QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) He gave us a quality start and thats about all you can ask of a pitcher. Nice to see him nail down win number 13 so early on in the season. He showed me something tonight. You know last years Jon would have completely melted down in that 6th inning, he's a completely different pitcher. Congrats on 13 Jon

Playing the hottest team in baseball at a park we usually find ways to lose in, nobody better to throw out there then Mark(duh).

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) You just don't want me in cuz I dominated the last one It wasn't fair you had Willie Bloomquist.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) The "every team has a rep" rule, though it causes some undeserving players to make it, does do something positive for baseball. It helps to keep, or make, the kids as fans. I know when I was a kid, it was important to me who was in the game for the White Sox. When I'd attend a game after the break, even though the team might have sucked, I knew I'd get to see our all-star CF, Chet Lemon ... or whoever. Building and maintaining a young fan base is crucial to baseball, and this does help develope that. YAS, that's great, the problem is if you're going to do that you can't have the game mean something. It can't be meaningful and be an exhibition at the same time. This year for me I'm going to have a big interest in the game because home field in the world series can be a difference maker, do you want to see Emil Brown out there as a deciding factor in something like that??? I don't know maybe it's just me but I just don't think you can have it both ways.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Crede has been having a pretty decent season actually for all the hate he gets, hate included from me, well not real hate just wanting of a replacement. his HR numbers and RBI total are good for a #8 hitter. I said it before I'll say it again he has to be the third baseman unless an absolute stud is available. He is so damn awesome defensviely and like you said his power numbers are perfectly fine.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) How could he do that if he doesnt believe in gay people No, no, no. You've got it all mixed up he doesn't believe in dinasours, he just believes homosexuality is wrong.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) I was talking to my best friend today, Cubs fan. He's so f***ing furious, rightfully. that Dusty continues to hit two of the s***test OBP men in the leauge above DLee. We were discussing who could hit above him. I suggested, Hairston leading off playing everday, Walker hitting 2. Now there's some RBI's for Lee. I know people probably don't like talking about the Cubs. But... Any thoughts? My thoughts exactly, Hairston should be starting in center and leading off and Walker should be hitting 2nd, there's no doubt. However for some reason the Cubs are in love with Corey Patterson, for what reason I have no clue.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) One question... How is the financial structure of the league going to be setup? Basically, are you going to set it up that each team gets the same amount to spend and that just like fan support brings in money, or are you going to set it up as the current MLB is where teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and Angels can just outspend everybody? That decision would mean a lot to me. I have a few teams in mind that I'd like, but that question above is something that I would need answered. Who said you're in????

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) Thread has been cleaned quickly. Really nice win though. Garland was smooth as silk and Crede came up with some big hits. Heck, Willie had a key play in the game (the single and steal to get into scoring position) and Timo ripped a nice insurance double. Garland was fantastic, I just love watching him pitch this year. That game was an overall great effort and Crede was obviously awesome, he really does make tough hops seem routine.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) What did Everett say about Gammons? If it was anything about being an old, red-sox-loving bastard that is ignorant in the sport of baseball, then he was right. He was making a crack about Gammons being gay.

Kenny Rogers sends cameraman to the hospital

I'm fine with the suspension here's what perplexes me if Rogers gets chosen to the allstar game he can pitch -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Wow, I didn't realize just how bad of a month Ryan Sweeney was having. .263 SLG%? .271 OBP? :puke Over the course of this half season, my excitment towards prospects have shifted from Ryan Sweeney and Josh Fields to Chris Young and Casey Rogowski. I'm starting to get really excited about Rogo. I'm excited about Rogo just for the fact I really believe him and Ross can do a fantastic job holding down first without pauly here next year or atleast I hope pauly is gone after this season.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Somebody please split this Contreras stuff outta here. It's the whole thread and has no relevance to trades. It's interesting to see the Yanks dealt Quantrill. Surprised someone wanted to give something up for him knowing he'd go on waivers anyway. Do May and Redding really count for anything??

