Must not like pitching to T Long. Eh, whatever works.

Aaron Guiel has always owned us.

QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) thank you much As a Skins fan, you're not welcome. Assuming of course that you are a Bears fan from your sig. If not, my post makes no sense.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) I don't care how lucky we get, a win is a win. I simply don't think Ozzie gives our team the GREATEST chance to succeed a lot of the time with his pitching moves. A manager can hit a ball or make a pitch...but he can put the best personnel on the field at the appropriate times on a consistent basis. Jphat...would you still want Duque starting an inning the rest of the season when his pitch total is around 90? Absolutely. He'd start in that situation everytime, except maybe a clinching game of a playoff series where the bullpen is available. No reason to try and bring in the bullpen with a 4 run lead in theat situation against KC when you have a 9.5 lead on sept. 5. Save your bullpen if Duque can go another 1 or 1 1/2 innings. If eh gives it up, you give it to your bullpen which has been lights out the whole year and hope they don't hit people and give up bombs with a 2 or 3 run lead. Really it just gives us heartache.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) it's happened countless times on the boards and more than a few times between friends while watching the game. ozzie is terrible at managing pitchers, that's a fact. Then we must be the luckiest team in the histroy of the league to win as many close games as we have this season.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Let me guess the half you are on is the part that means something. What I think means absolutely nothing. What the manager with the best record in the AL with a TON of close games where he has had to maneuver pitching and bullpen means 10x more than what anyone here thinks.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) If Sweeney comes to the plate this inning, can we just walk him? Uh. We only went 4 innings without a run.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Uh. Yes. Its not worth getting into it, because I can already tell there will be no budge in you, but when half the board is calling for Duque to be out at a certain time(the 6th) and Oz leaves him in, and Duke then proceeded to put KC back in the game, OZ made a mistake. We have been watching all season him do the same thing. Get over it, Ozzie is not a good in game manager. He himself might tell you that. Then everyone in baseball is a bad manager, because there is not a manager in baseball that takes Duque out giving up 1 run through 6 innings with a 9 1/2 game lead on September 6. There just isn't. And if you really believe there is, there is no reason to continue. WHat half the board thinks means absolutely nothing.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Relax, Relax. We got 5 outs to get against KC, and this will be a learning experience( God I hope) for Oz. Uh. No. Ozzie does things the way he wants to do things. Not the way a bunch of fans on a message board thinks he should do things. It has worked pretty well for him so far. He's done nothing wrong tonight. Not his fault Marte gave up a bomb.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) It's not the panic, it's the fact that Ozzie continues to make the same mistake with Duque in his starts. When everyone but the manager thinks the pitcher should be pulled, it makes you scratch your head. I can't think of anyone in the game of baseball who would take Duque out after 6 innings of 1 run ball.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) All I know is this is 4 straight starts where Duque has allowed a run in his last inning. Chances are thats true of most pitchers. Thats the reason they get taken out. Especially if they have only given up 1 run in the previous 6 innings.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) I knew what you meant. It's just hard to get mad at Cotts for hitting ONE batter. Hell, at the beginning of this year, I would have been happy if Cotts went 1/3- while allowing 2 runners. I was talking to the other guy. I'm not mad at Ozzie or Duque. Duque had a QS. He had given up 1 run in 6 innings. You let him stay out there. I get pissed at free passes. Especially in front of Sweeney. That's why i was much more pissed at Cotts. I don't care what he's done this year. He's been great in his situations. But i'm talkin about tonight.
-
QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) he's earned it with his sub 2 era the ENTIRE SEASON but wait, let's judge someone on one pitch. nice WTF. I Was saying make the other team earn it. Don't give them free passes in that situation.
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) Yeah, lets piss on Cotts and his 1.84 era. If Ozzie used him at all lately he would realize he is one of the most dominant pitchers we have on the staff. But hey, lets use him like a moron as a situational lefty. Unbelievable. Make people earn it. Don't hit people with a 2 run lead with Sweeney coming up soon.
-
Good job Pablo and Viz! Terrible job Cotts
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) And now we have ourselves a close ball game. I really hope I'm not the only one livid right now. Neal coulda come in and done that. Duque only gave up 1 run. Nothing wrong with staying out for those two batters.
-
Dammit Neal cmon. WTF are you doing.
-
Good peg

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) The thing is, as good as Ozuna has been hitting, he's not a real run producer. He's perfect for the 9th spot in the lineup. There's not a doubt in my mind that our offense is better with Ozuna at 3rd base than Crede. Yah. But he's good with the bat. Can go the other way. He's no where near Iguchi, but better than the rest at that spot
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) We can argue for years, but Iguchi's not moving from the 2 spot this season. Nor should he. We have no one that could fill that roll cept for maybe pablo.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) That's not the key question...the key question remains the Ordonez/Lee question...how much else do we lose by committing $11-12 million to Konerko? We also must consider who can replace him for less money if thats the way we go. THe 1b crop is small and we'd lose a lot production if he left.
-
QUOTE(BFirebird @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) Can't get the game down here at school.....has duque had decent control today? on and off.
-
Good job Duque. Didn't KC score 17 the other day?
-
Great inning Duque. REal quick after we scored.
