GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Tell that to our manager. You said you'd give the pitcher credit if you thought he deserved it. Lima has been absolutely awesome tonight, how about giving the pitcher some credit? -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) MB should be picking these guys off. What the hell. Get your good move on MB!!!! The Royals are just guessing right, that's really the only way you'll steal off Mark. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) He looked awful there. That was... bad. Really bad. Yes it was, I swear he has to have that play running through his head, he seems to back it down a lot now, that play from yesterday and today seemed like he was very cautious. -

Anyone else think Willie has last years collision go through his head everytime there's a little pop up like that? -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) I hate Mike Sweeney. He might be a nice guy and all, but I f***ing hate him. There aren't many hitters in baseball I respect as much as Mike Sweeney but goddamn I hate that guy when we play them. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) If that scout for the Giants is here looking at him, among others, I would rather he came yesterday. He was there yesterday. -
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) They just showed the Giants top scout, Ted Uehlander, sitting there in the front row of the Sox KC game. Harrelson mentioned he talked to him during the rain delay and specifically mentioned the Giants are a team rumored to be in discussions with the White Sox (duh). But it is a bit unusual for Harrelson to comment specifically on a rumor by naming a particular team. He also said Uehlander has been watching the Sox minor leaguers too. Can you post that in the game thread. Someone asked me to give a description of what Hawk said and my description sucked.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) I thought PK owned Lima? (Yes, I know the stats. Don't bring them up, I'm just pointing out that he's looked bad twice today against Lima.) Lima's a different pitcher today. -

They showed that Giants scout whatever his name is and Hawk talked about him a bit. Then talking about how's he's been around scouting the sox and some of the minor league teams. He was saying that guy was there just in case "that rumor" would gain steam. I don't know, just seemed odd. EDIT: Sorry about not knowing the guys name, slipped my mind. -

Has Hawk ever talked about trade rumors in the booth before?? That seemed kind of odd. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:14 PM) Just joking around, I thought it seemed clear. 1-0 on a triple by PABLO OZUNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry milkman. It just seems like as of late Willie gets ripped on no matter what he does. I've expressed my displeasure with Willie but some times there's just nothing you can do. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Yah, I'm really worried about perfect English on a message board. Way to stick up for your boy. Willie absolutely sucks. Does that pass your grammar test? When you make your posts unreadable then it's a problem. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Stupid Willie gets a stupid K. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) That was vintage Willie from last season. Work the count well, and then take the 3-2 pitch that's a clear strike. He got aced guys, you're going to get many major league hitters staring at that pitch. -

QUOTE(Pasqua's Mailman @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Lay-off the change-up and you will have base runners... Every single pitch he's throwing is just diving straight down, he's got some nasty movement right now. Easier said then done to layoff those pitches. -

Lima's got a s***load of movement on his pitches so far, our guys have to be patient and get some counts and make him get the ball up. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) That's what I'm saying. The last time he had a slump, it lasted well over a week, I think. It wouldn't surprise me if he had another slump similar to that. LOL, so he had 1, one week slump and he's an inconsistant base stealer?? I don't think so. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) f***, Pods running the bases is like every Crede, PK, and Uribe hitting. He is a streaky f***ing base stealer. Not really, he's had like 2 stolen base slumps and has been great besides that. -
Sorry to hear that boz. I lost a cat a few years back, it was very hard for me. Like SnB said you get attatched to them.

Make a GOOD deal, Kenny, or don't make one at all
Rowand44 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) I'd hate to see Baez. I don't think he has the temperment to close under real pressure. Blown saves are the worst in a relief pitcher. Remember Billy Koch? If Baez had blown 6 saves for us this year, he'd be the 6th guy in the pen. I don't care what his "stuff" is. Baez wouldn't have 6 blown saves for us cause he wouldn't be closing. -

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) So you think blown saves by your closer are okay?? Stay away from Danys Baez. I used to love it when he came into the ballgame against us. No, but he's a good pitcher. I'm not sure how many inherited runners he's let score but I assume he hasn't had a ton of chances with them since he's their closer, he's got a very good era and is a HUGE upgrade over Viz. If you don't think this is true well I don't know what to tell you then. -
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) what did he say abotu anyone that wasn't true or is this an excuse to have a Steve Philips roast? Predictable. I didn't read the article so I don't have any clue. I just find it hilarious that a guy who was an awful gm is allowed to break down deals on espn.
