GAME THREAD 6-1-2005 SOX VS HALOS
elrockinMT replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) What are the chances this guy shuts us down, making us look awful in the process? Contreras gets McPherson, goes 1-0 to Molina. If this was last year I would say it was a cinch that the newbie shut us out on 1 hit and had 12 K's. This year it's only 90% i HAVE TO WATCH MY SPULLING -

Contreras at just over ninety pitches already. Not looking real good at all today. I am watching ESPN2 -

It's strangely reassuring to know that Juan Uribe can still suck whenever he wants to. You would have though that maybe he was coming around after getting some hits the last game or so. -

He needs to pee on his hand to toughen up the skin. Hopefully that's all he has is a blister and not arm trouble. We might see him on the DL and McCarthy up again. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Crede sucks and K's, but don't worry, he has a positive attitude. Aw, that's so cute. It's not just Crede mind you. We have along list of "usual suspects" that are floundering. Konerko, Everett, Crede & Dye lead the pack. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Wow, Gameday sure went to Hell there on the White Sox game all of a sudden. It's currently telling me that it's the first inning again. Same here, but I have no clue what's up with the game as gameday is frozen in time -
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 30, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) For the record timo still blows. I say sign him to a contract extension. Sorry Qwerty, but the sweet intoxication of a victory has clouded my otherwise sheer horror of some of the last few at bats I have seen Timo look terrible.
-
I wanted to vote for a third option an that was "maybe". However, I think Jon can win 20 or more.
-
I support my team! Joe Crede will come around.
-
Thanks for the report Fotop. I watched on WGN and thought much the same as far as the hitters were concerned. I was probably more disappointed in Pods and Konerko at the plate even though Paulie did get robbed. Everett was looking better and so was Uribe. Jon didn't do that bad considering.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 28, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) How long after start time do they usualy give before calling it off. I have only seen recorded games before. Wouldn't you know it, I finaly get MLB TV and this happens So your the one...

Willie seems to produce when given the chance. Uribe needs to sit at least a couple games and be right next to Walker on the bench and listen to the man tell him how to hit. Uribe knows how not to get a hit for sure. I would like to see Willie get some more playing time.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 28, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) JimH is the Soxtalk resident travel advisor. I was impressed. JimH have you ever been to Denver? I am going June 7-8 to see the Sox.

QUOTE(drowninginflame @ May 28, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) I'll give Mcarthy a pass on tonight, cause he's a rookie and needs to develop still. but man, the offense of the Sox need to get moving. I am ready to hop on this trade bandwagon. The trouble is who do we trade, with whom do we trade and what do we hope to get in return? I am not so certain a trade is needed as much as our hitting coach needs to kick some of these "dead men walking types" in the pants. The ones I have seen that try and situationally hit are led by Tadahito and even Rowand. They go with the picth and go to the opposite field more han the others do. Everyone else tries to pull the ball out of the park. Everett stands there pumping that bat back and forth and swinging as hard as he can instead of just putting it in lay. Uribe swings wild and pulls off the pitch. Crede, Dye, Timo, etc, all suck. I believe they can and will do better, but when?

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 28, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) If I'm not mistaken, and I may very well be, didn't this kid pitch well against us in Chicago? I thought we beat him, but he wasn't bad, but maybe he did win? My goodness it has been so long ago. Look at the Angel game when we went up against a rookie pitcher with an ERA over 7 and he shuts us out. I think it's just our puny offense. We are really sputtering and nothing seems to work out. I saw the 9th inning at bat highlight where Timo was robbed by Mench when we had 2 on, but we also have a lot of failing to advance or score runners with less than 2 outs. Pretty pathetic and hopefully they start to produce.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:31 AM) Good inning by Cotts, maybe we can get some offense. Let's hope so. Neal Cotts does have a good future with this team in my opinion, but I am not sure he should be a reliever. Starting is where he should be at. -

QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) Donnelly threw 16 pitches, only 6 for strikes. I did my job then. I made Donnely THINK he was a fireballer and he lost it -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:09 AM) Not to sound like a jackass, but Donnelly is anything but a fireballer. He's all about late movement, etc. Exactly the type of pitcher who kicks our ass. Didn't he used to be then? I only have MLB game day so I can't see, I can't see I tell you -

The problem is these guys haven't been able to hit squat and now we get a real fireballer coming in. Hope they can prove me wrong -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2005 -> 04:03 AM) He should have never f***ing thrown a first pitch fastball to Dallas. I'm so happy Ozzie went to the mound to tell him that.....f*** that. Ozzie was playing by his gut. Problem is it was growling and grumbling and he thought it was talking to him. -
