  1. I said yesterday that I've been very impressed the way Ozzie has handled the whole Carl and Frank situation, I've ragged on ozzie a bit this year for some of his moves but I think he's handled this situation tremendously. Watch aaron take off on this pitch.
  2. Anyone notice pauly has opened his stance a bit the past few games, maybe so he can see the breaking ball from the righties a bit better??
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) Maybe Dewon can find a role in the pen? I hope so, got a great arm but has just been a complete bust so far.
  4. I'd love to see Aaron take off here as well. Keep putting pressure on Harden and Kendall.
  5. That ball was hit pretty well ends up in an error. Productive first inning so far.
  6. Just an fyi, the twins had 1st and 3rd with 1 out and brazelton rolled up a dp.
  7. Gooch mashes it to swisher, scotty over to 3rd, 1 out. That a boy Tadahito.
  8. What a f***in fantastic ab by scotty there.
  9. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) 3 IP 0 H 0 R 0 ER 1 BB 6 SO That'll work.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) You adapt, i have. You're a terrible poster, period.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Basden was the conference usa player of the year. First league player to earn back-to-back defensive player of the year honors since former cincinnati standout kenyon martin. Led his team in rebounding with 8.4 rebs per game. Yet he goes undrafted beause 17-18 year old europeans are 7 feet plus and they have great ''potential''. Ridiculous. Basden's a player, period.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) Anyone but Jose...I believe John and Mark can work around people getting on base, but Jose walks enough people as it is. Who's John
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) is it jesus? it's jesus isn't it. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) crede's crew can kick everyone's ass. they're so high on PCP, they could take on jesus. Somebody loves Jeebus.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) too close? Halladay has 19 K's more so unless Buehrle has a career K game that wont be close especially if Halladay has another start. Also Halladay has 5 complete games compared to Buehrle's 2. Also while their era is close 2.40 to 2.42 Halladay faces the Yankees, Orioles, and Boston offenses compared to Mark facing the Twins, Indians, and Detroit ones which none are as good offensively as the yanks, orioles, or boston. It's unfair to compare the offenses they face and not throw out the fact that Buehrle pitches at the cell.
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) Is Jason Schmidt in his current form going to be an upgrade over Jose Contreras in a playoff series? DBAHO, that's where our scouts come into play. They saw him pitch his last start if they think his stuff is there and they believe he's going to revert back to previous years form then obviously he is an upgrade over Contreras. I personally would love Jason Schmidt I think you give him a few more starts and you'll see him dominating again but that's jmo.
  16. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) By the way, the 2001 Mariners keep coming up, and I don't really think that's a good comparison. They were playing roughly as well as we were, but their team was built much differently. Their starting staff (at least if I remember it right) was Garcia, Moyer, Piniero, and Halama. Their offense, on the other hand, was fairly potent, with Ichiro at the top and Boone and Martinez hitting well in the middle. This team is not built the same way as ours. I don't see how you could argue that their rotation was in good shape for the playoffs. Our rotation is definitely more potent than theirs, making us better built for success in the playoffs. Ding, ding, ding. Here's the thing with the Mariners that year, they had a great offense and a great bullpen. Most times when teams dominate the regular season because of a dominate offense they're going to be in some trouble come playoff time. This current sox team already has a fantastic chance to win the whole damn thing because of the 3 pitchers at the top of the rotation. This team is made for the playoffs imo and unless you can get a stud to play 3b or a stud starting pitcher there is just no reason to make a trade just for the sake of making a trade.
  17. As of this moment right now Halladay has a slight advantage but Buehrle does have a start before the selection show, I'm not sure if Halladay does or not but those stats are so close one start either way can flip who should start. I think YAS said it in a different thread that it would be better if Mark doesn't start for the reason that the starter will throw more innings then anyone else and I agree with that completely.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) I expect the D-Backs to pick up some of these suddenly available relievers. Me or you could find a spot in the dbacks bullpen, so yeah I definitely agree with you.
  19. QUOTE(Tadahito Iguchi @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Not sure who else is in it, I think Tejada and Jones but that's all I know, just saw a commercial. OK..........?????
  20. VA, I'm not trashing Vizquel, I actually respect Omar a ton, I'm a pretty big fan of the way he plays the game. However Juan is a 25 year old shortstop who has more pop in his bat then Omar and at this point has more range then Vizquel and a much better arm. To answer your question unless a Chavez is available or a player of that capability I leave the offense alone. Crede and Juan who might not be hitting the cover off the ball have been a huge, huge part of this teams success because they suck everything hit to them and make some outstanding plays.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) Thats Crazy Talk, our guys are hitting the ball to all fields and using defensive swings on 2 strikes. Stats dont tell the story What about 9th in baseball in runs scored??? You guys make this offense out to suck when in all honesty some of you guys are just spoiled with this team, they're so good and you just expect the hitting to be perfect, good pitching will shut down good hitting any day of the week and it happens with every team not just us. As I said in the game thread yesterday for the last few games the sox offense has been slumping but everytime they've had a little slump they've broke out of it so quickly. The offense is fine, it's not the best in baseball but they get every clutch hit and they score when the have to, period.
  22. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) So, nobody wants to discuss this ^ at all? Seems like a better topic than arguing back and forth about offense that will just end like all the other arguments have ended...with nobody swaying the other side. Has anyone mentioned we have more wins this year then the dbacks had all of last season.
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Do you guys just want to bank on being clutch in the playoffs against ace-quality pitchers? I think Kenny will make a deal for another stick. Why not?? They've done it all year, it's not going to magically go away.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) THE single most important stat in this area. Exactly, who cares how they're scoring runs, I could careless if it's statistically pretty just score some runs and contrary to what some people believe they've been scoring enough runs and consistantly scoring some runs.
