  1. You guys are underrating this pitcher big time. He may not always look this way, but there won't be a lot of hitting or contact against him if he throws like he has so far today.
  2. Soxtalk, meet T-Flow
  3. This guy has unbelievable stuff.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) Dunns good times were pretty much tied to Konerkos. Dunn started to fall off as soon as Konerko's wrist became an issue. It helped him tremendously to make pitchers HAVE to pitch to him, especially making them fear walking him. Walking him now is not a problem because PK is a human DP machine. Taking away the fear of the walk just increases the pitcher's boldness in throwing borderline pitches to get outs.

Is your fiancee your source? Is it Kenny Williams?
  6. I remember my public schools teaching that what we did to Germany would likely now be considered a war crime. Yay for realistic public school history education.
  7. I find Jordan Danks to be a very talented baseball player and someone that can still become a starting MLB OF. This is probably the reason the White Sox want him to get some every day at bats. The unfortunate thing is that DeWayne Wise is still not a CF'er, not a good hitter, does not have a good arm, is not a great baserunner, and really probably isn't better than Jordan Danks at anything. But that's okay, this shouldn't affect much of anything.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) I'll eat crow all year if it means the Sox win. I sure hope so since most of us staked our reputations on the Sox losing this year
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) Absolutely, especially if they're not going to try and get some more offense into Konerko's spot for the next week. Danks is nothing more than a late inning defensive replacement. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) It's such a weak swing though. Seems very prone to popping it up to center due to very little torque on his swing. I am confident in saying that in a pennant race, you better not try and play him and Viciedo at the same time for a week. That would seem like a foolish plan. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) You wonder how he hit for all that power in AAA this year. This was the page I left my browser on. So...let the crow be eaten in the name of a White Sox winner!!!
  10. I wonder if Gavin's 8 inches of height and 20 plus pounds would count in a fight.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) I think it's the fact that he is pitched to more carefully in front of Dunn and Konerko, so who wouldn't be a better hitter there. And if that's the case, I'd rather have the performance enhanced version of Youkilis than Gordon.
  12. Who will Ron Artest have to elbow to get a shot in this offense?
  13. Today's lineup is the best way to do it.
  14. Why would the Magic want Gasol?
  15. Bring up Johnson for the remaining time that PK is DL'd. If he does something crazy, find a spot for him on the bench.
  16. This team would have 100 wins RIGHT NOW if it weren't for Matt Thornton
  17. I really liked Bane, my favorite villain. What a badass. I think the cool way the movie ends contributes to everybody walking out of there with a good taste in their mouth.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) Nothing can be worse than Internet news. The blog, the vlogs, the complete lack of any f***ing standards combined with this smug "new media" pretentiousness makes it unbearable. TV news has a long way to go to be that bad. TV news hopes to beat out those sources of information on the internet. The very long term plan at my station was to be ready for a world that no longer watches TV whenever that time comes.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Jake I saw that when it said 30k/week, LOL. Sign me up. Hahaha, that's more like Orlando Hudson's job (tough stuff)

The fact that it's potentially a hate crime makes it possibly a very enticing story. I suppose it is a valid question to ask whether our country cares if Sikhs and/or Muslims are the targets of hate crimes. I hope they care.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 09:13 PM) It would make you sick how much money those local talking head Ron Burgundy a$$holes make. Think of the goofiest weather dork or the bow tied human interest clown or the 50 year old hairpiece headlines reader. They're wiping their butts with $100 bills. The nighttime anchors and the weathermen make good money. Everyone else makes nothing, except the occasional very popular sports guy. Where I worked there were reporters that ended up working ~12 hour days and making about 30k/year. I was warned frequently that the job is not for those looking for money.
  22. I've found saying "I'm Catholic" to be a very good way to make those people go away. I'm not Catholic, but my friend told me to try it. It works very well. One time I told some Mormons that a Mormon murdered my parents. They just stared at me and I walked away pretending to be upset.
  23. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) Here is what I am personally doing. My girlfriend and I have been living together for three years. I am not getting married until gay couples have the same right. I believe any couple who allows the government to determine if they are married is agreeing with the government's definition of marriage. That is my protest. If you took out a marriage license and got married, aren't you agreeing with the government's position? Isn't it ironic to have people saying it is wrong *and* going out and participating by having the government ok their marriage? Kind of like crusading about illegal drug use while being an illegal drug user? Or wearing a wedding ring while saying the government's position is wrong. Very, very interesting position there. I like it.
  24. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Every other candidate was insane, mentally disabled, or extremely hate-able. Romney was the best case scenario for Republicans. this QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) You haven't answered my question. Which of the candidates opposing Romney in the primaries was even close to a reasonable contender? Romney was the weakest candidate...except for all the other pathetic candidates. this. I would have liked to see a good candidate come from the Republican Party, but I'm starting to think one doesn't exist. In a party where the primary campaigns bash "moderation" and "cooperation" I am skeptical of whether that voting base could choose anyone but a moron. Mitt is at least vanilla enough not to turn everybody off. As for Rick Perry, it felt like he was a dumb version of George W. Bush. That's not good. You need more than a "have a beer with him" appeal. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 5, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) LOL Obama has no hope in hell of just about any Southern state and certainly not Utah. This will not be a Reagan-Mondale repeat. I'd be surprised if Obama's Electoral College margin is wider than 2008. I agree with that.
