  1. Ultimately I'm not too worried because I think the present version is basically a fine player and I don't see it as especially likely he gets worse (other than, of course, everybody can get worse). About league average ISO, about league average production overall, defense is good and could be great if he cleans up some of the aspects you would think are the easy ones. At the plate, I appreciate seeing some adaptability. Seems to hunker down in key situations and try not to get beat by the pitcher's best pitch even if it's what he's weak against. And every now and then he gets off a nice ambush swing like his last PA that makes me think he knows that he needs to take some A-swings and catch something out front.
  2. Interesting thing to me is he's been a lot less productive from the right side but some of the underlying metrics would make you think he'd be better from that side. Swings harder, has better bat angle at point of attack. He claims he feels better/more natural from that side but I think he's easier to pitch to as a righty
  3. Dickheads wanted to make sure we had to cover two innings with non-Grant relievers
  4. 102mph pulled in the air and that's the AB we want to talk about no power
  5. I'm looking for the Braden slump in the data and I'm not finding it
  6. Sometimes it's luck, sometimes it's some kind of deception that makes the hittable pitches not so hittable
  7. Assad has outperformed his metrics for long enough that you have to consider that the metrics may not apply to him
  8. Not sure what the optimal strategy is with the pitching for the 8th.
  9. My man that you're all trying to put on the bench
  10. Bregman is dying to hit a blooper right now
  11. PCA hits everything reasonably well, but from the numbers it looks like velocity is a pretty decent strategy against him
  12. Good start to the AB, already have a missed call
  13. Seems like Grant will pitch to PCA regardless of what happens
  14. I think they can keep him in the minors for a couple more years if they want as long as he stays on the 40-man
  15. I see Shane Smith had another stinker. Remember when people say the Sox had to have everything go right to have a winning season, our opening day starter is blowing ass in AAA
  16. Every time Happ swings I think he killed it
  17. Fedde never has much but he goes out there and tries to give it all
  18. Sox not going to add a pitcher for this one? I guess if they want to give Fedde a quasi-start, they can give it a try and see whether they need more insurance for tomorrow. I just figured they want might want to gamble on someone with a little higher chance of being good (even if you're also raising the chance of a shitshow).
  19. Pitcher decisions in Sox extra inning losses: Boston: Fedde L, Brazoban and Richards BS Minnesota: Tyler Davis L A's: Leasure BS, Lucas Sims L Nationals, part 1: Jordan Leasure L Nationals, part 2: Seranthony Dominguez L Detroit: Seranthony Dominguez BS, Brandon Eisert BS + L Cleveland part 1: Grant Taylor L (unearned, Manfred man); Joe Rock allowing a run in 8th turns Sox comeback into a tie instead of go-ahead in the 9th Cleveland part 2: Hudson BS, Newcomb L [Note: Seranthony gets a hold here, giving up 2 runs. Hudson gets the BS allowing Seranthony's runners to score] Cincinnati: Grant Taylor BS (allows Hudson's runners to score), Newcomb L (Manfred man) IDK what it all means but it reminds me we may be limited in what we can learn from results far earlier in the season. Seranthony in particular was involved in so many of these games in a generally unproductive way. Lot of other guys who are no longer around. Hagen might be joining them before long.
