbers than Brian in the minors, had a monster rookie season (in extremely limited ABs), finished off Spring Training with some outstanding play and has made the absolute most out of his opportunity to play thus far in 2008. The better question is; how do you justify sitting down Carlos Quentin at this point? I don't think you can.
  9. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) Seriously, I think Anderson is just never going to be given a fair shot. I think I'm finally going to let go and find another manlove. With Quentin's potential and the way he's started off this season there's just no room for Brian. There's no excuse for him not being in CF in say the 8th or 9th inning of EVERY close game this season but aside from the occasional start to give one of the old guys some rest there's just no room in the lineup for Brian Anderson right now.
  10. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) I like Brian, but if he didn't start against Robertson, he's not starting against Verlander...Verlander is one of the last pitchers I'd run a kid against who hasn't even had an at bat this year (i think). At least Anderson has reached base twice (BB & 1B) vs Verlander in 5 career PA.
  11. Konerko has a career line of .150/.150/.150/.300 w/ 7 K, 0 BB and 3 singles vs Verlander. In other words; dreadful. With a contact pitcher in Buehrle on the mound, Konerko's early season struggles to go along with his historical s***iness vs Verlander you could maybe justify the move. One thing's for sure with Quentin in LF and Anderson in center the big boppers for Detroit would have a tough time finding the left centerfield gap.
  12. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:54 AM) When is Richar expected to return? May. He'll probably have to rehab for 2 weeks or so in AAA.

    Ehren Wassermann Freddy Garcia Javier Vazquez Carlos Quentin
  14. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) but what so ever shall we do with Ramirez?? Oh yea! 2nd Base!!! I'll definitely take Uribe over Ramirez at 2B until Richar is healthy. Alexei should be in AAA right now learning how to hit a pitch that isn't a 90 MPH straight fastball.
  15. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:30 AM) I smell a big night for Thome. Career vs Verlander: 7-18, 5 HR, 6 BB, 4 K That's a line of .389/.542/1.222/1.764
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 11:37 PM) So, they're not related at all, like I said. You're welcome
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 11:12 PM) I've yet to unearth any proof via Google that they are related to one another. http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:n9nvD...lient=firefox-a

    QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) He was never ranked highly overall. In 2004 he was rated #76 between Bubba Nelson (#75 - Braves) and Andrew Sisco (#76 - Cubs). That's the only appearance he made on the BA top 100 list.
  19. With a Swisher-Anderson-Quentin 9th inning OF that ball never gets within 4 feet of the ground.
  20. Wow, why the f*** is Swisher still in CF?
  21. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) Linebrink shows all of soxtalk that they were wrong (except a select few like me). It's April 4th. Seriously, the 4th of April.
  22. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) anyone think ozzie will do the right thing and put anderson in center for dye, with either quentin or swisher in left and the other in right? You'll see Quentin-Anderson-Dye in the bottom of the 9th.
  23. QUOTE(Linnwood @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) Is this a contract year for AJP? No, he signed an extension through '10 late last year.

  25. QUOTE(Bhay99 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) There's a huge gap between stud and juan uribe....I want someone in the middle Such as . . . you're right, with all those great 2B out there it's pretty f***ed up that KW didn't acquire one.
