QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) Looking like another wasted effort by Gavin... Stand pat Kenny. This team will surely figure it out.... Wasted just like 2011. -

QUOTE (kageman129 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) Hopefully Sunday, when Quentin is in a Braves uniform and DV is called up. Sad thing is, I love Quentin in the line-up, but it definitely is time to change something here. Sounds good to me. -

Sox/Danks have talked numbers but "nothing too serious"

Danks has no interest in an extension. He wants to be a free agent 100% -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) Steve Smith? NO! He is not the player. The Bears have traded Greg Olsen to the Panthers in exchange for a player to be named later and a draft pick. No, that player is not Steve Smith. Olsen was placed on the trading block as Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz despises pass-catching tight ends. In Carolina, he'll join fellow "U" alum Jeremy Shockey and step right in as the No. 2 option in the passing game behind Smith. Olsen, who caught 60 passes and eight touchdowns the year before Martz arrived in Chicago, is back on the radar as a borderline TE1. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Wow. I wonder if it is Quentin. I wouldn't think we'd deal this quick, but if the Sox got the right package, who knows. I could live with Minor and Beachy. Gives you two lefty arms who are solid and can be traded. Although I'd clearly prefer a package built around Teheran. I agree do it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) You haven't been watching the same team that I have this year. I watched a team with CQ in the lineup all year score 3 runs or less over half the time.

If Danks goes then it is White flag 2.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) The teams record has nothing to with what Q has done this year. Yeah it does we are not breaking up the 27 Yankees, team is going to have about the same record with or without CQ on it!

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) probably already been posted, it's not a brand new tweet... just been skimming the beatwriters/bloggers twitter accounts http://twitter.com/#!/BNightengale/sta...386194459459584 "The trouble with trading Quentin is that it would signify they're giving up" He thinks that if we trade CQ, it's a give up/rebuild trade.. Having DV taking CQ place is far from giving up to me we are under .500 with CQ all year. Get some good pitching prospects from ATL and I am all for it.
-
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) Viciedo's injury should absolutely NOT hold us back from trading CQ I agree play Brent in RF for a few days until DV is ready to go.
-
QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) A few weeks ago, people were talking about getting Brandon Beachy for Quentin from ATL. Now it seems like we'd get multiple pieces from their top 10. I trade CQ for some good young arms.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
Soxfest replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
OG after the game today. "I don’t think we’re going to buy anything," Guillen said following the Sox's 2-1 win over Detroit, which came hours after the Sox saved $9.5 million through 2012 by trading pitcher Edwin Jackson and infielder Mark Teahen to Toronto for reliever Jason Frasor and pitching prospect Zach Stewart. "I think (chairman) Jerry Reinsdorf’s broke now. I still believe what we have in the offense. We don’t need to trade anybody. We just need those guys to go out and score some runs." -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) And than at that point, can't they pretty much get type B compensation for him and/or excerise the option and use him for another year at a pretty fair price. The reality is to me the club is clearly looking at potentially moving some of its relievers and at the trade deadline, relievers always seem to have very steap prices. Heck, given how crappy the central is, I think if the right offers are out there to retool, you do it, knowing that in this crappy division, the club should still contend. I also highly doubt the club is going to move any of its other starters (e.g., Danks). So that means you possibly spin Quentin, Thorty, Ohman, and maybe Frasor. That should give you some solid parts while also opening up spots for Reed/Stewart/Santiago/etc. The hard part truly is replacing Quentin's production. Danks and Floyd are availiable per CBS sportsline. -

Scoutingbook.com.......on Stewart. Zach Stewart Born 9/28/1986 (24 years old) RHP, TOR Already blessed with the best fastball in the Blue Jays system, ex-Red Zach Stewart is a compact righthander who's being fast-tracked to future closing duties in Toronto. That is, it looks an awful lot like that's how the Blue Jays want him to arrive. Should they change their minds, Stewart's high heat and nasty, nasty slider could also do some damage in a starting role. -
