White Sox v. Angels, 9/11, Gamethread

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) No right handed pitcher has ever beaten the great Rob Mackowiak! EVA! That, and Mack has those pictures... He must of called Timo and had them faxed over. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) It seems like the Sox go for real long stretches without baserunner an awful lot lately. Maybe the toll of having to provide so much offense this season has worn on them. Actually its the ravages of trying to lift and pull on low and away pitches. Our team has failed to adjust to a method of being pitched. The only way that we can get pitchers back to challenging over the plate is either bad control, or to start to hit those low and away pitches with authority up the middle and to right. -

Uribe trying to go yard. The fact that anyone throws him a strike is just plain stupidity on their part. I woudl just bounce a few 59 footers and let his bad mechanics get him out. Another night of getting no hit into the 4th. Thank god we gave Walk a 3 year deal. But to top that off, we gave one to Cora also. 3 more years of poo. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) How many times have we been no-hit thru 3 innings over the last few weeks? Dont worry, they just havent centered the low and away pitch up for the pull shot. -

low and away fed like crazy to our right handed hitters. Crede takes it into right and hits it hard. Now that is the way to beat this kid if he keeps featuring low and away. Hey I thought Ozzie was platooning Sweeney and Anderson, whats with the butcher back in CF. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) 4 k's in 7 batters for Jose. Man I missed him. The guy who took Lackey deep in game 3 of the ALCS. I miss that guy, he has been replaced with PUP, paulie pop up. -

How about a line drive swing by someone on our team. Or is that a benchable offense in the hitting coaches eyes. -

QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Let's see....We're playing the Angels who have their backs against the wall and are fighting for their playoff lives. Minnesota plays Oakland who have a cushy 5.5 game lead on the Angels. Detroit plays Texas who are basically out of contention and already playing their farm call-ups for next year. If the Sox don't come through in these six games, it really is over. Oakland has plenty of motivation. Its called not having to face Santana and Liriano in the first round. -
For all of the Anderson hate that we see in the threads, how about some crap for Taz Uribe. Who litterally fell over trying to crush a 2 strike pitch with men on. Its bad enough his swing causes him to be unbalanced. Its another thing when he just falls over look stupid. We either need to get Hrniak to work with Uribe again, or we need to send him goodbye. One other thing, Anderson on low and away fastball has an identical swing and look to Crede circa 2004 on low and away pitches. Its the same stupid swing, the same stupid one handed follow through, the same stupid result. Can we get Greg to get a new approach with teaching hitters how to deal with stuff low and away. Having someone attempt to pull it is completely and utterly stupid. The minute he is fired, hopefully after this year, can we hire someone from another organization that can teach how to have a clean line drive swing. Stop with the lift and pull crap. Dumb

Well thank God our offense has s*** the bed since the first inning. Instead of making the hamburgler work a bit. Nice breaking pitch by bmac.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) Pinch hitting for Uribe sure seems appropriate. f***ing Uribe falls over striking out. Does this guy even have a clue at the plate. Swing for the fence, and pray its down the middle is his method. Can we fly Hrniak out and have him work with Uribe again. I know that Walk doesnt believe that the leg kick worked, but obviously he has no clue how to help him. Anything is worth a try.

Nice play by Garko. The buffet table running to 1st then missed it. Garko should of yelled ice cream and he would of caught it.
-
4 pitches, 2 outs. Way to help battle and get this guy out of the game.
-
Konerko swings, then suicide shrugs, fly out.
-
Tigers implosion of magnitude 9.8 scale going on 6-0 Twinks. Lets get this win and lets get to 2.5 games out of first.
-
AJ puts down a sign, and Javy shakes him off so he can throw another fastball.
-
QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) I'd still have Vazquez out there instead of Cotts or Riske. He needs to get through this inning. I would rather have Southpaw or some of the Chevy Pride girls out there than Cotts.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) It is because there are so many righties and so few lefties in the world. Righties have to know how to hit righties, lefties knowing how to hit lefties isn't really a must. But as a righty you learn to stay striding towards the pitching plate when you recoginze the curve, too many lefties bail like the ball is going to hit them.
-
Nibble nibble nibble.
-
Nibbles is back on the mound, pitching away from contact.
-
One thing I have never understood is how stupid some lefties look when they face a lefty. Righties face righties and dont look stupid when they throw them a curve. But lefties can look like 12 year olds seeing a curve for the first time. f***ing bailing and stepping out. How stupid.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) I didn't see that...thanks for the observation. I dont know why Javy shakes off our catchers so much. He gets some idea of what he wants to throw, and then shakes until he throws it. Which a lot of times is some moving breaking pitch with 3-2. Someone should tell Javy, just go up there and throw dont think meat it hurts the team.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) C.C. has only thrown 63 pitches, as our offense has mailed it in after the first two batters. A 3-2 slider to the #9 hitter with Sizemore on deck is just stupid, especially as they hadn't proven they could hit his fastball so far today. Fathom who knows what was originally called, Javy shakes off AJ more than any of our pitchers. He shook off 3 signs before he threw that slider.
-
We need to hire a sports psychologist to have a chat with Mr. Javy on his fear of all things 6th inning. Riske and Cotts up, yuck.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Come on Javy, stop being such a f***ing women and pitch. Get the damn ground ball already and get out of this inning. He is too busy nibbling around the strikezone, stacking more dynamite for the implosion.
-
Rollers and Hangers, thats what he throws that he calls curveballs after the 5th inning.
