That's the way to go Adkins! Wal the runner into scoring position
-
I would rather see that El Duckie guy come in here instead of Adkins, but here we go
-
Jenks is still battling. I want to believe in the tooth fairy. 2 outs
-
Mauer doubles on a 0-2 count. Boys I am afraid we are sunk!
-
This sucks!
-
This Jenks kid can be good. I like the fact he doesn't give in.

It would ne our luck that with a runner on 2nd with 1 out on our side we can't score and the Twinkies will bring the guy in from 1st with 2 out. Let's hope not!

Why did Uribe swing at the pitch? 3-1 count he could have took one

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:51 AM) Crede has 2 herniated discs. He's still doing better than Blum. He has no business trying to plow over anybody. I'm not excusing his piss poor hitting, but would you rather see Blum or Crede at 3b? I say Crede. There is no reason to run over the catcher and risk injury to both runner and catcher. Plus we lost this game 4-2 by the looks of it adn not 4-3. It is going to take more than Crede breaking his back to make this team start getting some runs across the plate. I don't see the reasoning in these arguments. Crede goes on the DL so we soxtalkers can make a point? I think this is just frustration than anything else, or at least I hope so.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) HE'S STILL HURT! Hurt or not Carl IS playing and will give it his all. Anyway hurt or not he is still beter than what I saw Ozuna do last night. So there!! In addition I don't we should be so quick to want to see Borchard gone. He might finally be finding it down there in AAA and next year could be that 4th OF'er/DH type we need. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) You put Everett in the OF, and you're just asking for a more serious injury. He's definitely lumbering when he tries to run. Also, you need to get offensive production from your DH. If you don't, you're putting yourself at a big disadvantage against other teams. Carl is adequate in the OF and would be better than what I saw from Ozuna last night. Pablo should never have been out there in LF -

Just logged on and see the game is delayed by rain. Maybe it will get rained out. I see the top of the 1st went like several of the last Sox games. Runner in scoring position and we groundout for out #3. Peronally if we bring someone up to replace Pods on the 15 day DL I think it should be Willie or even Joe Borchard. Both have ML experience with the big club. You don't bring up a AA rookie and stick him in the middle of a pennant race. He ain't going to stay anyway and you waste an option and also with Owens you create a problem on the 40 player roster. -
Despite Best Record, White Sox Still Have To Prove
elrockinMT replied to Moose78's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the real issue is somewhere in between. We need to play good and with intensity all the time to be a playoff and WS winner. The Red Sox and maybe the Yankees will be teams we can be reasonably certain will be there in the playoffs. We play good against the Yankees and crap out facing the Bosox. We have to beat them both. Now saying that I am hoping we are simply regrouping and if we play red hot in September and that stays with us through the playoffs then we will win, but we have to start getting the timely hitting and strong all around pitching and defense. We need to play with intensity. I will feel better if we beat the Carmines on Sunday. It will help also if we are all healthy. -
You can't have 12 pitchers and then use that 12th guy once every two weeks and expect him to be sharp. Adkins did good for an inning or so and got that DP grounder with the sacks full, but lost it the next inning. I am just as dissapointed in our 2 aces not pitching for squat.

The impressive things about beating Rivera is that good old Uribe just took the pitch he was given and drove it to right. I was afraid he would pull off and pop up or K. Way to go Juan. Hat's off to Hermy and Rowand. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Dustin Hermanson now has as many saves as Rivera. We just beat Rivera. Was someone on ESPN saying that Rivera is a Cy Young candidate? Dustin should just point at the sky and pump his fist and smile. It amazes me that ESPN guys like Brantley still don't have a clue. The Yankmees just might not even make the playoffs. -

We may have a heart attack before this year is over, but with wins like this you gotta love the Sox. 3 games, low scoring and by one run differences. WOW! -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) a month ago everyone was giving PODS the MVP for the season, in fact he was dubbed the key to our turnaround. Check yourself on this issue. Pods is one of the reasons we are who we are, why gooch is so good, and why pitchers fear our lineup at least a little. I hope you understand that most of the posts are simply stating the reality of what has been happening. I for one am not criticizing just pointing out what is happening with performance. I hope it's just a slump that most all players go into. -

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) Uribe has absolutely NO plan going to the plate other than swinging at every pitch. After last year's display I have to admit Uribe this year has been a tremendous let down. He pulls off everything. I remember reading lst year that Uribe was a hard headed player when it came to Walker trying to get him to do things a but different at the plate. When he listened he was really good and when he didn't we got what we have now. -

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) I wonder if Pods is going to start pressing soon and change his swing. I mean, he hit 12 HRs last year. He has power. We may be in the minority, but there are times when it appears that Pods is lost at the plate. I don't see good swings at the ball and he takes a lot of strikes. Yes, the demon has speed, but he has gotten thrown out more recently. I am hoping he is just in a slump and will come out of it soon. But, I would like to see more aggressiveness with the lumber and a bit more power even if it's just doubles.
