QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) No one is whining. I think some people just recognize that our offense isn't hitting as well as they should be and think it is a valid concern... Sortable Team Stats: .260 team AVG (ranked 24th in MLB) .323 team OBP (ranked 26th in MLB) *waits for the obligatory, "look at our record!" response* Everytime you show these stats how come you leave out runs scored????????

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) And many people also just assume it is always great pitching instead of a bad approach by our lineup. It goes both ways, dude. It's not even close, if the offense has a bad game it's always on the offense, ALWAYS. Some people think that just cause is a pitcher isn't great that they can't throw a good game. Perfect example:Tuesday, Robertson was great, he was changing speeds and locating his pitches beautifully on the corners but of course it was just our offense getting shutdown by a mediocre pitcher.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:30 AM) I know Crede said he was just trying for a base hit when he went deep last night. I know around here when the offense gets shut down it's always there fault, however good pitching can shut down an offense some time but around here at times you think that's not possible.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) Stone for Brantley sounds like a winner to me. Brantley's a doof. Anyways nothing wrong with what Reynolds did, the only starter you can argue for the sox is really Mark and him and Halladay are very close. That's a tossup imo.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:29 AM) I was thinking more in terms of the line of Rogo or Gload filling in at 1B for a year or two. My feelings as well. I especially think Ross deserves a shot, he can hit, period.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) No,were not. Don't even try Rowand, he is a waste of energy. Good call Tony. Anyways, GO SOX!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) Getting no hit by average pitchers for inning after inning is pretty frustrating. If it happens tonight, it won't be that bad because Harden is a stud. You've got to be kidding me, we're still on this?????

Still gotta have faith Jabroni, everytime someone has doubted this team they rise to the occasion. Like I said earlier this place scares the s*** out of me but I just have so much confidence in this team and I'll take my chances.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) Warrick has Gerald Wallace written all over him. Amazing athlete. But what else can he do? He would be perfect for a run and gun team. But a half-court team like the Grizzlies? Ya, maybe but everything Jerry West touches turns to gold.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) There 53-24, why anyone ever get the feeling there going to lose?? Thank you. No, Jabroni with this team I don't think they'll lose many series and they haven't, they're the best team in baseball why would anyone predict them to lose?? Obviously this s*** hole of a place is the exception because weird, weird things happen there for us but I think we can finally win a series there or atleast I hope.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 07:57 AM) Yep, all 3 should be in. But will they? Who knows? A.L. ERA Leaders: 1. Roy Halladay (2.40) 2. Mark Buehrle (2.42) 3. Kenny Rogers (2.46) 4. Bartolo Colon (3.02) 5. Jarrod Washburn (3.21) 6. Jon Garland (3.25) 7. Freddy Garcia (3.29) 8. Matt Clement (3.33) 8. Chris Young (3.33) 10. Jason Johnson (3.39) Damn, imagine if Clement would have signed here. Our rotation would be sicker than it already is. Not necessarily, if Clement was signed there's a good chance AJ wouldn't have been. I think Clement is a very solid pitcher but I think he'll be a hit a bit more in the 2nd half of this season, jmo.

*shudders* I hate this freakin place but I do think we will win this series, just got a feeling. All I know is that last series had the weirdest back to back games I've probably ever seen with the last 2 games of that series.

The Gigantic all encompassing TRADE THREAD
Rowand44 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A month or two ago I would have loved Wagner, however with Shingo imo back we really don't need a bullpen arm. I'd rather not trade for a guy like Wagner and go for a starting pitcher ala Schmidt or Burnett a top of the rotation guy in other words. Obviously if the sox really want schmidt that bad then our scouts were impressed with what they saw and think he can return back to his previous form and I think I'd be inclined to trust them. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) 2005 Runs scored Sox = 370 Det = 334 Ya. I see your point. Wite got owned.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Why would Oakland want Joe Crede AND Alex Cintron when they already have Bobby Crosby, Marcus Scutaro, Mark Ellis and Keith Ginter already? Because........ -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) Offensively? Dunn worse than Tejada? You're kidding, right? Going off of career averages, you lose almost .100 OPS % points with Tejada, about .050 OBP % points, and .040 SLG% points. Overall player, sure, you take Tejada 'cause he's a stud on defense. But offensively, not a chance. Vlad, yeah. He's up there. I was going off the top of my head, don't know why I forgot about him. Even so, what does AVG mean, again? A guy isn't great because he doesn't have a good batting average? Like I said this is just a difference of opinion but Tejada is an rbi machine he's a .300 hitter and overall as a hitter I would rather have Tejada. Dunn I like because he's a lefty power hitter but I know for damn sure he'd drive me nuts cause he is an all or nothing hitter. Getting on base or not you got to be able to hit your way on base at times but that's jmo. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) Name some guys better than him offensively... Pujols, Bonds, Manny, Ortiz. And then there's a bunch of guys who are right around where he's at, like Helton. What does BA mean? Let's see, Dunn gets on-base at a real good rate, and when he hits the ball, he homers or doubles. I can give a damn what his BA is when he has a 150+ OPS+... Vlad, Tejada are for sure ahead of him imo. There are a lot of other guys I'd rather have then Dunn, I personally just think you have to hit higher then .245 to be considered a top offensive player even with his obp. But hell when do we ever agree anyways. Agree to disagree -
QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) If Rogers won't play in the AS Game, I bet Francona will take Clement or Chris Young instead of Freddy. Clement's a lock already.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) i know i'm getting off topic, but with the all-star GAME allegedly meaning something these days, every team shouldn't get an all-star Continuing that thought, if it does mean something the fans shouldn't vote either, you can't have it both ways. You can't have some idiot fans who don't know what the hell they're doing potentially effecting the world series.

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) I'm happy as hell that Shingo is Shingo again. We all but forgot about Mr. Zero. Keep throwing strikes. That was his only problem as I've said in the past. If Japanese batters didn't figure him out all those years I don't see why MLB hitters would. During the rain delay today I saw highlights from last year and Willie Harris scored a winning run and there was the usual mob scene around the hitter. I saw Willie on the edge of the group and Shingo comes up behind him and starts punching him in both ass cheeks. Left, right ,left ,right ,left, right. Willie turns around and puts up his dukes as Shingo runs away. Cracked me up. Did anyone else happen to see that or remember it ? For the record he was punching THE Timo Perez not Willie.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) Yes we could have had him, but signed Uribe for 3 years instead. I bet KW is rethinking that decision now that Uribe's hitting has returned to pitiful form. I'm not suggesting this trade is a slam dunk, but it does give us a more balanced offensive team because it gives us a SS who can hit righties (Vizquel) while keeping one who can hit lefties (Ozuna). Together they will make a lot fewer outs than Uribe/Ozuna. The OBP differential for right handed pitchers between Vizquel and Uribe is .166. That's like having Frank Thomas's OBP instead of Joe Crede's. I bet you Kenny hasn't thought twice about that deal. -

I'd say Buehrle's been are best player in terms of numbers but AJ's been this teams mvp.
