Also, before this s***ty season, Tucker has always been regarded highly in the coaching community, from what I've read. He almost got the Jaguars job after Jack Del Rio, and the fact he was able to transition from Crennel to Del Rio and then be expected to run a 3rd completely different defense with the Bears shows how he must have a high football IQ. Plus, he worked for two of the best college coaches EVER in Tressel and Saban. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm actually pretty excited to see what he comes up with next year. Plus, with his back being against the wall, I have a feeling he'll make sure to give his absolute best effort. Bears announced they will retain defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. It's not a surprising move because Tucker is a good coach, but GM Phil Emery understandably delayed on his decision after Chicago finished 2013 ranked No. 30 in total defense and 31st in points allowed. Per beat writer Brad Biggs' count, MLB D.J. Williams missed ten games and WLB Lance Briggs missed six, while DLs Henry Melton (13 missed games), Nate Collins (11), and Stephen Paea (3) were also injury casualties. Rather than axing Tucker, the Bears are using DL coach Mike Phair and LB coach Tim Tibesar as scapegoats. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that arbitrator Fredric Horowitz has ruled that Alex Rodriguez receive a 162-game suspension. If upheld, that would mean the aging superstar will sit out the entirety of the 2014 regular season. It's a slight win for Rodriguez who was initially handed a 211-game ban, though it's still significantly longer than he was hoping for. He has already announced that he plans to file a lawsuit in federal court over the ruling. The Yankees stand to save $25 million in 2014 by not having to pay A-Rod's salary. According to Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York, Alex Rodriguez has every intention of reporting to spring training with the Yankees. There's really not anything that the team can do to stop him from doing so, as his suspension doesn't begin until the start of the regular season.
