  1. I don’t know, prior to last year they were having success patching together rotations.
  2. Eh I feel like correas only going to get worse from here defensively. But Buxton kinda makes it all work.
  3. Really incredible how the Sox faced head on what it would take to compete with the big boys and then signed the same shit, ignored a free draft pick, and played chicken and lost with Kimbrel. Inspiring stuff!
  4. I’m not sure they ever stopped for flaherty, sadly.
  5. I mean let's be clear too what we are talking about. If I'm building a fantasy team would I target conforto first if he's costing $20M and I have a $200M budget? No, he's not well rounded enough as a defender and seems like a brick as a person. But the sox have a contending team that also has clear vulnerabilities, we have few prospects to trade, and the seasons are important now...then what I want is for them to spend what they do have in money on the guy that's clearly the best fit. We made our perfect world choices in suffering for years to have long-term control over Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn, Giolito and Cease. Now we are making the imperfect world choices because we need to maximize that window now. (it would be easier if we drafted better than awful).
  6. Oh shit did the new CBA eliminate the DH for all leagues?
  7. Your batting average arguments however, these are impeccable.
  8. Are we sure John Dorsey isn't back in charge of Cleveland?
  9. Man, either Kirk Cousins and DeShaun Watson change the game forever for QBs and guaranteed cash. Or they permanently screw over everyone forever. I am leaning toward the latter.
  10. I may have done the chark deal but I wouldn't have paid $20mil for cooper.
  11. Anyway my blind example was noted platoon player Michael Brantley. He did not make 20 mill a year, but he also had an extensive injury history and plays a worse outfield.
  12. Yes he had a conspicuously terrible June-July that happened to coincide with a hamstring injury where he hit negative-6 wRC+ vs LHP. surrounding that, he was at 93 wRC+ in March-May and after that he was at 124 wRC+ vs LHP So that's why larger sample sizes help. But if you'd rather Joc Pederson because he's a complete player that will help us win the championship and you can use those cost savings toward more bullpen pitchers, go right ahead.
  13. So here's what an actual platoon bat looks like are when discussing real players Joc Pederson, famous Platoon Bat (all career numbers) Vs. RHP - 123 wRC+ Vs. LHP - 68 wRC+ (25% worse than Conforto's weakside platoon) Theres a guy that a lot wanted here during the playoffs that had a similar career line. Nobody called him a platoon bat. Vs. RHP - 130 wRC+ Vs. LHP - 91 wRC+ (Conforto is 136/94)
  14. 94 wRC+ vs lefties is abysmal huh. I was hoping we can scrape a 94 wRC+ total out of our 2b.
  15. They should pre-emptively suture all of his muscles to his bones
  16. I mean, I also am that. I still am excited that it all works out for a period and he at the very least is a guy that always plays vs. Lefties. He's so damn talented as an athlete, and come so far, I just hope he gets a little bit of runway in his career.
  17. Buddy, we haven't even broken the glass to pull out our Jake Burger
  18. Isn't that our situation though? Realistically Leury can slide over to CF, and we have our big boys role playing as corner outfielders as well.
  19. Obviously Escobar. I ...just don't get how they deked themselves this badly here.
  20. Engel Engel Engel, you beautiful, fragile adonis.
  21. And I don't like giving credit to him but Josh McDaniels should be a good coach to lean into his versatile set of skills. My bigger concern for raiders is it's football and players just start breaking down.
  22. If we tell the A's fans he's backing up Leury Garcia they'll understand.
  23. Just catching up but wanted to say that I like Derek Carr and I think it's cool they are going for it and all, but that just seems like a very very bad idea. There is no questioning the talent, but to give up that much and then make them the highest paid receiver for their second contract? Eek. Packers have a lot of picks now in a good WR draft and a QB who can make it work regardless. You do that move 10/10. I actually had no idea how bad the record was for receivers in free agency. Bears with Allen Robinson was like one of the best FA contracts in the last 10 yrs. This is why you can't live with so few picks because you have to have enough to swing at 3rd-5th round receivers every year, but can't when you need them to fill holes like the bears.
  24. He was a complete piece of shit to Renee and i'm not convinced it wasn't workplace harassment to begin with. You need to rethink your heros.
  25. Yes. I would definitely YOLO comp picks to still get Armstead, but I also recognize that could be brutal if he only plays 50% of his games each year. But every single guy that you'd feel ok committing long-term to got Jagzd or was franchised. Honestly if we can all swallow our desire to enjoy the humans that play for the bears I think getting Beasley would be a really smart move. (edit: since he's cut he won't affect comp scores)
