Jay Williams coming back to the NBA next year?
nitetrain8601 replied to Jabroni's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
He already has said that a couple of teams have given him offers. Most notably was Houston. The Bulls won't bring him back, but I think they should. I think at worst right now, he'll be Chris Duhon and he'll be cheaper since he's coming off of injury. I like Duhon and Pargo, but I think even Jay coming back will be as good as those guys. I don't think he'll be the top PG in the game like so many thought he would be, but he'll be a slightly above average PG in the league. -
The trifecta blows. They should keep the shows at 30 minutes. Eh well. They'll get rid of it once the NBA is done. Thank God. We'll soon get 1 hour BBTN shows.

This is why I think Contreras will stay with the team. He dominates bad clubs. He just couldn't beat above average offenses which is all there was in the AL East. I see him winning 15 games.
-
I think Timo stays with this team. Ozzie and KW like him and he's done nothing to warrant him being off the team. He was pretty clutch for us last year too.
-
Too early for this thread. White Sox were on top at Memorial Day and we still lost. No threads on us being on top should be posted just yet. I say at the earliest is August and that's if this team isn't sliding.

Garland may not be able to go tomorrow.

Dangit, I wanted to see Buehrle vs Santana. Sucks JG got sick. I was looking foward to see him pitchin tonight. I think it gives us a better chance to win the whole series though. Santana had a bad April ERA last year and with 1 game pitched, he has a bad April ERA now. As long as it's ensured that we win today, I'm fine. I just wish we could showcase Buehrle as the best lefthander in the AL Central and probably the 2nd best in the league. -
Sox vs. Hostess Cakes: 4/8/05 Game Thread

Yeah, Crede did hit the ball tonight. Even Hawk and DJ were making note of it and saying Crede looked at Tim Raines and he was laughing because he knows that things aren't just going his way. He was hitting the ball hard tonight, but they were going straight to the fielders. -
They won't be. He won't be replaced until Fields is ready. By then Crede should be batting .300 with 28 HR's and 101rbi's

Willie gets a hit and scores on an Everett single. So much for being dumb when it comes to benching Tad. -

I prefer Honey Buns. Anyway, my player of the game goes to none other than....Joe Crede. He's going for the cycle tonight. -
The Vikings are on the clock, again

I'm going with Erasmus. Clayton will be nothing more than what they got on their team. Marcus Robinson at best. I see Nate Burelson having better potential. -
I'm still strongly supporting Crede. He'll turn it around. CREDE's CREW 2005!!!!!!
-
I'm still part of Crede's Crew!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ozzie shoots down Ozuna to 3rd base rumor

QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) How about a nice chicago fire through wrigelyville. Yep. Anyone have a cow?? I have a couple of candles.
-
I think that Ozzie had a flashback to last year when he pulled Marte right away last year against KC, so he stuck with the guy a bit longer and it killed him.
-
I'm not going to question Shingo being left in there because I certainly didn't expect him to give up 3 HR's. I second guess using up the bullpen that dumbly though just in case Shingo doesn't get the save. Now they only had 1 guy available who pitched the previous game and they wanted him to last 3 or 4 innings. That's not smart. What was up with Widger warming up. I saw him in the bullpen. Did they say anything on tv about it??
-
All things equal, I will say, most dependable pitchers like this: Marte(He's been good more times than not) Vizcaino/Hermanson(Vizcaino is a good Marte clone when on, maybe better and Hermy can come in almost any situation) Shingo(when on he's unhittable, but I've only seen him for 1 year) Cotts(developing and it shows he's becoming better) Politte(he better go back to last years form)

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) I'm telling you.. all this stupid ass ignorant generalization s*** is really starting to piss me off. How many games do you go to...? I live in Plainfield.. it's 60 effing miles home. 50+ times a year we make that drive. You are preaching to the effing choir here.. go b**** at the ones that do make excuses. Clearly.. they don't post here. I'm going to 60 something. I went to Monday's and sadly I was apart of today's. Whoever asked the attendance, it was 10,000, maybe a little more. That's home game's at least. Me and my friends are also taking road trips to Comerica, Kauffman and the Bagdome. Anyway, that game was, less than stellar.
-
Oh yeah, anyone email this to Mariotti??? I swear, someone needs to completely call out this jagbag. The Sox could have the best 10 year run for any team winning the WS in all 10 years and he'll still have 5 bad things to say everyday. Hell, why isn't he talking about the Cubs being 1-2? By the way he writes his column, it makes it seem like we've lost both games by a total of 14 runs.
-
So what the hell are the Braves paying for??? They have Hudson, Chipper, Smoltz and Jones. The rest of the guys from what I know, dont make much or at least don't deserve to.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 09:13 AM) Alright i haven't read the whole thread, so maybe it's in there...but why are these games day games this week (besides opening day)? Seems logical to think that no one will show up, everyone's at work or school. So i wasn't surprised the attendance yesterday was not very high (even though the park literally looked empty when they first showed the stands). If it was a night game, the numbers probably would increase, right? There's probably something obvious i'm missing here, so feel free to point it out. Wrong. Most Sox fans will say, we have to go to work tommorow. Hell, I see a bunch of high schoolers go to the night games more than the adults and they're broke. No matter what, it seems like there is always an excuse not to go. Games don't end at 12 at the cell for the most part. Most of our games end at 10. Even that is enough time for you to get home and get to sleep. And I don't want anyone telling me that they live in the far north suburbs or far south suburbs or any suburbs because I know tons and I mean tons of Cubs fans that live in Kankakee, Naperville, Harvey, and Plainfield and seem to make it out to Wrigley while getting home in time to get some sleep and go to work or school the next day. I could maybe understand a day game at 1, but not a game that starts at 7/7:30. It's sad that most White Sox fans just find excuses not to go. Hell Cub fans find ways to get to our games on half price nights.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I have no problem if they move the line back some, but I don't think it should go as far as the NBA distance. I just don't think it NEEDS to be done. Wouldn't hurt, but I don't see it as a major issue. I love the game as it is. I say 2 feet in from the NBA 3.
