Perhaps it's about time they called this one. Gavin obviously can't throw in the rain, I'm not sure he's even capable of retiring a batter the rest of the way.
-
I think Gavin may have just f***ed himself.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) Herasy!!!!!!!!!! Our manager will have none of it. Why not give Ozuna a shot against righties???? Maybe he can learn ot be something out there or play the infield a tad more often. I'd rather not have Ozuna learning on the job in LF this year, I could probably tolerate him playing LF against lefties since that is not the majority of the time but anything more than that becomes a major defensive liability. I like the amount of ABs Pablo got last year, it seems like the perfect amount for him and in a platoon situation he would probably get a similar amount. I really don't want Ozuna taking ABs away from Iguchi.
-
A Mackowiak/Ozuna platoon in LF looks sooo good right now. Aside from the obvious defensive problems that come with putting Pablo in the outfield.

Comcast's gun doesn't seem to be working right now. The Colorado broadcast has Gavin sitting at about 93 MPH.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) podsednik looks so slow There's no reason for a speed guy who's at 100% to be doubled up in a situation like that. Podsednik obviously ain't right.

Danks pitched pretty damn well today. 4IP, 1H, 3BB, 2K, 0R He didn't seem to have his good change today and was having a little trouble finding the ump's zone with his curve but he was spotting the fastball when it mattered most and severely limited his mistakes. He is now in the lead in my book. He also has an impressive pickoff move.

Anderson with the base knock.

I think Toby was trying to nail the runner in the dome. Danks is awesome.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) I recognize that ugly MOFO. Why would they put him on tv? It's not like this is the first time either, it's like the producer is seeking him out or some s***. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) SnB, am I right? si

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) Veteran pickoff move by Danks John Danks is quickly becoming my favorite player. He's so insanely likable.

Sox go 1-2-3 in the first. GREAT START BUTTLICKS!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) What episode is it that Cox goes on a rant about marrying a moment, and then later talks about divorcing that moment, marrying the new moment and having a bunch of baby moments to remember it by??? Season 4, Episode 11: My Unicorn. Mathew Perry is brought in by JD to give his ailing father one of his kidneys despite Cox' warning not to get involved. M Perry's character promptly demands a large sum of money from his father for the kidney. Cox then goes on his little rant. One of my favorite episodes. "You seem like the sort of sensitive young chap who likes to chronicle his feelings."

Good for him, he'll likely make that joke of a 30 million dollar bullpen.

But what about Morrison and his 37% from the field, lower FT%, lower 3P%, less ppg, boards, blocks and assists than Roy? What a colossal pile of s*** that guy is going to be. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Yeah supposedly thats what we ALL saw in him. Of course considering he has been equally effective vs lefties and righties this ST and he has shown that he can pitch for over 1 inning, its not out of the question to think he could be a middle reliever. Everything about Boone points to LOOGY though. His delivery is deceptive but especially to a left hand hitter, the angle he's coming at will kill lefties but gives a pretty decent view of the ball to righties and even his stuff screams LOOGY, his little 92 MPH fastball isn't exactly going to blow hitters away but that paired with an ok slider against a left handed hitter should be more than enough to get by with. There's nothing about Boone that screams long man but a whole lot that screams LOOGY. And who in the hell uses a competent lefty reliever as a long man? Those are hard enough to find, I don't see the use in wasting him as your go to guy in blowouts when you have much better candidates for the job and a few open spots (Masset, Haeger and Floyd).

Would you make this trade with the Phillies ?

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) For this year, I'd rather have Leiber. Leiber is still a decent pitcher that knows how to win. I'm not happy with any of the Sox alternatives for the 5th spot now and I think that it's gonna kill their playoff chances. Danks looks real good but I think he's being rushed if he's the 5th starter. Floyd just flat out isn't good enough and, no, he isn't nearly as good as Leiber right now. Haeger ? Who knows ? I like him but don't think he's really ready either but I might take the chance on him of the 3 right now. That's my point of view - low opinion of Floyd and I would feel much more comfortable in trying to win this division in 2007 with a decent proven major league starting pitcher in the 5 hole. Jon Lieber is 37 years old, makes $7.5M this season, has major injury concerns (hurt all of last year), has been on the decline ever since arriving in Philadelphia and was especially terrible last season. At some point "proven major league starter" gets canceled out by "old, expensive and bad". I would rather have signed Mark Redman as a non-roster invitee and have him compete with the 2 youngsters than bring in an old, expensive, broken down starter and hand him the job. For a pitcher who knows how to win that 9-11 record from last season is less than impressive. Hell even Gavin Floyd had a winning record in his 11 s***ty starts with Philly last season. -
Podsednik, LF Ozuna, 3B Konerko, 1B Dye, RF Cintron, 2B Hall, C Uribe, SS Anderson, CF Danks, P Gavin Floyd will be piggybacking Danks today as the Cat Fight for #5 continues.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) What do you think Boston would give right now for McDougal..... This would be like asking for Coco Crisp (is he with Boston) and Matt Clement (is he still inbaseball). The Phillies need pen help in the worst way. That's actually a pretty decent comparison, Clement makes $9.5M a year ($2M more than lieber), is younger and just as useless, Crisp on the other hand is a much better fit for the Sox than Rowand since the presence of Crisp would make Podsednik expendable (not that he isn't already). With that said, it would never happen for many reasons mainly because KW wouldn't do it. -

Talk about an absolutely terrible trade. Ship off the best reliever the Sox have along with their best bench player (and probably a pretty decent prospect as well) for a 38 year old bad $7.5M starting pitcher who as of Wednesday was going to be in the Phillies bullpen because he's not even competent enough to push Adam Eaton for a spot in the rotation and we'd add another 4th OF to the fray except this one makes over $4M a year. If you add Rowand and Lieber while subtracting Mack and Mac that adds over $9M to the payroll with no significant upgrade. That would put the season payroll at over $110M for the start of the season. Someone else would have to go. -
Congrats to you sir. I'm glad everything went well, here's to a smooth transition into your new life style.

I just finished the episode and I have some thoughts. - That's the most Laverne intensive episode they've ever had, it started getting pretty obvious what was about to happen and frankly it doesn't really bother me that they went about it that way. This is going to change the Scrubs, I'm not entirely sure how yet but it's definitely going to have a profound effect on the show. I'm going to say it now, Cox is about to go all born again on your ass sometime soon probably after either Laverne or Jordan die (tell me you weren't thinking that for a second there). I'm not entirely sure why he was bald in the clip show but it all ties together some how. - The Hot Nanny? Not so hot. Great body and all but she was quite fugly, this bothered me throughout the entire episode. - And the gay football player scene? One of the best in the show's history. Just funny as hell. JD (with hot nanny by his side) - *football players enter* "The 3 football players that used to beat me up in High School . . . what are you guys up to now?" Football player - "We're all gay together." *flash wedding rings* "Remember Kristen Fisher?" JD - "Of course, you turned me down for Homecoming and Prom even though I didn't ask you to either one." KF - "Well I'd love to make it up to you and have sex with both of you. If that's alright with you Heather?" Heather - "As long as we make it all about JD." Football player (to other football players) " Enough of this, lets go bang" *high fives*
