Dear USA, Do any and all involvement through the UN. We don't want an American invasion of another Middle Eastern country. Use those fancy drones of yours when applicable. Sincerely, People that remember our other recent wars

QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 11:47 PM) I am 95% sure Android 5.0 will be announced at Google I/O. As for a new Nexus, that might be towards the end of the year. But a new Motorola Nexus-esque phone may be announced at Google I/O. No promises though. A new Motorola phone did get leaked by some Vietnamese site and it is sexy as hell. If the X Phone is anything like that, damn. The bezel on the phone is super thin and it's got softkey navigation. It looks about as close to stock Android as you can get. http://androidcommunity.com/motorola-devic...uatch-20130318/ Android 5.0...sounds like it could be great, but I feel like I should know better at this point. The 4.1 to 4.2 jump alone was pretty damn good for me.

I'm really pretty torn about HTC One vs Samsung S4 at this point, but I'm going to bide my time at this point. Maybe more end users b****ing and moaning about this and that will make things more obvious. And apparently we may hear about a new Nexus in May?
-
I don't have as much brand trust in HTC, but I think their new One is the best phone available at this point.

I have seen no evidence that Gavin Floyd is mentally weak short of the fact that he is inconsistent. Maybe that's because...he's an inconsistent player. People seem to think that you can simply will a ball into the strike zone and if you don't do that, you're a p****.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) I honestly think Miami would have a similar record, but it's impossible to know simply because you then have no idea who Rose has a small forward nor who LeBron has at "point guard." LeBron in Cleveland is really not that much different than Rose in Chicago. LeBron will have Nate Robinson and like it.
-
The most remarkable thing about LeBron is that he doesn't get hurt. If he got hurt, it'd be a new ballgame. Has LeBron ever missed significant time for an injury? He's hardly even had any of those nagging "it might be affecting him" injuries like Wade has for seasons at a time. His run of good health is a big part of his value that most people don't think about. A good question to ask would be: which team is hurt more by losing their best player - Bulls or Heat? The Heat have improved their bench/supporting cast a fair bit by this year, but it is worth wondering. The Bulls are in 6th place right now, which is probably not as good as the Heat would do. Then again, the Bulls have had for more injuries to deal with than just Derrick. We looked like a 2-3 seed at one point this year.

I think it is a horrendous rule regardless. I was trying to explain it to someone who doesn't really watch much basketball and it was like I was speaking Mandarin...it doesn't make sense unless someone says "this is just how it works now quit asking questions"

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) Bulls sign Malcolm Thomas to a 10-day contract as reported by Aggrey Sam. I've been tweeting at all the beat people saying we should grab him, glad somebody was listening. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:33 PM) You should change your name to something worthwhile and then post more. lol QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 06:15 PM) You should get Marty to post on your site. His sources have Hahn bringing back Ozzie in a year or 2. I wondered how long this would go without that being brought up.

Okay I actually did a bracket and it came out like this: MSU OSU Kansas IU OSU over IU 65-60 in the title game. That is the culmination of about 5 minutes worth of thinking.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 04:12 PM) While I agree that kids don't know how to drink, as I sure as hell didn't at that age, there were plenty of situations in which I was making out with a girl at a party and she got black out drunk the same night yet I never felt inclined to, entitled to or in the right to have non-consensual sex with her. I was more interested in seeing if we could get together another night. Not to mention the thought of filming it, laughing about it and sharing it. Talk about sick. That alone shows me these sick f***s felt untouchable and simply didn't give a damn. Didn't they call themselves the "rape crew"? That was at least reported by whichever alternative sources initially. They know that some would look down upon what they did, but they're entitled to it anyway.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 01:13 PM) lmao. Oh snap. I didn't even see the "confirmed" part. Damn. Manti teo soxobama steve May you all rest in peace. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) Ha. I'm obviously not actively staring at their asses or anything, but Flowers has a monster trunk from which a lot of his power is generated. AJ's power is much more quick wrists and sending the bat through the zone quickly (which is why he can make contact like he does) while Flowers comes from drive from his legs, which is why his bat speed is slower, he'll strike out more, but he'll also hit more home runs. He generates all kinds of power from those legs, and if he didn't have them, he'd be a 6'4, 215 and he'd go by the name Cole Armstrong. I always think of T-Flow's massive round belly that he started sporting early last year. I don't think he has it anymore.

I'm interested in their thoughts on Alexei. He had some important downward stats last year, but he was coming off of a career year value-wise. He could very well be near the top next year and his placement on that list seems like a worst case scenario, which isn't that bad. They talk about ADA reverting to his "pre-2011" form -- what the hell is that? playing in the minor leagues? He had no track record until the White Sox gave him a shot and he's done well since. I think he's a candidate for regression (though his finish to the season dropped his numbers quite a bit) but that was a stupid statement. As far as 3B goes, it seems that it is just a fairly deep position in the league. Kep will do a decent job and be a HUGE improvement. I think there is some chance that they overrated Kep and underrated Gillaspie, but that's just a hunch on my part. Some platooning should benefit both of their numbers greatly. 2B seems to be on the money, though maybe on the optimistic side.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) Soooo, with two people out, I'm thinking the league isn't going to make it as is. I'd need AT LEAST two new guys, if not 4 (though the logistics of going back to 12 would be tough). As for a new one, I've got MAYBE 4 after sending out PM's with no response. Let me know people! Keep me posted, I'll be down for whatever.

Has the game been played yet? Was Derrick not on the court?

Nobody in the Sox organization would support a full rebuild. We will always try to make the current team as good as we can, within reason. The Sox will be willing to have seasons where they don't have a great outlook, but they never will intentionally gut the major league club. It's not good business to rebuild -- you should be as close to contending as possible as often as possible. This doesn't mean you can't trade a Carlos Quentin or save some money in offseasons in which you don't like the major free agents, but it means you wouldn't ever trade an Alexei Ramirez, Dayan, Sale, Rios or other major pieces (well paid and not) before a season like this one.
-
All I can say about John Danks' health is that he better be healthy -- I'm getting a shoulder surgery from the same doc in May and I hope he keeps up his good run on Sox pitchers in the meantime

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) Indiana Don't Care Don't Care Don't Care Illinois Don't Care Don't Care Don't Care BTW, isn't it odd that this is the only sport that we care so much about who the final FOUR teams are? Usually it's 1, or 2, or 8...

My take on 21 Jump Street was that it was pretty funny but a terrible movie. Reminds me of The Brothers Solomon, where I did quite a bit of laughing but couldn't help but walking away feeling like what I saw was total crap. See Anchorman for a reference as to what a good movie that is also really funny is like. I'll get some pushback here but I thought the original Hangover was pretty damn good too. I also thought Gran Torino was absolutely hilarious, but I might be alone on that one.

FWIW, I frequently make stuff happen in my pocket and/or hand with my iPhone because I forget to lock it. I think the lesson we need to learn is to lock our phones.

2013 Win-Loss Prediction Thread - Annual and Official
Jake replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Let's get this straight -- there are some similarities between Q and Buehrle, but Q has significantly better stuff than Buehrle. Q's average fastball velocity last year was 90.4. Buehrle's career high was 87.1, and that was in 2002. We can argue back and forth about the quality of the offspeed pitches (I believe Buehrle's off speed repertoire is no good, he simply uses them brilliantly), but the 3 mph is a tremendous difference. Q as a velocity pitcher is closer to Chris Sale as a starter (91.6) than Mark Buehrle. -
I'm sure Steve knew what he was getting himself into, and like they said at RealGM....not much to lose

One more goal and I'm watching something else. EDIT: at least let them fight! jeeeeez
