  1. From watching White Sox games, I can only conclude that Keider Montero is the greatest pitcher alive.
  2. Montero gave us hell last time out. Hope it looks different this time around.
  3. The recent CBAs have arguably been terrible for the White Sox. By the league's internal metrics, the Sox are basically the poorest and worst off team that is classified as too rich and well-off to get any help from the revenue sharing and competitive balance systems. If the Sox do well financially, they will have to share a bit with the poorer teams. If they do poorly, they are on their own. And they get the big-market penalties with regard to draft lottery, compensatory picks, international spending, etc.
  4. As soon as we get a lineup with about 6 MLB-quality hitters, we want to trade one
  5. I'm starting to wonder whether it was just mis-reported about him being slated to catch yesterday.
  6. Jake replied to BamaDoc's topic in FutureSox Board
I thought the plan was for Teel to catch on back to back nights before they "reevaluate" whether he's ready for a call-up. Is him DHing tonight a change of plans or was I mistaken about the plan?
  7. Well, hope you pick one up tomorrow. These have been close games, offense just hasn't been all the way there. Pitching matchups have been extremely unfavorable to the Sox so far even though our side of the pitching has mostly held up its side of the bargain. Skubal and Melton are really good pitchers and we haven't seen the bad parts of their bullpen (other than Kenley, you might argue). Tomorrow's matchup is better for the Sox even if we're all wondering whether Davis is going to get it back together.
  8. Nice cut from Romo but no joy.
  9. Yeah I mean obviously the sample size is small but he has the qualities one might expect a good 3B to have. Yes, I have no doubt he's the best 3B although that doesn't mean he should always be there since, as you say, he's also the best SS.
  10. I don't really care about Colson getting innings at 3B. I want the players aligned in whatever way makes the team defense the best. Meidroth is good at SS but I suspect his arm might limit him a bit as a 3B, so the team may well be better defensively with him at SS and Colson at 3B than the other way around. And I think Antonacci's infield D is best hidden at 2B so you're kinda stuck with him there, IMO. Not to mention that you now have the advantage that Colson is getting increasingly experienced at 3B so it's not exactly playing a guy out of position. I don't remotely think it puts him at injury risk or anything like that. That being said, I recall James Fegan saying that a reasonable assumption is that the White Sox's internal evaluation of Colson's defense at SS is probably a shade less optimistic than the couple public metrics that have him at a top-top level.
  11. Did I miss a defensive substitution? Weren't there just two pinch hitters?
  12. To me, it is clear that Romo is the one to go when Teel comes back. He has no chance up there.
  13. Yeah I mean I'm not passing a judgment on his physical abilities but the throws have been not very good at all and they come out looking like they are from a guy whose arm hurts or something. Fastest velo Statcast has from him on an outfield throw thus far is 92 and that's not very impressive for a MLB outfielder. Most guys throw harder in the OF than the mound. And he's certainly had opportunities where you'd expect him to air it out.
  14. Not clear to me who was supposed to be pitching instead of Rock
  15. Contrary to scouting reports, Braden has looked excellent at catching fly balls but weak-armed + inaccurate throwing.
  16. Are we expecting Sandlin tomorrow?
  17. More likely than not, Sox won't win this one. But not a bad loss, all things considered. Disappointing that a defensive mistake from your best defender may be the difference.
  18. Wonder if the Sox haven't given Braden the green light to challenge. He's had some egregious misses against him and he always seems to know they're misses, but hasn't challenged yet that I can recall.
  19. Murphy's dirty secret is that his stuff is great. If he can throw it where he wants he'll be a good pitcher. It's just been a pretty big if so far.
  20. Give up the lead and now you find yourself needing clean innings from Murphy. Good luck!
  21. I can't complain about Grichuk's production, but man bless the scout who saw a guy whose swing looked like that and still managed to see a future productive hitter in there.
  22. Dive was even worse given how well Fedde has been pitching today. It would be different if you knew you had not much chance of getting out of the inning without more hitting. Just keep it in front and keep the game tied and Fedde isn't that likely to give up another hit.
  23. That dive was a PCA-esque mistake.
