  1. I love that magic that lefties have against other lefthanders.
  2. If we won a game by four, the game thread would be saying that we don't have the offense to blow anybody out. When we lose by four, it's a blowout.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) I wouldn't go that far, but he did do his job today and saved the bullpen from disaster while keeping the Sox within striking distance. The line up is filled with too many out makers. I'm not suggesting he be on the ML roster, but KW is very high on him and I have to wonder if anyone else would have picked him as the guy coming up today. Worked out nicely so far. BTW, Lilli is freaking hopeless against righties
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Really, this isn't a rebuilding pitching staff? I see, that's why we've got Philip Humber and Chris Sale tearing it up as starters, right? Guys we could count on through thick and thin. Guys with long records of consistency. How many teams have 5 starters with a good track record? You're bound to have to take some chances and win on them.
  5. I remember when Aaron Cunningham was the next coming.
  6. Apparently KW's man-crush on Quintana may be warranted.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) 3.2 IP, 1 H, 2 BB. He did walk in a run but overall great work by Quintana Is he going back out? I want MOAR
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) This is a game thread. You're supposed to conclude that whatever he does in his first outing will represent what he will do for his entire career. Haha, well. A brief personal experience for you: My first college outing came in a tight game with the bases loaded and nobody out. I proceeded to hit 4 straight batters. I recovered once I got into our rotation later that year, but I'm not sure if my ego ever did
  9. Trying not to read too much into this poor kid's first big league outing. Not fun to come in for the first tiime in a jam like this
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Keep pitching him and hope he turns it around. If he ends up showing he can't be counted on as a starter in future Sox rotations, then holy crap, is the starting rotation depth awful. You're looking at Danks.......and no one else if Floyd is traded. Hector, your bus to Charlotte is waiting
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) Not true...we'll still have Reed and Thornton for the 2nd game if Stults can pitch well. This. If Quintana gets completely shelled we'll have Lillibridge or somebody pitch
  12. At this point, the move to send Axelrod down for more bullpen depth is going to really pay off for us.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) He was pulled out of the game due to injury. AJ Pierzynski made the call to the bullpen. Not Ventura. Yeah, I wonder what degree of fabrication that was.
  14. Let's hope this is all related to the hoopla of the perfect game and his baby being born. Hopefully some time to get back in routine will help him -- he's better than this, has never had control issues.
  15. Wow, I'm shocked that he pulled him given the stuff we've been talking about. Ballsy move by Robin, but he doesn't want to be blown out with their chump on the mound. Let's go whoever comes in!
  16. I have to think if we signed Teahen off the street, he'd outplay Morel right now.
  17. Phil doesn't have the right kind of stuff to beat these guys. Mix that with no control and you get this.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) They need to take out Humber before this gets out of hand. Once again we are having some real stinker at bats with runners in scoring position We're not going to be able to pull him until he gives up a lot of runs. With the doubleheader and an already taxed pen, we have to push him into getting us 5 innings at least.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Solid success in the minor leagues at every level despite being pushed upward very aggressively? I don't know if VERY aggressively is the right way to put it. Let's face it, he's had much more time than most players to prove himself at this level. He has to bat over .220 to keep his spot and he's just not doing it. Send him down to AAA, if we don't have an everyday third baseman somewhere down the line and he puts up good AAA numbers, he can have another crack.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) the f***? I think his intent is for de Aza to bat with men on. I don't necessarily agree, but I believe that was the point
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) Is there really an improvement to this team if Lillibridge replaces Morel? Well at least you're playing a guy who you don't know if he's bad with 100s of consecutive at bats instead of a guy who certainly is bad with full time at bats.
