Are we expecting Sandlin tomorrow?

More likely than not, Sox won't win this one. But not a bad loss, all things considered. Disappointing that a defensive mistake from your best defender may be the difference.

Wonder if the Sox haven't given Braden the green light to challenge. He's had some egregious misses against him and he always seems to know they're misses, but hasn't challenged yet that I can recall.

Brutal luck there.

Murphy's dirty secret is that his stuff is great. If he can throw it where he wants he'll be a good pitcher. It's just been a pretty big if so far.

Give up the lead and now you find yourself needing clean innings from Murphy. Good luck!

I can't complain about Grichuk's production, but man bless the scout who saw a guy whose swing looked like that and still managed to see a future productive hitter in there.

Dive was even worse given how well Fedde has been pitching today. It would be different if you knew you had not much chance of getting out of the inning without more hitting. Just keep it in front and keep the game tied and Fedde isn't that likely to give up another hit.

That dive was a PCA-esque mistake.

Vargas has been crushing the ball in this series and has hardly anything to show for it

Big spot for Benny here. Just keep the ball off the ground

Will probably told Sean this is your last inning, go ahead and let it rip

Cruz is basically the worst possible matchup for Braden. Struggles against changeups and Cruz has the best splitter around and throws it every pitch.

AFAICT, the only thing that may have violated the rules on the slide is the way he popped up

Umps doing everything they can to help the Yanks. FWIW I think they hosed Braden on the check swing strike 3 but can't say for sure given that the wonderful CHSN broadcast didn't even comment on it, let alone show a replay.

Sure looks out on the replay. But it appears there's no objectivity with these replay officials given that they just botched a very similar play to end last inning.

6/17 GT - White Sox @ Yankees (6:05pm CST)
Edgar ranks 88 out of 91 for runs he costs the team by challenging (i.e., he's third worst). He's second worst if you ignore the game situation and focus solely on how many challenges he wins vs. loses given the opportunities he's had. The only way you can make him look "good" is if you just look at the sheer number of challenges won, which he ranks modestly high at, but that's only because he challenges a higher percentage of pitches than any catcher in MLB. The portion of his challenges rated as "reasonable" (based on the pitch location and the count/game situation) is near the worst as well.

Every game Ozzie goes on TV and gives advice that, if Colson listened to it, would cause him to become the guy who was striking out at a 50% rate in AAA in early 2025. His whole breakthrough was driven by accepting his limitations and not trying to be a complete, all-fields, high-contact hitter.

Horrific job by the umpire in Braden's AB. Missing two completely different locations by a clear margin in 3 pitches.

More confirmation to me that Pereira is in Kelenic mode trying too hard to prove it against his former team. Explains his poor ABs

In case you were wondering, in spring training Teel graded out as a good challenger using ABS.

Nice contact from Gonzalez but Sox aren't getting those today.
