  1. Here is an article from Duber: https://www.google.com/amp/s/sports.yahoo.com/amphtml/ex-giants-manager-bruce-bochy-173541676.html
  2. Has anybody mentioned Bochy?I thought he wanted to manage again and he would check a lot of boxes.
  3. The great thing is that when he wins again in 2020 there is a chance Ginsburg will be gone and he will get to nominate a 3rd!!! Great days ahead!
  4. This is seriously ridiculous. I think we are all for LEGAL immigration but they are abusing the system. Also since when did SOXTALK go political?
  5. Any chance this is put out there to try and pressure another team Hahn might be in trade talks with?
  6. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) Yes. And multiple World Series appearances will likely follow as long as they use this approach for most roster decisions going forward. So our FO should pull a Costanza......I agree 100%. If this is the case then the first thing to discuss is a long term extension for KW
  7. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Oct 25, 2012 -> 09:42 AM) Eh, his September gives me some hope. I say we give him another chance, at least he is very solid at defense. Quick request...does anyone have his numbers when he was batting 2nd in the lineup? I thought he was really hitting a stride until we picked up Youk and dropped him back to 9th.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) While I 100% believe k0na that a deal is done, I give these figures about a 1% chance of being true. Mark just got $14.5M per year to pitch from age 33-36. John is getting no less than $15M per year to pitch from age 26-30, even with an extra year on the deal. My guess would be 5 years and something between $75-80M. Any chance KW realized that he wouldn't get anything for JD on the last year of his contract. Maybe he is planning on signing him then dangling him out there to other teams now that he is under control for 5 years.
  9. QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) How long til JR says.... "why are we looking outside for a bench coach when we have Buddy Bell?" No go on Buddy Bell. They said they need to seek permission which wouldn't be the case for Bell. Also he said he didn't want the manger position because of all the travel so why would he agree to be the bench coach for less money/power with the same travel.
  10. I am very excited about these first two games and really wondreing if Ozzie will keep the hot hitting line up in tact or are we going to see Brent L. Omar, and Teahan in the infield tomorrow?
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) According to few sources the A's met with Adam Dunn as well as Lance Berkman yesterday.. meanwhile Kenny Willams is no where to be found Don't be surprised if KW goes with a D Lee as a typical KW/JR pick up. Not too expensive after last years performance. Possibly heavily incentive laden.I could see them picking him up on a one year deal and have him split time with Dayan. I am not saying I like the idea but just that I could see it happening.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) There might not be a way to "handle" Linebrink. He's pitched barely over 100 innings the last two years. What are we gonna do? Try to limit him to around 35 IP? For whatever reason he's become a 1 half pitcher. Doesn't really make any sense. That's the craziness that is baseball. Which Laroche brother is it that goes from replacement player in the first half to Albert Pujols in the second half? There's just no way to explain it. I wish it wasn't true but there is a way to explain it. PED cycles. In most cases they are steps ahead of the testing. JDs bug drop in the second half? Not to rain on anyone's parade but it is part of the game.
  13. QUOTE (sam785 @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) Im driving from Central IN and want to avoid $23 parking without getting my car stolen, where should I park, or where should I park downtown in order to ride the train. One thing that may work for you is to come in a little early and park at Connies Pizza on Archer Ave. They offer free parking and a "free shuttle" to and from the game. The pluses are its free and why not spend $23 and get a late lunch or early dinner. I will warn that the "shuttles" are actually their delivery vans that can hold about 4-5 people at a time so you may have a little wait after the game. I believe the pick up spot is at the Italian/American Club a few blocks north of the cell. We actually use this alot when we are taking multiple cars to the game. we all meet there, eat lunch, and then all pile in one car and go to the game. After the game we get a ride back or wait for the shuttle.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 06:40 AM) I didn't learn about this trade until late last night. And the first thing that popped into my head was that I'm 100% certain that all of Soxtalk is going absolutely apes*** right about now. And after reading through this thread, you guys certainly didn't disappoint. First of all, who the hell is anybody from this god damn message board to say with absolute certainty (or even 50% certainty) that the Sox "could've gotten more" for Brandon f***in' Allen? Unless you can find a direct quote from any one of the 28 other general managers in baseball clearly stating they would've traded the Sox a lot more than Tony Pena for Brandon Allen then please, with all due respect, STFU! Because all you do is make yourself look and sound incredibly stupid. I like this board overall. But the ignorance/arrogance around here at times is simply incomprehensible. Unless your JPN or Scenario or BHAMBARONS and you happen to live close by one of our minor league affiliates or you're a subscriber to MILB.com, most of you have never seen a single f***ing live Brandon Allen at-bat. And that includes me. s***, I love to track prospects. But I have no first-hand knowledge about any of these guys. All I can do is go by stats, scouting reports, ect. Yet we've got message board "experts" around here on their f***ing high horses acting like they know more than guys that get PAID FOR A LIVING to scout and break these guys down? Get the f*** outta here. Brandon Allen for the most part appears to be a solid prospect. He could be really good, bad or somewhere inbetween. Who knows? And we won't know for a while. So let's stop acting like we traded away the next Ryan Howard. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!! Legend you hit it on the head. I have found myself coming to ST less and less for the exact reasons you mentioned. I am giving KW the benefit of the doubt on this one. The question I pose is as of today are we a better team with Tony Pena than with Jimmy Gobble? I think we know the answer to that. So lets all take a chill pill and let this play out.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) I'd be interested in some White Sox thoughts by Jack Handey. Just an FYI. My brother was telling me that GB is a big fan of Jack Handey and there are apparently some videos of him doing his own "Deep Thoughts" on You Tube. I am at work and cannot access it from here.
