  1. Hermy blew it with a homer last inning and if he isn't right on we can see the horror of it all again.
  2. I was going to post something like, "I have seen Timo come through in the clutch before." But, I didn't want to jink it. On the other hand Ozuna has been brutal at bat and in the field lately.
  3. AJ takes a called 3rd strike! What the ----?
  4. Good job by Carl. We need the runners now...
  5. Konerko jacks one, but we need one or two more runs. There is that problem with our pitchers today. 3 homers and everytime we get close they have to give the A's another run.
  6. third out recorded by Hemy was one batter too late
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) There's simply no f***ing excuse for Cotts to have been facing Melhuse. Cotts is the last person you want pitching with the bases loaded, especially after he looked like s*** that inning. I like Cotts, but I agree that when they ain't got it they ain't got it. Shouldn't leave someone in there in situations like that. We have a good bullpen so bring someone else in to pitch.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) 100 pct agree with that. Just wait til someone says how we have the best record in baseball, and Ozzie should never be second-guessed. He does manage sometimes to the voices his stomach makes when the old gut grumbles.
  9. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) even if we lose this game we have the break to think about things, as you can see we need a week or couple days off to recuperate after this dumbass sereis Maybe with a roster move or 2 we can get some subs. Ozuna should not be playing 3B and we need someone to replace Timo as the sub OF'er and 1B sub. If Crede is ok with his back he will be at 3B, but he really doesn't have a true back up. Gload will probably be up and Marte back also.
  10. Pathetic game so far. Pitching wise the deciding factor is the A's may have given up 11 hits, but only 1 walk. Sox pitchers have given up 7 free pases. Politte is the one holding them now. We get offense and the pitching falls apart.
  11. Uribe got his butt chewed by Ozzie last night. You would think the guy would be motivated to play harder and better. No such luck.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) Garcia always struggles when he relies on his offspeed pitches too much. This is vintage April/May Garcia from this year, where every time he got hurt, it was on an offspeed pitch. I think you are exactly right in the analysis. Freddie has great stuff and is most effective when using the fastball and coming back with a curve or sinker. He satrts to rely on slow stuff and gets hammered.
  13. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) 74 pitches for Freddy!!! The BP will make its pay today. I get a bit tired of Freddies inconsistency. He can be great for several games and then it's like he just doesn't shw the effort. 4 runs in 4 innings today plus 2 HR's allowed is not what we need against Oakland. The guy has so much talent he should be blowing these guys away.
  14. Let's drop the "Trade Konerko" talk please. As soon as Paulie heats up and starts bashing the ball in clutch situations, which he will, everyone will be cheering for him again. The whole offensive team scked this Oakland series. Frank came through with a big situational hit (SF in the 6th) but no one else could do anything.
  15. I think any of out starters have shown they can be the big game pitcher. However, our anemic offense is going to have to put it in gear. We also had Pablo Ozuna playing a very bad defensive game and he has done this before, but the offense or pitching have covered for his poor skills at 3B.
  16. Trading for an average at best pitcher coming of the DL? This doesn't make any sense and then on top of that giving up prospects? I hope not!
  17. These announcers/commentators are like the wind. You never know which direction they are going to blow and bow to. Gammons probably doesn't remember what place he picked the Sox to finish. Heh, we are the best team in baseball and I don't need Gammons to tell me that. Enjoy this season folks casue I sure am.
  18. Paul Konerko will re-sign as the Sox 1Bman. Frank Thomas will be back as the DH and Dye will play RF. Carl Everett may be gone, but then again maybe not. Rumor is that he might be on the trading block. Brian Anderson and/or Joe Borchard will be the 4th and/or 5th OF'er. Timo will be gone also so the question will be do we sign a reserve IF'er or have the 5th OF'er? Dye will not be playing at IB. I love Frank Thomas, but to say PK will not be there simply because Thomas hit the homer last night only goes to show that old saying, "what have you done for me lately." Lately in this case meaning last night. We shouldn't think so negatively or be so near sighted.
  19. QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 05:09 AM) I think he's a top 5 manager. Why not try something new? It's gotta be frustrating having such a bad pen. Don Nelsonesque. Lou P wants to win even if it a loopy idea to try. But, then again there have been other things done out of the box. I believe that in 1967 Eddie Stanky batted pitcher Gary Peters in the 6th spot at least once and used him as a pinch hitter beecasue The Brat said Peters could hit better than most of his regulars.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) Losing that much offense makes so much sense too. I sense Carl and Paully gone. I sense Frank is a Sox player his entire career. Carl Everett is probably gone, but Paul Knerko and Frank Thomas will be staying. There won't be any block buster trade made, but we may possibly pick up another relief pitcher. Interesting to see how Jenks works out this week. You will not lose the players previosuly mentioned just to sign a picther with declining numbers from Florida. Why would the Marlins depart with Burnett, if he is still effective? They are in the NL race and have shown they can compete with the best. They have needs like all the others and to give up a starter for whoever doesn't make much sense. I think this is why they call things rumors and make threads like this. It's fun to speculate. I could start one too: Shoeless Joe is coming back...
  21. McCarthy down and even though he has had maybe 2 good starts the kid has not be very impressive. He gives up a lot of homers and is terribly inconsistent. He just isn't ready. This is another example though of the Sox farm hands (esp. pitchers) failing to come through. Discouraging, but I have to keep reminding myself that that are young and inexperienced. Walker will go back when Marte is ready after the All-Star game and El Duque will be back too. Who goes down then? Timo maybe?
