  1. Damn it! I thought he had all of that. Damn this weather.
  2. Interesting that they're using a bad lefty against us here, lol
  3. Again we have confirmation that bad relief pitching always makes the manager look bad.
  4. You can b**** at Robin for not intentionally walking the bases loaded, but Thornton needs to f***ing pitch. These are problems that are only had by bad pitchers. Thornton has done great against righties throughout his career. The legend of Shelley Duncan's fastball hitting may live on, but Josh Fields would have hit that pitch down the middle. MT needs to just pitch better.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) Walk Duncan to set up force at home against someone who isn't known to just demolish fastballs. I don't know how I would have felt about putting the put-away run on second on purpose.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Walk the bases loaded, set up the DP possibility. Hope and pray Thornton doesn't walk in the run. There was already a man on first?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) More AWFUL managing by Ventura. Duncan's a great fastball hitter, and you have Aaron F'n Cunningham up next. What's the alternative?
  8. What the hell is going on with Thornton? He never used to miss over the plate like this.
  9. For f***'s sake. He's never had control issues, why is this starting now?
  10. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2012 -> 08:21 PM) I really have no clue why they couldn't pick up from this spot tomorrow before the scheduled game...this has been done before no??? I wish
  11. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:33 PM) 1) Hagadone pitched fine? He entered with the game 8-6 with one on and nobody out...the game ended 8-6. He induced two flyballs, a grounder and a he walked a guy. 2) There was absolutely ZERO chance Hagadone wasn't facing Dunn. It just goes to show what happens when your two hole hitter is so bad. The other team has zero fear in facing them righty or lefty. Best case scenario is Lilli finds a way on-base (walk, RBI hit) and the score is 8-6 or 8-7 with Dunn coming up...and we all know that Dunn has almost no chance against LHP. Acta knows this. I think it was a very good move by Acta. Lilli has been equal opportunity suck this season vs. righties or lefties. Did I miss a pitching change? lol Yeah, Ascencio started the inning -- my bad
  12. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 7, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) I'd say that Stults stays and Quintana returns to B'ham. They've held open a roster spot in B'ham for Quintana. They'll already have to make room for Molina in Charlotte as is. I would guess that the original plan was for neither to stay and for us to pitch Axelrod again. At this point, Quintana may be the favorite to get another start in 5th spot -- haven't seen Stults though, of course. You could keep two of the three by demoting Santiago...but my guess is they demote Santiago when Crain comes back.
  13. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) I don't think so. Lilli's a .172 hitter and Dunn's the guy who can beat you...and you want him facing a LHP. Even if Lilli does something positive, odds are it isn't going to tie the game. What does he have? One double? Lilli has been a decent hitter against lefties in his career (hasn't had many ABs this year period) and if Lillbridge gets a hit there, Acta would have had to pull the lefty with how bad he'd been pitching. Bringing in a righty for Dunn could have made things real fun. But in true White Sox #2 hitter fashion, he went down without much a fight to a pitcher that had looked like s*** the whole inning.
  14. LOL terrible managing here for Acta to have Brent face the lefty
  15. God damn it now we have Lillibridge up. Keep the lefty in please!!!
  16. Gordon's swing wasn't bad either. Pick us up De Aza!!
  17. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:12 PM) Team can't be so fragile. The Marlins have had like 5 blown saves this season and have rebounded to play good baseball now. The bullpen blow-ups hurt more at the beginning of last season than this one IMO...I took those much worse. Of course I could just be a year older and more mature lol... Well we don't know if it has hurt their mindset...I doubt it has. I think we haven't played well because of the various reasons a team doesn't play well. Some bad players, bad luck, etc.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) We always look for "turning points" as Sox fans. I wonder if this Sale thing is the one thing that will be the turning point. It had to be deflating to all our veteran players who had to think Sale was a special starter. To just throw a dominant starter into the bullpen this early in the season makes no sense and again ... I think it might be THE turning point to turning the team into the piece of s*** it was expected to be. I'd say all those deflating blown games by the back end of bullpen hurt the team mindset much more than Sale leaving the rotation.
  19. Huge balls for Quintana. He throws that 89mph heater like it's 98. No fear mothaf***a
