It's not your opinions that pissed me off, personally. Your opinion that he doesn't belong here, while it can be debated, is fine and dandy. But...saying "f*** NEAL COTTS" - especially in the headline- is rediculous. It's not an opinion or a point of view. It's an attack. It's unfounded. You should have tried: Drop, send down, trade...anything but the "F Bomb." I agree with you there.

I did not get hyped AT ALL about him making a start. Personally, I'm ALL ABOUT the Major Leagues. I don't pay attention to any of the minor leagues. I don't read reports that any of you write, nor do I look at the box scores that are posted. I had no clue what Cotts' numbers were. I don't pay attention to Joe Borchard (what's he done) , and never thought anything of Joe Crede until he got here. I also do not pay attention to Jon Rauch (hasn't helped out this team yet). The point I'm trying to make is I don't care about "prospect". I like the White Sox, and couldn't cre less if the Intimidators won their division or took last. The reason for all these guys is that maybe someday they'll help the Chicago White Sox. But until they do so, it doesn't matter. Sorry for ranting, but this is just how I feel. I respect those who do like the minor leagues, because that shows you are very passionate about this organizatioon. Whether you care about the minors or not makes no difference. But to crucify a guy over one outing or as in the example you wrote, a guy goes 0-4 with 7 LOB in his debut you'd get pissed is assinine. Baseball is a long season and players are judged by how they do over the long haul, not how they are in one game. If a guy goes 0-4 you pat him on the back and say "get them tomorrow". If a guy does what Cotts did, you say 'here's the ball, go get em". A guy wouldn't be in that position if he had no earned it. To think with such tunnel vision of getting hyped or pissed about one game or outing shows a lack of knowledge about the game of baseball. Perhaps someday you will get it. Look, are you saying you don't get pissed at the players on Monday when he couldn't get anything done with the bases loaded? I agree with the "GO get 'em". If he was my personal friend, surely I'd tell him that. I'd also tell him that if I was in the dugout, which obviously I'm not. I' not crucifying him, I said he had a bad game. Try and tell me he didn't.

You are totally right. And tell you what, Koch has sure done a hell alot more in this game than Cotts. I disagree with the title of the thread, but why is there a double standard for Neal Cotts is what I want to know.

I called him a bastard after he walked four straight. But CLee has the nickname Dumbass, and when he GIDP's lots of people call him Dumbass. What's the difference? Is it because Carlos has been here for awhile? Please inform me.

No, he's not going to turn down the chance to start in the big leagues. If they asked me, I'd do it, although I've thrown 3 ineffective innings my whole life. If I were to walk as many guys as he did, I wouldn't expect love just because it was my debut. Let's look at it from another perspective. Suppose this is a hitter making his debut. What if he's 0-4, with 7 LOB. I'd be pissed. I would hope that no one would say it's ok to K with the sacks packed with Sox because it's his first game, or if he rolled two to end the inning. It's the same thing. Based on that post, it is obvious you know little about the game of baseball. Comments like that show how some fans are completely uneducated in how the game works. I'm personally insulted and offended. For reals. What part says I don't know anything about baseball?

I did not give up on him at all. All I said was he had a very poor start. Is that not true. I said "Great. Now the bastard has walked the first FOUR men of the inning" Is that worng? I mean, damn, Carlos has the nickname of Dumbass. People generally refer to him as that, and when someone says Dumbass, it's understood that we're talking about Carlos. Why is there a double standard?

I totally agree. I want to see him be great. I'd love him to be ROTY next year. But, what I don't understand is why everyone is so upset about people getting angry over his fairly poor performance. Some people were acting like he was their brother or son last night. Now, if we can't be upset about a poor performance, than we shouldn't be happy about a good one. Just think about that. Also, I'm the biggest Frank fan there is. But I'm pissed at him when he pops out to the catcher in his first three AB's. That's just the way it is.
-
Everett with another basehit. I'm glad he's here. Frank slips while holding up at third. He's okay, thank goodness.
-
Rex Hudler (the real one) said that he has a slight hamstring injury, that's why he is not in.
-
I wasn't expecting A Rich Harden type outing. But at the same time, I wasn't expecting him to be lifted in the 3rd inning after walking SEVEN men.
-
Yes, personally I'd rather see Wright out there, because he has experience. Also, Harden hasn't seemed to have to much trouble, niether has Jimmy f***ING Gobble of KC, for God's sake. Because he faced Tampa Bay twice? Just maybe? Thank God all of you scumbags don't manage this team or any player, because their confidence would be in the s***ter before they hit the 2nd inning. Woah, what's with the personal insults? As far as me putting their confidence in the s***ter, you're dead wrong. I wouldn't say this to him. But, now, my problem with you is you can't admit he pitched very poorly tonight, jitters or no jitters. Personal insults? No one deserves to be called a bastard, even a 23 year old who's trying his f***ing best to win. Ok, I can't call a guy who walks the first FOUR men in an inning a bastard, but it's perfectly OK for you to call me a "f***ing moron?" That's not right. Man, you act like he's your brother.
-
I'm certainly not writing this guy off. I'm sure he'll be good in the future, but I'm just saying he didn't have it tonight. As far as his heat goes, it looked pretty hard. Gun said it was only 89, but it looked better than that.

I think there is another guy. He plays for this team. Oh yeah, BUEHRLE is his name.
-
HA! LOOK! Danny Wright comes out here and does a GREAT job of cleaning up the mess. That's good to see. We still have the lead. 9-1-2 coming up.

OK...and how many players in the last 20 years have been able to dominate at the age of 23?? Can ya list anymore?? I'll wait patiently Ken Griffey, Jr. A-Rod.....
-
Yeah, get him out..and bring in the uber-better Danny Wright That guy Wright is awesome!!! Hey, at least Danny Wright has seen the show. Seriously. And please quit holding his hand and rubbing his feet.
-
Albert Pujols is 23. That bastard had Salmon 0-2 and he walks him with the bases loaded. 4 in a row. He's done. Thank goodness. He just needs a bit more seasoning.
-
He's just walked the bases loaded with "The KingFish" coming up.
-
Why not? It seems like alot of you are holding his hand. He's really not even close to the strike zone, nor are the hitters needing to work him. I think that he may be good, but he's not ready yet.
-
To all those who doubted carl Everett, :fyou RBI single, 2-0 SOX
-
Good, no Eickstein. Nothing against Joe Crede, and I know he's not much worse than many others, but for some reason, he is the one guy we have on our team that I don't have full confidence in any given at bat to get a basehit. I'm not sure why, and hopefully that will change soon.
