  1. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) How good are garland's chances at the cy young award now? I hope after today Ozzie finds a spot in the rotation for BMac. If you want to win/clinch don't you play your hot hans? BMAC has been super and we should be taking advantage of that.
  2. Just logged on to see what was happening. Kind of wish I had remained in the dark.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) I'm still pissed we got rid of Shingo for Jenks. No way Shingo would have allowed 3 runs at Boston yesterday. Please fathom don't let one game cloud your thinking. Shingo sucked many many times this year. I did hope though that he might stay in Charlotte and try to work out his pitchinbg problems, but I am happy he caught on with the Mets. Of course at this writing he blew another game for the Mets.
  4. I would go with Crede and I can't believe anyone would suggest Blum or Ozuna as appropriate full-time replacements. Sorry!
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) 8.5 game lead. I'll take 2 out of 3 any series, but it would have been nice to see some life in the offense the last two games. They should be playing now like it was playoff time. You need to have fire when trailing in the last couple innings.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) Well, they sure seemed to be annoyed with it last night. They sure did, but I agree with WhiteSoxFan99 too. I feel strongly both ways about this one
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) I disagree. He relies on his high fastball to get hitters out. A finesse pitcher, in my opinion, is someone who tries to hit the corners with their pitches and relies on location instead of stuff. Cotts doesn't strike me as the type who tries to hit the corners. I like Neal Cotts, but both Cotts and Marte haven't done the job when called in the last few games
  8. I like the looks of that Anderson kid, but he's had only one good game since being called up. I would like to see Borchard replace Everett and get a look at Joe for awhile. See what he has learned.
  9. You could see the hitting slump coming though couldn't you?
  10. The Royals are playing small ball a la Ozzie with that bunt. Why do our guys go through these dead looking periods?
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) Are you a personal friend of Marte? The dude is supposed to be a lefty specialist. WHY CAN'T HET GET LEFTIES OUT? Marte has been average eo below average for a while now. It's not like this was his first bad performance in a while. Valid point!
  12. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) School started, vacations over, playing the worst team in baseball. Take your pick Wel, I can see all those things being a factor, but it's White Sox baseball and they are the best. You would think 25K plus even it is the Royals.
  13. Can anyone tell this out-of-towner why the home attendance is down?
  14. You gotta love the Hermy! The guy has only 1 blown save all year. He is always coming up big for the team.
  15. Marte gave up a 2 run homer last night and hits the first two tonight. He has not pitched at all this year like we have seen in tghe past.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:21 AM) It's not the panic, it's the fact that Ozzie continues to make the same mistake with Duque in his starts. When everyone but the manager thinks the pitcher should be pulled, it makes you scratch your head. Ozzie seems to be overly concerned with the starters going 7 innings. El Duque is good for 6.
  17. What I believe: I believe the Sox management is crazy if Konerko isn't resigned to a long term contract. He has been the team leader all year and briging it with the lumber. I am also impressed with his improved defensive play.
  18. I was so happy to see that this makeup game was going to be broadcast by ESPN. I was thoroughly impressed by BMAC and I can hardly believe the calls to trade this guy. You have to keep your eye on the future and BMAC will be a staff leader. He has shut down 2 potent offenses in a row. If it weren't for some shody defense and brain cramp by Jenks we would have had 2 shut outs in a row. That's some impressive performances down the stretch run.
  19. Frustration with a losing streak can make people say strange things like "this team is dead" or "we can't win without Griffey" etc. But as others said the Sox have been at the top all year long. We know we can't win 162 games in a season and as much as we want to win every game you know you will go throuhg slumps. Luckily our slumps haven't equated into losing our dominance in our division. If we continue to start hitting on all cylinders we can ride this into the WS. We have a dominant pitching staff and good enough hitting to win against anyone. The only regret I have is the the Big Hurt isn't healthy and playing.
  20. All you have to do to see this team may be in trouble in the playoffs is to look at their second half record. I hope they get in turned around in Sept, but they need to play with some fire.
  21. I want the Big Hurt back in the lineup this year and for more to come. He is Mr White Sox now in my opinion.
  22. I was there in Seattle and saw him do this. I heard comments from peple tghat they had never witnessed a pitcher throw 100 plus MPH before. I think he is still learning though since Richie Sexson took him to right field for a hit, but it might have been a lucky swing too. Jenks is good!
  23. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) I brought up Borchard over the weekend only to be met by rasberries. He should be here soon enough. I mean why not...like you said...at least an option who couldn't do any worse than some of these skirts right now. Not by me. I would support Joe Borchard being called up. In fact I think he should have been here before the Anderson kid who needs more seasoning.
