  1. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) According to Doug Padilla, the deal that's being discussed is Jackson OR Thornton plus a prospect. Not both. I have seen it posted BOTH ways.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:11 PM) This team hasn't pitched anywhere near the level of the Giants. The Giants had a crappy season from Linecum last year and still threw up the best ERA in the league. If Sox get Rasmus I'd say CQ is gone in a 2nd deal.
  3. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) It is too much of a sign that Thornton did not pitch today? EJ pitched today and Rasmus started for 1st time in 6 days an no Thornton today makes you say hmmmmmmmmmm.
  4. Thanks for last Sox win EJ good luck in STL!
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Rasmus is 2-3 with a HR, a BB and 2 R. I posted that earlier, but they like Jay alot more.
  6. You wonder why STL wants to deal Rasmus, Jay is 2-2 with 2 walks so far today with Holliday and Berkman he is the odd man out for much needed pitching.
  7. Nice job Sale now Santos time of our program.
  8. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Rasmus isn't worth both of them, they would have throw in miller or martinez EJ and Thornton have never been more overvalued than this thread, you will NOT be getting anything from STL but Rasmus.
  9. Rasmus just hit a bomb 2-3 so far!
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Hypothetically from the Cardinals side, if they were to trade Rasmus to the Sox somehow...who would take over CF for them? Jon Jay has already IMO!
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) Is that a fact? Latest Elias ranking he is way down the list.
  12. Keep Saturday delivery or cut it? Congress may vote on this soon. Thanks for your opinion.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Hawk thinks he could hit a couple of those pitches. I really think he could outhit Rios at this point.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) FWIW LaRussa is linked with the White Sox next year, if Ozzie goes to Marlins.. as Phil Rogers reports. Rogers is the no all beat all................I would not worry about who the manager is next year. I will take this anyday .859 OPS last year (as a 23 year old); 2009 Baseball America #3 prospect overall....................... Ability to play center field.
  15. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 01:00 PM) Rasmus is a bit of a douchebag. Talented guy but doesn't love to play and will drive Sox fans crazy with his lack of any kind of intensity. Just coasts through the game. The Cards are hoping the Sox are focusing on Colby's 2010 season. If they are asking E-JAX + Thornton + prospects that is too much. DO NOT overpay for him. EJ is a type B FA, Thornton is a 8th inning guy only and money he is making he can go he cannot close. I agree prospect better be mid level and IF it is that is a fair deal for the #3 prospect in baseball 2 years ago. Rasmus hates LaRussa and change of scenery would be good for all involved.
  16. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) and that was at the age of 23 and hes under control for 3 more years, while despite being arb eligible, still should be relatively cheap. So to those saying he's like Alex Rios, yes he's like alex rios but 5.5 years younger and significantly cheaper if you have a chance to get this guy for Jackson or thornton you do it in a heartbeat No Brainer too me.
  17. Yes , Yes and Yes...............Rasmus for Jackson/Thornton
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) I can't believe you guys can't see how ridiculous it is to trade CQ and merely put Dayan there. What does that accomplish? They are the same player potentially? So we add some reliever for CQ? Or a couple minor leaguers? Stupid. Trading one of two productive players in the whole lineup is a smart trade? Dumb as hell. The only way I'd trade him is for a can't miss third baseman. BTW read tonight's Chicago Tribune Gonzalez rainout article. Doesn't sound like changes are imminent. www.chicagotribune.com CLEVELAND — With the July 31 non-waiver trading deadline one week away, manager Ozzie Guillen doesn’t see the need to acquire a player as long as the White Sox show improvement. “A lot of people say we need this or that,” Guillen said before Saturday night’s rainout in Cleveland. “You know what we need? Our guys to play right and play (well). That’s my opinion. “If they start playing (well), I don’t think we need anybody else. If we are not playing good, then (general manager) Kenny Williams could go a different way. If we don’t play good for the next couple of weeks, they could go in a different direction.” Guillen said he hasn’t spoken recently to Williams, who didn’t accompany the Sox on their three-city trip that ends Sunday. “I think he believes the way I believe, that we have a better ballclub than the way we’re playing,” Guillen said. “I still believe we have a better ballclub. We’re just not playing the way we think.” The Sox have survived without a true long reliever since Jake Peavy threw four innings in an emergency appearance June 25. But Brian Bruney said he’s capable of throwing more than one inning if needed. “You start throwing guys two or three innings at a time consistently, guys get fatigued,” Bruney said. “So in my opinion, it’s always better to give a guy an inning but keep him fresh. You give them more work, but you keep them sharp with maybe an inning or 1 1/3 innings rather than stretching guys out. “But I feel comfortable with whatever they ask me because if I need to come in like I did when (John) Danks went down and throw (a career-high) 2 1/3 innings. I felt stronger every inning, I don’t mind doing it.” It provides salary relief now and in the future, plus whatever Sox get in return for CQ.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) Trading CQ just to open a spot for Dayan is f***ing stupid. We could only hope Dayan is as productive as CQ. Right now, CQ is productive. You want to add Dayan's bat and take out a lousy bat like dunn or Rios. That the reality like it or not. Pierre is in LF rest of 2011, CQ is odd man out.
  20. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) Postponed, apparently... Figures 1 game this week I get to see is gonzo.
