  1. I keep reading that Fuk wants a 3 year deal, no more, no less so he can hit free agency again before his 35th birthday. So if that is true it'll just come down to who guarantees him the most money, years won't be a deciding factor unlike the other free agent outfielders.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) Coco actually has sucked more than a year now, Aaron has been great for more than a year now and yet Coco gets the love? I think it's the fact again we always hate on our own ... the players we've seen day in and out. Rowand is way better option than Coco. That said ... Aaron is not a savior. If he was the Phils would sign him. Not consecutively.
  3. KW likely talked to Cashman about a number of players (Melky, Matsui, Damon, Abreu) since the end of the season. I doubt they've talked since the acquisition of Quentin.
  4. QUOTE(toasty @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 01:11 PM) i find it so funny that so many of you are bashing hall, after all of the hoopla and excitement after signing him last year. And notice how no one is getting on KW for bringing in Toby Hall. People know it was a pretty good signing that just hasn't worked out.
  5. I find it funny that so many of you think Miguel is a plus defender because all Marlins fans seem to do is b**** about his defense. In his 2 years with the Marlins he's committed 19 errors and has allowed 26 passed balls. Maybe just playing in South Florida but since joining the Marlins Miguel has been incapable of holding onto a pitch.
  6. Splits vs LHP: 2007: .295/.343/.463/.806 Career: .291/.319/.524/.843 Any team that signs Miguel will have control of him for 2 years since he'll still be ARB eligible in 2009.
  7. Even with his career year in 2006 Crede still couldn't even make it to Type B status for this offseason, he won't bring back any sort of compensation unless he has an MVP caliber season and even then he'd only be a Type B free agent. Crede will probably agree to a 1 year deal worth around $5M before the Wednesday deadline, he won't be non-tendered, the Sox wouldn't let it end that way.
  8. Pierre: 4 yrs, $36.5M Crisp: 2 yrs, $10.5M + $8M TO/$500K BO for '10 Roberts: 2 yrs, $14.3M
  9. Even if the Orioles were interested in Poreda he can't be traded until mid June and can not be included in any deal as a PTBNL until January 16th 2008.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) Yup. I'd think a package of Richar, Broadway and Sweeney? Would that equal about what the cubs are offering? I know Bal wants OF'ers. I dont know all that much about our prospect rankings this year. I think you have to include Gio in a deal for Roberts. The Orioles are notoriously tough to deal with and have no problem holding onto their star players if not overwhelmed during trade talks. I just don't think Angelos will allow McPhail to trade the current face of his franchise without getting at least 1 damn good prospect back in the deal. Substitute Gio for Broadway and I think you may be onto something.
  11. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) He probably also doesn't want any leaks like with Hunter. I wonder if the Sox organ-i-zation is having Iguchi and Shingo call him? I hope we get him, but I hope we don't overpay. BTW, how old is he again? 30? He'll turn 31 in April of next year.
  12. From Rotoworld via The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
  13. Sadly House is now in re-runs but the last episode before the break was f***ing classic. The final scene from that episode was a perfect example of why that show is so great. Yesterday I went back and watched the first 3 episodes from season 1 and I gotta say 3.5 seasons later and the show hasn't skipped a beat, it's just as good as it was at the beginning, it would be a damn shame if Hugh Laurie went and f***ed this up.
  14. From the Boston Herald: So the Dodgers offered Kemp and Broxton and the Orioles countered with Kemp, Kershaw and LaRoche.
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 01:12 AM) It can't fall much farther. Pierre's about as reliable as Rowand at the plate and he's a passable LF/CF. Rowand is a better offensive player than Pierre and light years better in the field. The real question should be; is Juan Pierre, at this point in his career, really that much better than Jerry Owens? The answer . . . no. Especially when you factor in the 4 years and $36.5M remaining on John Peter's deal.
  16. Sure, if you'd like to make the team worse.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) Isn't Dontrelle very good against lefty hitters? 2007 splits: vs RHB: .320/.392/.527/.919 vs LHB: .123/.215/.142/.356 Not bad
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Dude, there is no way that putting up a 3.92 ERA in the NL Central last year is just as good as putting up a 4.23 ERA in the AL Central. Heck, Hill gave up nearly 10 more home runs than Garland while we're at it. I may know that and you may know that but I'm not convinced all baseball people believe this to be the case. People seriously love Rich Hill as a pitcher, for whatever reason that big hook carries a lot of clout with major league executives. But yeah, I agree Garland is definitely the better pitcher.
  19. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 07:00 PM) That was my point, not that Hill pitched better than Danks last year. If Hill nets more than Jon Garland for the cubs, KW should be fired. Floyd I believe could have more value than Hill. I think this Board has taken to the fact hat the Sox farm system is complete garbage and every other team is stocked. That just isn't he case. If the Sox suck this year and get a #4 pick in 2009 and get a couple of picks for Cabrerra in the offseasn they will have a farm system in the top 5 but A)They have to suck and B)They have to spend on draft picks. The guys the Tigers gave up were both Top 10 picks. Really? Because Rich Hill is still 5 years away from free agency (unlike Garland who is 1 year away), will make less money over the next 5 seasons combined than Garland will make in just 2009 alone and was just as good of a pitcher as Jon Garland last season. Rich Hill has considerably more value than Jone Garland at this point in their careers.
  20. We have now come full circle in Brian Roberts trade package speculation with this note from Rotoworld via the Baltimore Sun: From Rich Hill and Sean Marshall to Pie, Marshall, Gallagher and Veal to just Gallagher and Murton.
  21. You don't even talk to Luis Gonzalez until after the Mitchell Report is released.
  22. I love stuff like this: ". . . plays all infield positions." Saying Jorge Cantu can play all infield positions is like saying Paul Konerko could play centerfield. In theory, yes Konerko could handle physically standing out there between Quentin and Dye but when it came time to make a play on the ball you're going to be very disappointing in the results. Cantu is a DH and is probably a few months away from playing in Japan or Mexico.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) Did someone sign him and I missed it? He's reportedly narrowed his list to the Cubs and Royals.
  24. If the money were the same -- which I think it could be -- I'd much rather have Andruw Jones over Rowand.
