My thoughts are that noone in the game thread should reference the fact that he has a perfect game going....
-
Hermanson's been great, no doubt. But that's 4 appearances, and he's now Brad Lidge???

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) Am I missing something, or was Ozzie pitching? No, Ozzie does not pitch. Ozzie does not hit. So really he does nothing and has nothing to do with the game. It's a waste to pay him, I nominate Crede as player-manager.

Chop suey is Chinese, isn't it?...

Can't wait to hear how Ozzie answers questions in the postgame...

QUOTE(traydragen @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) Damn Mlb.com, what the hell is going on??? Maybe they realized their mistake about when Vizcaino entered the game. Sometimes it takes a while when they have to go back and correct the game data.

Not a good start. Who's warming?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) In the 8th. Pitched a scoreless 8th. And, maybe this is a little premature, but Rowand looks locked in. Thx. Gameday has him coming in during the 7th, with one out.

I'm confused now. When did Vizcaino enter the game?

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) Nice game jon (While awaiting the 'Trade Judy now!' thread....)

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Yes, he looks as bad at the plate as he did good against Santana on Sunday night. OUCH
-
Aaron Heilman pitched a cg 1 hitter against the Marlins. Bruce Chen has dominated the Yankees. And Neifi Perez supplied the Cubs' power. So yeah, today's gone pretty much as expected.
-
Does Iguchi look as bad as his line?

Time for my insightful post of the day: Crap.

No f'n way, don't let it get away from you this fast Jon. And after you got Ichiro to start things off. Hunker down young man.

QUOTE(marleycat @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) Ouch, who the heck is Juan Uribe? 3-0 Boom goes the dynamite! Edit: I feel everyone should have the right to use that line once.

QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) It looks like we wont get a chance to boo mags and Mags' contract will be void since he will be going on the DL with a hernia. I bet Mags would love to have taken the Sox's money now. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb Why?

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) Cleveland cant just up and say, hey, lets trade out of the #3 spot... someone will want to have to trade down before they can do that... and with Tampa in a potential trade to take Smith I dont really see who else would wanna move to #3 in fear of missing out on someone right now.. No, I know they can't do it themselves. I'd have to look at one of the value charts to see if it is realistic for any team to move up. It just seems that some teams really, really love Edwards or Brown (Edwards especially), while Cleveland may not be very interested in him there.
-
QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) From what I have heard teams really arent wanting to trade down, except Tampa Bay is the only known to come out.. And Miami is who they want to trade with, thats the only way they can guarantee themselves Smith.. thats IF SF takes Rodgers, which Im pretty sure they will The only way I see Cleveland wanting to stay at #3 is if Alex Smith is there. (Even then I'm not sure.) Otherwise, there're just too many holes on that team. Plus, new GM, new coach, and I'm betting that pick gets swapped.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Looks to me like the Bears will get either Braylon or Ronnie Brown, whichever Cleveland passes up. ...or whoever Cleveland trades w/. The Browns look like a good candidate to trade down. Is anyone expecting a quiet draft? There's so much uncertainty at the top, I'd guess there're going to be a lot of swaps on draft day or just before.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I'd sign that deal too. A lot can happen over the course of a year. I'd rather have $40 mil as a sure thing than the risky prospect of $50 mil.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) I just don't think he justifies getting such a big contract. He's 29 (IIRC) right now, and if you lock him up for three-four years at eight million per, I think that might really come back to bite ya in the third year. I just don't think he's worth that much. Then again, I've never been a huge fan of Konerko -- I like the guy, but he's never been one of my favorite players. I agree with much of this -- the length of the contract worries me more than the amount. Although 3 years at $8 mil would be signed in an instant by the Sox (and should be). PK is making $9 mil this year, after all. If he comes close to replicating last year, bargaining will start at $10 mil or more. If the Sox could sign him at that rate now, for a three-year extension, it could end up being a bargain.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Which would be a terribly gross overpayment -- IMHO. From what you said before, I thought you believed he was worth around $8 mil. So does $2 mil make it "terribly gross overpayment"? (If so, I'd love to hear how colorful your take on Milton's deal would be. ) I don't know, Konerko seems pretty valuable to me. Power isn't just hr, but if the Cell continues to eat doubles, then we can't replace the hr. I wouldn't be opposed to letting him walk if we can bring in someone with 25-35 hr potential (and otherwise good stats -- no Burnitzing) and a good price, but if the fa cupboard is as bare as qwerty says, I'm a little leery of seeing him go. (And I do like Gload.) In any case, this is awfully premature.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) The key is making up what you lost in power in different areas. Grab a few more guys with higher OBP's, improve defensively, and improve your pitching staff (grab a stud reliever). I don't know that spending on relievers is a great idea. The Phils have been trying that for a while now. I'd rather see the money go to someone who throws 200 innings or plays everyday. Jmho.
