  1. Kenny Rogers already re-signed with Detroit.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) I don't understand why the Sox can't ever flat out win a trade or make a trade that excites everybody. Getting Willis and Cabrera for a batch of prospects would have excited everybody. But I guess our prospects aren't good enough in the eyes of opposing teams. They don't want our lousy prospects. How would you categorize the Quentin deal?
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:46 PM) Willie Harris hates that you have forgotten him and hates that he was not an option, regardless of the fact that he is still Atlanta Braves property.
  4. Good news from Inside the Dodgers for all you Andruw Jones lovers (myself included):
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) God kenny, wait 2 years and sign him as a FA for the same contract but without having to give up so many other players as to screw us over completely. If Cabrera is dealt sometime in the next 3 months (which he almost surely will be) he will not be seeing free agency until 2013 at the absolute earliest. Waiting until 2009 to avoid giving up talent will not work.
  6. THE BREWERS CAN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TRADING LAPORTA UNTIL JUNE.
  7. I thought they couldn't negotiate with him until the end of the season?
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) Is it even worth noting again that Owens's OBP was actually approaching respectable for a leadoff hitter during his second callup, and his patience in the big leagues improved each month he was up? Is it worth noting that his BABIP was insanely high during a large portion of his second callup? And despite the fact that he was hitting .340 for September he still couldn't hit a double to save his life and STILL couldn't crack a .400 OBP? Do we really need to throw the same numbers around for the 100th time? I don't think Owens is a very good baseball player, certainly not the starting CF and top PA earner on a championship team. You feel differently, somehow I doubt our opinions will change much before the start of the '08 season.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) Jerry Owens, who if this goes down we pencil in to CF. If they make another move for a CF, then I'd say it's possible that we'll see a 1-2 of Cabrera, Quentin. If this trade does mean that we'll be seeing either of Owens or Cabrera leading off for this team in 2008 then I f***ing hate it. Cabrera is an ideal #2 hitter, his talents would be wasted in the leadoff spot and I just hate the idea of some little .320-.330 OBP, .330 SLG%, speed guy taking the leadoff spot, it's just so silly IMO. It really sucks that baseball people have taken to the idea that low OBP + lots of SB = ideal leadoff man.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) Fukodome to lead off and play CF perhaps? Is he that type of hitter (I must confess I have only seen a few numbers on him). IMO yes. He usually has an incredibly high OBP (.400+) so yeah he'd be a great fit at the top of a lineup that features quite a bit of power in the middle.
  11. QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) I'm a big fan of this trade. I'm a fan of Carlos Quentin, and there's a reason why he was considered one of the top (50/100) prospects in baseball in 05 and 06. He was #20 in 2006 and #22 in 2005. Talk about an inspired trade. This could go down as one of KW's best, trading a single A DH for a player with Quentin's upside is downright brilliant.
  12. From Rotoworld via The Washington Post:
  13. Isn't Heath Phillips out of options? Just based on the way he plays baseball he has no value to anyone, being out of options would not help matters.
  14. If I'm Rolen I'd much rather play for the Brewers for the next 2 years than the Cardinals. One team is young, talented and going places the other is a f***ing mess of an organization and will find themselves in the cellar of the worst division in baseball if they continue their cheap ways. He's going to make a pissload of money no matter where he plays next year, might as well play for a winner.
  15. Yep in the latest Bill James Handbook Andruw Jones ranked as the top defensive CF for the 2007 season in his Fielding Bible Awards.
  16. Jones would have made at least $16M in arbitration next year, they didn't want to pay that. Even if you have a "brutal" season you never see a paycut and almost always see a payraise.
  17. If the Dodgers miss out on Cabrera they'll just make a deal for Tejada and put him at 3B. Why in the hell would they give up a stud like Kemp for a mediocre chronically injured player in Crede when Tejada can be had for a reasonable price? IMO Andy LaRoche will be a better player next year than Joe Crede.
  18. He can be signed at any time, he's looking for a pretty lucrative major league deal however and his DWL numbers are very disappointing so far.
  19. He's Cuban, he defected to the DR and is now playing in the Dominican Winter League.
  20. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Another guy I think KW should maybe look at from the Orioles..Brian Roberts. No idea what they would want for him but he could certainly answer that leadoff spot...and is a decent 2b. And Chris Ray and Nick Markakis. They all have something in common: they're all young, inexpensive in their own way and will not be traded anytime soon.
  21. QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 08:05 PM) if I recall correctly, he'll be out for a good portion of the 08 season as well. Bradley is hoping to be ready for Opening Day 2008 FWIW.
