Now that I read that, you are right it makes sense for both teams.. We have no one in the system that would entertain FLA.. Schimdt no thanks And there is not one other SP I would want that I heard about we would give up way to much to get something back. We should have signed lowe or clement in the offseason and we would not have to worry anymore. Also factor in Oswalt, is he not a FA next year as well? If I were the Yankees and had my choice I would go after Oswalt over AJ, which would help us out in signing him. IMO, Schmidt is a bad idea if this was jason from 2002, then yeah go for it.. I just think what we would have to give up would not be worth the reward.

He had one major injury 2 years ago and is finally recovered. He is a "southside" type guy, much like pauly is. He is a legit starter, and would only cost about 9-10mil to resign in the offseason, just think of the rotation going from the trading dealine till 2008. What do we get from trading for Clemens and Schimdt other than a rent a player? Clemens won't resign and JR won't pony up the money for a healthy Schimdt..if he ever gets back to form. AJ on the other hand, is a class A stud and would be a steal for 9/10 a year, plus figure the ozzie discount..might get him cheaper. Umm yeah We already have an overpaid pitcher who is injuried....and the asking price..Come on people this is not MVP 2005, this is reality. Trade for Clemens..Doesn't he have a no trade clause? besides, the Astros playing in the weak NLC, they have a legit shot at a playoff birth.. He is not going anywhere. Of course then there is the only Sp we would want, that makes perfect sense... AJ Burnett FLA But we will end up with Mark Redman.
