  1. KW goes out and makes one of the best signings of his tenure as White Sox GM and it takes Ozzie less than 3 weeks to f*** it up. Super.
  2. QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Sox have 36 GIDP this spring. The most of any team in baseball, Oakland is just behind them at 35 and it's a pretty big drop off after that.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) I'm sure we're near 40 DP's this spring training. It has been ridiculous. 4 today?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 05:20 PM) What happened to Hall? And yes, it's idiotic to put him at a position he's not familiar with. He almost injured himself with an awkward stretch earlier. He dove to his right side and landed awkwardly on his right arm (not important for a catcher at all) looked like he either dislocated his shoulder or hyper extended his elbow - both worst case scenarios. He more than likely just jammed his shoulder or something something though and will be held out of the next 2 games.
  5. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) To give him some AB's, and 1B is usually not an injury prone position. who the hell is this coming in right now? Okay, it is Dwayne Pollock... Tell that to Frank Thomas. There's no reason for Toby to be playing 1B in the 8th inning of a blowout Spring Training game in late March.
  6. So Mark what's your new lame ass excuse for getting your ass handed to you by a rag-tag group of AA hitters? Oh wait it's Hawk asking the questions.
  7. April is going to be a fun month offensively for this ballclub. 2 runs per game for the first month of the season and a combined 15 RBI for the 3-4-5 in the batting order.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) I wonder if Hawk is going to be saying all year that we're the most talented team in the majors, and it's just a matter of time before we gel? Well as of late September he was still using that line so I don't see why he would stop now.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) According to Hawk Loe has the best sinker in the entire world, in fact I think he is using some sort of gravity device to pull on the ball more. Then again, it could be hawk talking up another pitcher he thinks will shut down our lineup. He also called him Kameron Long, so maybe he was talking about another pitcher. Perhaps a pseudonym for Roy Halladay?
  10. So are there still people willing to hand Buehrle $60M over 4 years right now?
  11. I normally love Hawk and all but he's going to be insanely annoying this year, I can't even listen to him during Spring Training anymore. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) There's our top of the order. Two soft outs; Thome up with no one on base. Get used to it, you're going to be seeing that A LOT this year.
  12. Kameron Loe has been rather impressive this month.
  13. Pods, LF Erstad, CF Thome, DH Crede, 3B Iguchi, 2B Perez, 1B Hall, C Uribe, SS Anderson, RF Buehrle pitching. Adam Russell in relief. Konerko and Pierz played in B games this morning. Per Reifert:
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) The game I am remembering was in Detroit, correct? The reason I remember it was because we made the trip up to Michigan for it. Good times. Yes the game was played at Comerica, sometime around the 10th inning a giant fireworks show started not far from the park and was visible in CF, Hawk wouldn't shut the hell up about it. Great game.

    Thank you assholes.
  16. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) Would his teammates really be let down or the organization disrespected considering the cause he's promoting? Particularly football. I'm not familiar with what the punishment would be in baseball, though. But it would've been impressive if he took the fine, assuming it's just a fine, while continuing to champion and bring more publicity and awareness to the cause. Kinda like Jordan paying the fine to wear his black and red Air Jordan Is, but for a greater cause. Nobody hated Jordan for it, and I don't see who would dislike biggio for it considering what the pin represents and how long he's been doing it, assuming the penalty is just a fine. But either way, he seems like a classy guy, and respecting the sport that pays you by following the rules is commendable too. His teammates would not have seen it that way but Biggio would have. Craig wouldn't have been allowed to play with the pin on his hat, the umpires actually went out and examined Biggio before the game, if he were wearing it and refused to take it off, they would have removed him from the playing field.
  17. I'm almost ready to concede and accpet the fact that Erstad will be starting in CF, no matter how hypocritical and stupid I may think the move is, it's likely going to happen. I just don't want the guy hitting second, I could really care less how much power potential they think Iguchi has he's the best 2 hole hitter on the team and one of he best in baseball, he's much more valuable hitting 2nd where he can do some of the little s*** than hitting 7th or 8th and swing for the fences. It seems odd that they'd want to move Iguchi out of the 2 hole anyway, for a team that preaches 'smallball' moving your best 'smallball' player down in the lineup and asking him to play longball seems a bit odd. Erstad has been terrible at the top of lineup this Spring, his 12 Ks, 3 BB and .333 OBP are exactly what this team doesn't need at the top of the order same goes for his 421K:197BB and .324 OBP over the past 6 seasons. If Erstad is going to start, I'd much rather have him hitting 9th and Iguchi 2nd. It just seems ridiculous to give one of the worst hitters on your team the second most ABs of any hitter on the club.
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Who cares what the minor leaguers think about how Anderson has been handled? The minor leaguers should try to make the majors and shut the bleep up. Anderson sucked at the plate last year. He sucked. Plain and simple. If he produces, baseball men like Oz and KW will play him. He he continues to be an automatic out, he won't. Personally I wish we still had BMac as No. 5 starter, but as far as Anderson, he needs to produce or get what he deserves, the bench. Do you think Brian Anderson's spring performance has earned him the starting job in CF? Just as Ozzie said, if Anderson steps it up in Spring and outperforms his competition the starting spot is his. Just curious.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) The OF situation has gotten so messed up, all I can do is shake my head. It's amazing how good Rotoworld nailed the situation, without watching the Sox as much as any of us do. Wow absolutely spot on, not a damn thing I disagree with in there. Also note Erstad's pathetic 3BB:12SO this spring (talk about a joke of a 2 hole hitter) compared to Anderson's 6BB:6SO.
  20. QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) I seem to remember a game against Detroit in 05', in the bottom of the 9th inning. Cliff Politte was pitching, coming in to clean up somone's mess (Cotts?). Anyways, 2 out, bases loaded, tie ballgame (this may have been the game IRod led off the inning with a triple, and was doing his stupid celebration over there on third?), I believe Brandon Inge at the dish. Hits a groundball DEEP into the hold at short. Juan, ranges far to his right, backhands the ball in the outfield grass, plants one foot, and rockets one over to Pauly, just in time to get the speedy Inge at first, and preserving the tie. We go on to win in extra innings. We won so many games like that in 05'. What a great year. I believe that was the Frank Thomas extra inning HR fireworks game and wasn't it Polanco running down the line? But yeah, if Uribe doesn't make that play the Sox lose that game.
  21. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) Not to be the bad guy here, but if you allow something as little as this to happen, it's going to open up the floodgates for other stuff. This has been going on for a long time in sports. I agree, the league dress code is there for a reason and allowing one thing to be done could set precedents for others to do whatever they want with their uniforms. Except Biggio has been doing this for the past 20 years, to just now decide that enough is enough is a f***ing joke. If the commissioner's office has such a problem with this then it should never have been allowed to begin with.
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 01:21 PM) Also: MLB might've banned him from the game. and by "from the game," I don't mean "from the game" I mean from "The Game." Eh, I don't really read any of the Pete Rose threads so your Pete Rose jab didn't show through in that post initially.
