  1. 1.) I never said that Marte was a piece of s***. I said he was shaky this season. 2.) I never said that Walker was a huge pickup or an excellent investment. It was a decent risk/reward pickup, nothing spectacular. 3.) I never said that Cotts should be in Single A keeping the bullpen catcher warmed up. I just don't think he's all that great. He probably needs a season in Charlotte to work on his control.
  2. I never inferred that. And qwerty, would you still rather have Joel Pineiro over Freddy Garcia? :rolly
  3. If you need to resort to personal attacks, why bother involving yourself in this debate?
  4. What does Marte's numbers from last season have to do with his numbers this season? You asked me what I thought of Marte's pitching THIS season. He has been shaky THIS season. I don't even need to look at his stats to tell that. Thankfully, he hasn't given up many runs.
  5. A leadoff walk is one of the worst kinds of walks to issue because the offense then has 3 outs to knock that runner in.
  6. I'm not arguing at all. I am disagreeing with and refuting other people's statements.
  7. Agreed, right now he's a 2 pitch pitcher with very little control.
  8. He has been shaky as hell this season. I think you could admit that.
  9. Cotts has a no-control, average fastball and a good, no-control changeup.
  10. Not giving up homers is great but issuing leadoff walks is still bad.
  11. If Walker pitches to his past potential and Cotts pitches to his current potential, Walker is the better reliever. The stats back my statement.
  12. Cotts was awful in 2003 (albeit, in very limited IP) and bad in 2004 (in a full season of IP). Why does everyone here feel the need to defend every single one of our players. Do you guys really think that every player on our roster is good? $75 million payroll teams don't have a great player at every position. Almost every team has its mediocre players.
  13. Instead we should judge by Cotts' 9.0 IP in the season over almost 100 innings of data? Good lord...
  14. My point was that I made that edit before I ever saw your post. But here's the thing I love. You guys say that Cotts is better than Walker. I show you tangible stats that show Walker is better than Cotts but it's me who is wrong? Amazing. You guys could be right that Cotts is better if Walker's past injury prevents him from reaching his past peripherals though.
  15. By the way, 87.2 to 95.0 IP is about a season and a half for the average lefty reliever.
  16. Yes, I'd rather judge a pitcher on his more relevant MLB stats. Otherwise, I could argue that Scott Ruffcorn is a better pitcher than both Neal Cotts AND Kevin Walker.
  17. You can't refute my statement so you bring up an unrelated topic? Lame.
  18. But Walker has a better K rate and ERA than Cotts in the MAJORS. Isn't that whats counts/matters more?
  19. What's your point? Cotts shouldn't have even been pitching in the majors last season. He was brutal.
  20. It's funny that you bash Kevin Walker yet defend Neal Cotts. Have you taken a look at their respective career peripherals in the majors? Neal Cotts (career stats) 87.2 IP 5.75 ERA .245 BAA .356 OBP .427 SLG .782 OPS 7.91 K/9 1.43 K/BB Kevin Walker (career stats) 95.0 IP 4.45 ERA .213 BAA .334 OBP .343 SLG .673 OPS 8.53 K/9 1.55 K/BB Interesting, huh? In a very close number of innings pitched in the majors to date, Kevin Walker has better peripherals than Neal Cotts in almost every single stat. Yet you bash Walker and defend Cotts? :headshake
  21. It's nice that Wells gave Buehrle some props but he's still a fat, drunken, hypocritical slob.
