the overbay deal should be in the works
I'd take Pods over Carlos any day of the week right now. It's much, much harder to find a good leadoff hitter then a good middle of the order hitter. Carlos has hit more homers has all the obvious better power numbers but Scotty has a better ba, obp and more stolen bases. Great trade for both teams, I don't care what people thought at the time.

the overbay deal should be in the works
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Why do people have to try and be dicks? The Brewers won the Lee trade. Sorry but Duque, AJ, Iguchi, were not part of the trade. The Brewers did not give them to us, and while Lee's contract being gone did allow us to sign them, it did not mean that we could not have tried for a better prospect than Hinton. ::shrugs:: The only way you can even argue the White Sox are even is adding in our additional signings, and the amount we saved. As for Overbay, I wish we could of worked him into the Lee deal to begin with. And thanks for the insightful posts coming from other teams, I actually like hearing what other teams have to say more than what other Sox fans have to say. SB There's no way the Brewers won the Lee trade. That trade is about as equal as you'll see a trade. Saving money was part of the trade and even if you just look at it as Pods and Viz for Clee we still came out great as did they.

Trade Cliff Politte?????????
QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) Wouldn't it make sense if Kenny trades Politte & McCarthy for Burnett, that we'll have one too many SP's we can trade for bullpen help? No, because Cliff's been the best setup man in baseball, you don't trade him, period.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) To me, that's communicating to the guys coming up what to expect. Yet, the ump was giving him the evil eye as he was doing it. Carl's always verbal with his hands after he strikes out or just gets out, it's just what he does. Umps are to damn sensitive, it's ridiculous.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Ozzie going to talk to the home plate ump, and now Carl comes back from the dugout to join in. Carl is pissed and might get run. Joey is pushing Carl back to the dugout. Wow. Carl is HOT. He was thrown out before he came back out. I have no clue why the hell he got thrown out.

Trade Cliff Politte?????????
QUOTE(ptatc @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) The only way I put Politte in the deal is if we get Mota. Mota is a closer (protection for Hermanson +a closer for next year), Politte while good is pitching over his head and not a closer. Mota's not having that good of a year. Cliff's been the best setup man in baseball this year, trading Cliff would just be dumb imo.

Who would be the best?
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Why do you say that??? Because it's obvious. When Paul was really, really scuffling he was still in the number 4 slot. He's not going to be moved from that spot in the order.

Who would be the best?
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) But he shouldnt be the cleanup hitter. He is brutal with RISP and 2 outs. I am tired of his pop ups and GIDP. Dye has been tearing the cover off the ball and he deserves to be the cleanup hitter IMHO. I'm not disagreeing but Pauly's going to be our cleanup hitter no matter what so it's a moot point.

Who would be the best?
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) I disagree strongly. Crede is abso-f***ing-lutely solid at 3B. His defense is top notch and his offense has been coming around. I have really warmed up to Crede and I hope he has a monster 2nd half. Imagine this: Pods Gooch Overbay Dye PK Rowand AJ Crede Uribe Haven't you realized by now Pauly's going to be the teams cleanup hitter all year. EDIT: To answer the question I'd absolutely love Huff or Overbay.
