This is all of a feather with these, 'no selfish players THIS year' and 'winning attitude THIS year' stories. All this ex-post rationalization. I'm just tired of reading about it. They lost not b/c of any clubhouse conflict, they lost because they couldn't get people out.

I'm so tired of this crap. The Sox will blame last season on anything and everything except the fact that the pitching f'n sucked. Now apparently the Chicago White Sox are saying that Carlos Lee was a meanie. Do they need a goddam scout mother? Carlos has not been taking shots at the Sox, JUST SHUT UP AND PLAY.

Writers needing stories. I don't buy any of the stuff about Benson's workout woes. He's played so much that I think everyone pretty much has a set opinion. And I don't know if that's really news about Dan Cody -- even though I still think he'll be a good player. -
This is not a good week. He was still good, too. I liked Ravelstein. One of the very best recent writers, and a Chicagoan. A huge loss.

I got tense for a second on that first hit up the middle, thinking he might get a kick stop. Please Mark, just let those go at this point.

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) There were very few flyouts by the Sox yesterday, hopefully that can continue. That's mostly because they were facing Westbrook, the guy is a gb monster. Obviously we want to avoid outs -- but as for flyouts vs. groundouts, I don't think there's much of an advantage, in general. I guess you could argue that you move runners along better -- but Dye moved PK along w/ a flyout yesterday, and Crede would have helped us a lot more with a (medium-long) flyout, and w/ more groundouts will also come more gidp. So I'm not sure what you're getting at here.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) WHAT A TIP Yup, nothing you can do about that. Ill played it pretty well.
-
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) I would double down on May and make him pass out, take your chances with UNC from outside. Atleast its not automatic at all. Thing is, I don't know if any 2 Illini can guard him much better. And qwerty, I don't disagree, but at least w/ Powell May had to push. For everyone else, it looks like the guy's Moses, all resistance parting before him.
-
What do you do if you're Weber? I put Powell and any tall guy on May every time he touches the ball. Not that I think it'll work, but it's the best I can come up with. At least Powell's got some strength.
-
One thing I'll say for Deron, he's unflappable. When he gets an open look, he buries it.
-
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) What the Hell did Weber say to these guys? Can I say the obvious of "Drunk girls for everybody if you win"? Lmao,
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) Right back in this game. You knew at some point our shots would start to fall. Now we've got to find some way to contain May. Maybe with the double secret defender Illinois has on the bench? He's too strong. More kudos for Head. He just runs until the buzzer, I enjoy watching him play.
-
May is treating any given defender like a rag doll, and Illinois can't run even one good screen. Not looking good.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) I hate him... a lot. Always have and always will. He is so overated. Two of brown, augustine, head will have better careers. Well, I don't hate him, and I'm not at all sure of the second part, but I agree strongly that he's overrated. I think he might slide in the draft.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) BTW, Deron's mother announced that he will in fact go to the NBA after this season. Maybe announcing after the Az game would have been better, I don't know...
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:20 AM) That's this game isn't life or death? That no matter what happens life will go on? lol. I say that because i've never seen them look so scared before. Exactly. Some awful tentative passing. And UNC has worked it all out at this point.
-
Well, what do you say? Guys, we have to stop getting screwed by the refs, go get 'em! Guys, stop being dominated by that guy who's stronger than any 2 of you put together, go get 'em! I just don't know.
-
What does Weber say at half?
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) Rowand's ground ball was more 'we-got-lucky-that-Peralta-bobbled-it-and-sometimes-it's-better-to-be-lucky-than-good, ball' (out of breath). Agreed. But nite, I disagree w/ you a bit. I don't like smallball, but I don't see how it's boring. I think the whole Westbrook-Podsednik chess match was a hell of a lot of fun to watch, even if it doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of wins. Btw, who else laughed when AJ made as if to bunt?

Okay, I've now used my quota of Jabroni-Ozuna digs for the week. Guess I'll post again next Monday...
-
Welcome, good to join on a happy day! In case you missed it while reading, Jabroni LOVES Pablo Ozuna, Gene Honda Civic HATES Timo, and Anthrax...well, you'll see. Now you're caught up.
-
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I'd hope not. The guy is 69 years old!!!! Cute, real cute.
-
Great game for Buehrle, and it won't be his last one, but... Even Sandy Koufax wouldn't throw more than a few games like that in a full season in this age, based in this stadium. We can't count on this, we need more offense.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Just got back from the game. 2 hour game -- good lord, Buehrle pitches fast. He also made me question my sexuality after today's performance. Perfect through 4 innings? 8 inning, 2 hitter? Didn't Pablo Ozuna accomplish that already? Heck, from your posts I thought you passed through the "questioning" stage pretty quick...

I just watched it on the MLB internet tv feed. That was one hell of a game. Wow, does it suck to be Westbrook. Great to get the win, Buehrle looked great (the strikeout of Crisp was golden). Some good plays by Rowand and Uribe. Have to get the bats going (Crede...), but after 1 game we're up! Edit: When Shingo got the final out and pumped his fist, it looked like the both of us were worried for a split second that he'd punch out the ump.