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) So much can go into that. Teams played, rotation, home/way, etc. Without a little more research it is, on the surface, very interesting, and for Frank's fans, something really cool. There's definitely a lot that goes into it but Frank makes the lineup so much better when he's in there and that's most likely the reason that record is so damn good. If we're talking about lineup changes Dye or Carl should be batting cleanup not Pauly but that's jmo.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) If the 3 hole is an RBI slot you want Frank there over anyone else on the team. He's getting an RBI in a little more than every 4 at bats. Only Everett is close in that respect. Frank has an OPS of 1.001 right now. He's getting on base enough that the way he's hitting for power I can't complain with him at the 3. He's not hitting badly enough where he's hurting the team (hurting the team with an OPS over 1?!) and he gets the most out of working through his troubles this way. Bingo, also Frank will hit much better then this I'll gurantee you that. By the time this season is all set and done he'll be hitting .260-.270 with an obp probably right around or over .400. Frank imo is still the best hitter we have.

This is worth a shot for the Pads, May and Redding are horrendous, Quantrill has been good most of his career, so why not take a chance if your san diego?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Thats the thing, they don't need 2 lefties. Teams can go without them plenty of times. Walker is useless so why have him up just because he's a lefty. Ozzie is just sticking to someone he saw in Tuscon and thats not the best approach in this case. Wilder and Kenny both must know that Jenks/Baj are better options, even if they aren't lefties. Walker is absolutely pathetic and doesn't deserve to sniff a major league roster. Get up someone like Baj or Jenks who can at least help the club in this type of game and at the same time get their feet wet. Both of them are lightyears better than Walker, even if they aren't left handed. Hell, Arnie Munoz is struggling, but if the Sox want a lefty I'd rather see Arnie than Walker. Arnie has better stuff and well frankly he's not Kevin Walker. Right, honestly who gives a crap about another lefty at this point, you need to be able to throw strikes and be able to get big league hitters out. I'd much rather Baj or Jenks up here or even Munoz atleast he has big league stuff.

Contreras no doubt is rough to watch and frusterating as all hell, however he's been perfectly fine htis year and before his last 4 starts he was actually pretty damn awesome. I have no problem with him being here as a 4th or 5th starter, I will say however that I wouldn't want him starting a playoff game if the sox get there. If the Sox do get in the playoffs they're either going to have to go to a 3 man rotation, trade for another starter, or take our chances with el duque doing what he normally does in October. I have no part with the latter if he can proves he can still pitch at a high level after the allstar break.

I'm going to ask one more question, hopefully I'm not bothering you. How has his control been as of late, is he always getting ahead of hitters, is he keeping his walks down??

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) He was tonight no one could have touched the 100 on the outside black after seeing 3 12-6 curves, When I say no one that includes Major Leaguers that pitch was sick. After the game Isenia went over to his coach and asked him what he should have done the coach said there was nothing you could have done, one of the most memorable quotes I have heard this season. Awesome, I'm just very intrigued by Jenks when he's throwing 100 and you say his best pitch is his curve that's just nasty. I appreciate the info as always.

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) Barons 8 Montgomery 7 W- LaMura L-Autrey Sv- Jenks (18) A very exciting game a 5 run 5th was the key to the victory all started with 2 out none on Rogowski Doubled to Right, Young drew a walk, Sweeney drove a pitch high and deep to Center which I though was a homer but it was a 412 ft Triple that tied it at 4 then Aceves singled to left to make 5-4 Fields was hit by a 2-0 pitch and Blakely hit a ringing double off the LF wall both would have been long gone in Chicago. Barons Grabbed what turned to be the game winning run when Owens lead off with what appered to be triple off the RF wall but ruled a Ground Rule double instead, Gonzalez singled up the middle to score Jerry. Reynoso made things very interseting in the 8th a lead off single then a long homerun to Shawn Riggins then got a flyout then a strike out of Luis Mateo but a single to Johnny Rayburn set up an awsome matchup with Delmon Young, Razor left Reynoso in who gave up a single their next hitter is vetran Rico Washington a good hitter in his own right Jenks was called in after a 100 MPH taken strike to make a 1-2 count Jenks broke off a 12-6 and that was the end of the inning. In the 9th after a groundout and flyout Charion Isenia stood in the way first pitch was a Curve fouled off then another curve called strike, fouled a third curve off then waisted on a second 100 MPH fastball on the outside black that Isenia swung and missed at. Also to mention B.J. Lamura also pitched well. Johnathan Aceves was 3-4 Owens 2-5 and Rogo 2-4. Wow, would you consider Jenks almost unhittable at this point BHAM??
