  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) THE GRINDER SUPER HEROES $$$
  2. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) if anybody is taking bets, BA is either going to the minors as some kind of punishment or going to another team in a deal. And if they send him down, be interesting to see if he holds his fire or speaks out and ensures a deal. He'll keep his mouth shut in the media. I think Brian knows what's best for him and that's not doing any more damage to his reputation. If he keeps his mouth shut for the first 3 weeks of the season he should get the callup by the beginning of May when one of the starting outfielders goes down with an injury.
  3. QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) grinder talk again... See that's why I love picture in picture. I can watch and listen to the Wisc/A&MCC game in HD while also watching the Sox and not having to hear Hawk babble about bulls*** like that, fun.
  4. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) i think BA will make the club. probably be a utility guy to start season but i could be wrong If you take Guillen at his word then no he will not allow Anderson to rot on the bench in Chicago he can go get his ABs at Charlotte while Pods, Erstad and Terrero hold down the fort on the big club.
  5. QUOTE(wsgdf2 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) He's actually won two GGs in CF (2000 and 2002). 5 and 7 years ago. he won 1 at 1B just 3 years ago.
  6. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) Sigh.... I give Erstad 40 games in CF before he is hurt or an extreme liability there. I hate this BS about saying we're tryingto build one way, and doing something totally opposite in the personnel moves. "High ceiling" guys eh KW? Erstads ceiling in CF is that impressive you you and Oz huh. Just a few of the things you hear from people like Hawk: Darin Erstad is an All-Star and once had over 250 hits in one season. He also won a GG just 2 years ago so I don't see why you wouldn't want him starting in CF. Reality Check: The AS season and 250+ hits took place 7 years ago and the gold glove he won was at 1B.
  7. QUOTE(Scwible @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) Nice Nice. 2 RBI triple for Gooch. More like single and 2 base error.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) So did Mr No Groin have the tag waiting for it, or was it close. MR. NO GROIN! MR. HASN'T GOT A GROIN!
  9. Looks like Scottie hasn't lost a step on the basepaths.
  10. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) anyway u can get a miguel cabrera pic like that too? I don't know if it's kosher to be posting pics of little kids on the board.
  11. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) Even though many on this board, including myself, hate prancer, we can all agree that when he is on his game and stealing bases, this team is so much better. You can say that for any team and their leadoff hitter no matter how bad the team or untalented the leadoff hitter but yeah I agree.
  12. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) If there gonna keep playing him in the outfield than i'd rather see him gone. It seems like whenever he plays we lose. There's a difference between outfield and centerfield. Centerfield = terrible Outfield - Centerfield = above average He's an excellent corner outfielder, centerfield is a whole different position.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 02:06 PM) Mack is better at both of those roles than Pablo, IMO. Not to mention being a better offensive player. Having an insanely versatile player defensive player who also happens to be an excellent offensive player on your bench is always a great thing to have. He's also probably the contingency plan at 2B for '08 in case Iguchi is elsewhere.
  14. Perez can play 3B about as well as Travis Hafner could play there.
  15. It would be a huge mistake to trade Rob Mackowiak and I really think KW knows this. As much as people like to think Rob is expendable, he really is not.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) Just because a person seems to move with an amazing amount of ease in CF doesn't mean that he's not going 100%. It just means that he doesn't need to go 100% because he's gotten such good jumps on the ball. On the plays where Anderson needs to cover ground out there...my God does that kid ever cover some ground. I can think of a couple diving catches and that grab against Hafner in June where he just seemed to come out of no where. I still think that grab on Hafner was the Sox' defensive play of the year. It extended the game another inning so Dye could win it on a single up the middle and it was such a huge momentum shifter for Brian, he ended up homering the next day and going on a nice run offensively after that catch. And get this one after he ran from right center all the way over to left center he finished the play off by - wait for it - crashing into the wall. Since he had so much momentum going in that direction he couldn't keep himself from hitting the wall, I thought that was pretty grinderish but hell I don't even know what the word means anymore.
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:31 AM) you're not by chance suggesting it was a lack of talent that lost them the game, are you? I would never infer such a thing. They were obviously lacking extra motivation to perform, such an intangible force can only be provided by someone who maybe doesn't have all the talent in the world so they're stuck wearing a Peacock costume or relegated to 4th OF duties and helping out the team by strutting around like a jackass or running face first into a wall.
  18. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 03:06 AM) It wasn't Carlton's fault, Will did his best. Is there a reason why the entire ULA roster was made up of 6'6" 280 pound white guys? Did they have a single skill position player on the team? Perhaps that had a bit more to do with them losing than Carlton being kidnapped and locked in a giant bird cage.
  19. Jesus Christ if the 25 handsomely payed PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYERS on the White Sox roster last year were playing at a lower level than they had the year before because the great Aaron Rowand was not grinding along side them then Kenny Williams' team has much larger problems than I could ever have foreseen. Apparently they're all a bunch of little b****es. It's about as pathetic as the time the ULA Peacocks got their asses handed to them by the SCU Mustangs simply because their mascot wasn't around to do the peacock strut and fire them up. How sad.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 02:39 AM) Please tell me Williams doesn't believe what he says here. What the f*** is a grinder effect? Was the absence of it last season responsible for the ERA's of our pitching staff being a full run higher in 2006? This bulls*** is reaching ridiculous levels.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) Zoom, isn't Wickman closing for Atlanta? Yes and following the tradition of the Braves closer carousel once Wickman fails Raphael Soriano probably has the inside track to close games out. I'm not so sure they want to move Gonzalez into the closer's role this year.
  22. The White Sox lead the majors in spring training home runs with 25, and only the Brewers have scored more runs.
  23. QUOTE(Cali @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) The Scrubs shift only lasts a few weeks, so It's no big deal. 30 Rock started off slow, and kind of blah, but now it's great. Alec Baldwin is just hilarious. The last few episodes have been stellar. I don't mind the move. I get to watch The Office, 30 Rock and Scrubs all in a row? thank You, I'll take it. I hated Tracey Morgan on SNL but he's just outstanding on 30 Rock. Most everything he says is hilarious.
  24. The point is, it does happen. Players do struggle when they first hit the bigs and then become pretty damn good players though some would have you believe otherwise. Other players start off hot their first couple hundred ABs in the bigs and then go to s*** after that. (Ruben Mateo, Ben Grieve, Travis Lee) and then some players start off s***ty and never adjust, they spend their entire careers as the same player they were they day they were called up. It's not impossible for a player to put up power offensive numbers for his first 400 ABs and then turn it around, as a matter of fact it happens quite often. That's all I'm trying to say.
