  1. I see Kenny Wuilliams Jr is hitting 1.000. Viciedo is like .174. Maybe we have the wrong hero set for RF?
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) How is anything Joe Cowley writes about the Sox interesting to Sox fans? Folks, this guy has a serious axe to grind (in his mind, anyway). He loved Ozzie and his sons, he thinks Cooper is a backstabber and he HATES Kenny for a number of reasons, primarily for wining the "Ozzie vs. Kenny" Reinsdorf challenge. He is licking his chops and praying for this team to fail and fail fast so he can lower the boom with all of his "I told you so" bulls***...and it will be even sweeter for him if Ozzie produces a winner in Miami. And keep this in mind: if he's rooting for KW to fail he's also rooting for Robin Ventura to fail. I don't know about you guys, but Robin is one of my all-time favorite Sox. I don't want him to fail and I give the big f*** YOU to anyone who does. Accepting the truth to what is being said by writers or analysts is not wishing Robin Ventura or the Sox to fail. Robin inherited what KW has given. I am sure Robin will do the best he can. Miracles can happen for sure and you can''t write the team off in March. But, the words written by Cowley, Rogers, etc are not wrong IMO. But, the team can prove them wrong and hopefully will
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 05:47 PM) Just Cowley trying to dig up a negative pre-season vibe. Nothing newsworthy. By the way Matt, if you wanted the playoffs, we could have used your help down the stretch in 2010 and in April, 2011. I want this team to win, but let's not start blaming Joe Cowley for telling the truth. Phil Rogers has pointed the finger squarely at the person most responsible too. I can see these trades happening for sure but what we have goten so far in return has not been on par with the talent we traded away. Are we destined to be the cellar dwellers?
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 12:08 AM) Molina gets the double play ball with the split finger pitch. No, he's not a closer. Nice to see him at least not crumbling this time. For how good his control was in the minors last year, it has sure been spotty in big league camp. Rios failed with RISP again, although the runner should have been going on the contact play and scored from 3rd. Escobar killing Martinez in the infield utility spot competition. One of the few bright spots, so far. Molina throwing a slider-esque version of the split finger, according to Melton. A pitch "he's never seen before in his life." Haha. Thornton looked good. Sale recovered from the homer. Perhaps most importantly, Dunn is showing signs of being a totally different player this spring. There was more than the Pujols homer. More like 7 runs. He needs to step it up if he is going to be the starter. Regardless of ST or not. A number of our pitchers need to step it up I think.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) He called off Saladino at 2B. Then he dropped the ball. Albert with his 2nd homer, this time off Anthony Carter. We don't need 25 pitchers in camp anymore. Based on performances by our pitching so far we may need 50 pitchers in camp
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) Lillibridge makes an error at short. That's what will happen if you go to the well too often with a bench player. He turned three DP's ysterday I think and then made an error. He is getting SS down again after being in the OF almost all last year. He will do fine IMO
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) apparently he's our only good starter Seems like that makes him a trade bait kind of guy. Trade your best you know.
  8. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) what about Santiago, hes looked good so far in spring I meant to quote Balta here Good reviews so far on Santiago for sure. And you can quote ME on that
  9. It's spring training I think. Maybe jake is just throwing to gain arm strength? We want to win, but really at this point it isn't the same need as the regular season. Plus am I wrong that it seems one pitcher in each game is getting knocked around and the others do pretty good? Come on isn't that positive? Please tell me it is!
  10. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 12, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) Rios hitting a robust .154 now... But, it feels more comfortable to him
  11. I had to delete my first response. I hope this organization wakes up before we become to Toronto what the old KC A's were for the Yankess. A farm club selling off its best players to survive.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) Danks not throwing strikes today. He wasn't last outing either
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 10:30 PM) Reed isn't throwing strikes either. Hopefully working on a pitch. I don't think he is just hype so might be just getting into the groove as you stated
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) I'm through with betting on Konerko looking old. It is amazing isn't it that they keep bringing it up as a prediction - the decline of PK- and he shows them wrong. But, they keep it up and I suppose some year it might happen and they will call themselves experts and great judges of MLB talent.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) Rangers announcer uses the term "Titanic" to describe the homer. Spring Training or not it sure is niced to see Dunn hit one
  16. I am counting on Dunn rebounding. What else can you do? If he doesn't there is something wrong with him physically for sure, or he is just washed up. I prefer to think 2011 was an aberration for Dunn
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) It won no Oscars. Yep, but that Angelina sure looked good
  18. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 11:21 AM) It's hard to tell in gamethreads if people are being sarcastic or taking the results of 2-3 games for hitters and a couple innings from pitchers serious... I just hope it isn't a sign of things to come in regular season gamethreads. It probably is. Most live and die off one game reagrdless of when it's played. Emotions run high here
  19. QUOTE (balfanman @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) I have know idea what article you are refering to, but I doubt very much that Phil Rogers has anything right. Balta attached it and I am sorry but I think he does have it right
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 10:12 PM) San Diego. That's where he left it I think, but it's way too early to tell they say. He is just getting loosened up right now
  21. QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Mar 7, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) 2 more runs in on a triple that was poorly played by JorDanks in my opinion. Melton disagrees, but it is now 8 - 0. We are doomed
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 11:33 PM) That's right about where I'd expect them to be. I might go closer to .500 this year, but a losing season is very possible
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) I'm waiting for the first person to go off on why we're so terrible in the spring no matter who the manager is and who leads the preparation...and predictions for less than 70 wins and 1.5 million or under in attendance. I don't care how good or bad we are in spring training. I know folks like to win and I do too but it means nothing much as far as the season is concerned. I see ST mostly as achance to see young players and what they can do and get the vets get ready for opening day. I think KW has some answering to do about his GM decisions and I am think Phil Rogers has it right in his analysis of KW's GM job.
  24. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 06:27 PM) As much as I'd like Kenny to keep selling, it seems he's crossing his fingers that this team isn't awful. If things go south he can trade Thornton/Gavin down the line. The only thing left to do is send Kenny packing
