  1. Got to watch the game on MLB Extra Innings. Gavin was really sharp. PK and Beckham with the dingers and GB was fielding great.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 10:57 PM) I was expecting a loss today. Glad to see I was proven wrong. Let's win the series tomorrow! You should never expect a loss. The Sox have a championship type team so we don't expect to lose ever.
  3. Watched the game on WGN. Humber was impressive but I have to admit I was worried when Sale gave up that lead off homer.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Unfortunately, Chris still hasn't acted like he belongs in the spot either. This was going to be my post also. Crain and Santos have stepped up. Crain was impressive Friday night
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) That's kind of a custom item. I'm thinking smaller, like an autographed photo, ball, or card. Maybe a cap. Something maybe less... taxing on the wallet. Sox team picture? Baseball cards? Those seem good things to me. A T-shirt or something like hat? I would be willing to help with a few bucks to pay for things too.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) Even with the D, something about Matt was unusually hittable last night. Last year at the start of the season, you'd see a lefty come up and walk away having had no chance. Last night, everyone had a chance. I saw the same thing, but at first I wasn't sure if I was just being to critical. The D was bad and could have made the difference, but I thought Matt's pitches were kind of flat? Lack of snap and movement? Anyway I hope he can get back on track. I am worried we have a super set up man not abler to the the closer role similar to "05 and Politte. Cliff was the star in the set up role and melted as a closer more often than not.
  7. 2:00 PM MDT start and Humber pitching. Don't know what to expect, but let's root for the Sox to rebound from a horrible 9th last night
  8. WGN today. I was taking advantage of the MLB Extra Innings free week to watch last night and I was seriously deflated in the 9th. But, today is a new game. I don't know what to expect from Humber, but will hope for the best.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) I don't require people to agree with me to have an opinion. Lillibridge is a joke of a baseball player and I'm personally insulted by anyone who suggests otherwise. I mean like for real. My feelings are hurt. Is there a tear in that there eye?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) No one is going to claim him. He is going to Charlotte and will be back up if anything happens. I really have no problem with that, but do you think Gatrell might be making some waves and getting attention at Charlotte? I was kind of impressed with what I saw of him at ST
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) If you need this level of hyperbole to make your point, there's no reason for anyone to agree with you. True
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Wait a minute, there's a role on a Major League baseball team to be bad at everything? I can fill that role. I'm cheap, too. I'll do it for $50 G's Good luck with that. Let me know how it works out
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) I don't consider jogging after a ball that's bouncing toward the fence with a runner circling the bases a mental lapse. Milledge isn't a good enough hitter to overlook that. Hell, he's not even a starter. You raise a valid point, but based on one play I can't say Milledge didn't deserve the opportuinity and may well still be on ths team. He lost out ths time simply because of the relief corp failing us in the first few games plus Lillibridge has more flexibility
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) I'm not a Lillibridge fan at all, but that doesn't mean you keep Milledge. His numbers don't make up for his lack of effort. Again, he's a 4th OF'er. I like Lillibridge. he is a scraper and fills the role he is supposed to fill very well. Folks seem to forget that a role player off the bench is not the all star player like Konerko, Dunn or others. They bench plays a specific role when called on. I believe Lillibridge does a good job for us and gives it his all.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) This I completely agree with. Sorry, but I don't. This is an overeaction to one bad game/day
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Simply put, we needed another reliever and Lastings was proving unreliable in the field. Boers and Bernstein mentioned his tenure wouldn't be long here, so who knows if he was in the doghouse for other things. Nothing complicated about the decision. Hopefully the kid stays with the Sox system. He has a ton of talent and hopefully he can harness it with us
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) No I agree completely, it's very easy to look at the faults behind anything instead of focusing on the positives. I just don't think those faults, at this point in time, justify getting rid of Walker (obviously not right now, and probably not in the near future either). I also think the players like him, which improves clubhouse chemistry. That's always an issue that comes up from those people who preach intangibles - and I am not one of them - but just as in an office setting, it's going to be easier to perform on the field if you enjoy being there. Simple fact you can't please everyone all the time and some times you can't please some any of the time. It appears Walker has had some success. He works with Quentin and Carlos is really performing. I think at times hitting and p[itching cvoaches get blamed for things they have no control over. With CQ it was injries, but when healthy the guy is a real star. Plus as said here Walker is well liked and respected by the players. That counts for something in my book
  18. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Nice. Career high 13 K's! Very impressive and if E Jax can keep this up (he has had two good games so far) I will not be so unhappy about losing Hudson
  19. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Nice. Career high 13 K's! Very impressive
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) This is a game where I wouldn't mind Thornton in the 8th and Crain in the 9th. Crain kind of redeemed himself
  21. Jax with 108 pitches and one out in the 8th. Will Ozzie take him out?
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 07:58 PM) Spoke too soon? I know. It happens everytime doesn't it?
