2026 MILB Catch-All
That's nice to hear about him. I wonder when we will next be seeing Drew, Ky, and Prelander.

At what point do we start to believe?
All I believe is that the team is a real MLB baseball team that will have good times and bad times in some combination. There are some nice young players and there are some very weak links. Staying out of last place will be a victory but that victory is not assured.

Is it time to bring up Hagen Smith?
Watching Hagen's starts has been pretty concerning for me. There's no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to baseball prospects, but I would have said this about Noah Schultz: this is a guy who is not going to implode. Maybe he ends up unsuccessful, but it would likely be due to just giving up too much hard contact (or injury). That said, I'll admit I was feeling dumb after seeing his first MLB inning! But I think that's still basically right for Noah. Hagen is very different. Of course, he's very talented so he may be successful. But the floor for Hagen would be a major shitshow. Walking everybody while mixing in the occasional blast. Javy Vasquez's worst innings, basically. So from him I want to see more at the AAA level where he doesn't look like the kind of guy who has that kind of downside. Instead, he looks exactly that way every time out, like he's on a knife's edge with his control where it could fall apart at any moment. Even worse, Hagen's velo is lower than expected and he's shown a notable drop in velo within each outing. He was averaging around 91mph in his last inning in his most recent outing. And mind you, it wasn't like the Sox were really pushing his pitch count! I don't know if he's intentionally dialing it back to try to throw strikes, if he's getting tired, or if he's hurt, but I don't really like any of those explanations.

White Sox signing Randal Grichuk to major league deal
Assumption on my part is Hays is heading back to the IL. FWIW, Grichuk's expected stats in New York were a lot better than his actual stats. That said, he's not all that exciting of a player even when he's got the luck on his side.

If they tied the game and Hays was indeed unavailable, I have no idea what the B9 defense was going to look like.

5/3 Games
Is that a more recent development than the reported tendonitis at the beginning of spring training?

When Mason Miller throws his slider in the "waste" zone, meaning they miss the zone by over a foot, hitters still swing over 50% of the time. Might be the nastiest pitch in baseball.

Mason Miller gonna Mason Miller

Quero very easy to pitch to for Miller because Miller very consistently hits the spot right above the strike zone and Quero is completely unable to touch pitches in that area

30 pitches last night from Grant likely means he's out of commission for a couple days.

They have pitched Mune masterfully today. Only one pitch even close to the meat of the zone and that was a wicked changeup from Canning on the first pitch of the game. If you consistently place pitches exactly on the absolute edges of the zone like this, you'll definitely beat him. His whole deal is just assuming that pitchers won't be able to do that very consistently.

Sheets's ability to make contact on higher than high fastballs is incredible. Perhaps not advisable, but still amazing.

That was a fantastic inning by Morejon. Pounded the edges of the zone and never made a mistake. And did it with incredible stuff.

That's true but his arsenal is completely different now. He didn't throw sinker or cutter when he was last in MLB. Used to throw lots of slow curves. Shape of the four-seamer and slider is different now. And he's gained velo. Might just be different lipstick on the same pig in the end but I wouldn't assume that everything translates exactly the same way.
