QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) I think Verlander is going to be a real good one, him and Bonderman can be a dangerious 1-2 punch for many years to come. The nice thing about Bonderman is they brought him up so early that this is what already his 3rd year in the bigs?? There's a chance they can lose him when he's just entering his prime.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Thank you. Charlotte with an early 3-0 lead vs. Schilling. Meh, that Schilling guy is a scrub. EDIT: Ross already has a double and is hitting .421 now. I think he's ready, Kenny.

Top 3 starters central to plan of altered rotation
Rowand44 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Like I said, this just proves that there is no faith in Contreras and Duque/McCarthy. If they're setting up the schedule so that they have to face the Central as little as possible, that's saying something. ....and I'll ask again why wouldn't you want your top 3 starters starting against your division, whether they have faith in Jose or not, it makes perfect sense to have your best guys go against your division. -
I'm not sure if this was already posted or if I'm posting this in the right place but a big piece of the Tigers future is on the mound tonight with Verlander. Unfortunately he's pitching during the Sox game so I'm going to have to miss it but if anyone is interested just thought I'd let you know. If this belongs in talking baseball, sorry mods.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) The more balls in play, the better chance for a higher BAPIP. It's good to know that his sinker is working, but I'd rather have him K more guys to know that they really don't know/recognize what he's throwing... Well I think the fact that he's producing ground balls is more indicative that he knows what he's doing out there. Usually when sinkerballers start striking out more guys they're over throwing which will result in a few more k's but the ball won't be biting down as much also resulting in more hits. Personally with a sinkerballer I'd rather see more groundballs then k's but that's just me and as always we disagree.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Didn't say it was. But since I rarely get to see these guys pitch, all I really get to look at are the stats; and generally, a better K/9 means you're doing a better job fooling the hitters. It's not that his K/9 is really low -- but it not being really high, combined with his walks, has me concerned. I'll back off, 'cause I'm not gonna act like an expert when I'm clearly not -- I'm just saying I'd like to see that number go up a little bit. If he's a sinkerballer it's probably a better sign if he's not striking out a ton of guys.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Over the last month, I for one have changed my view on Joe, and feel an upgrade is not needed. He has played great D of late, and I beleive in June he hit almost .280. If we can get that out of Joe for the rest of the year, get his average up to around .260, I will happy with Joe. I am a big fan of Uribe, but he is starting to worry me. Has not yet found his swing yet, and it's already July. It scares me he is never going to find it. If he were to get hot, it would ignite the whole offense. Ditto about Joe. Remember last year Juan struggled big time this part of the year, the difference is he wasn't nutso hot to start this year like he was last year. I'll take Joe and Juan hitting 8th and 9th because of their gloves, I have no problems with that. With Shingo back to form I don't think adding a bullpen arm is that big a need, a replacement of Viz should still happen if he continues to struggle but I think Baj or Jenks could do a fine job as the last guy out of the pen. All of this is with the bullpen is with the impression that Damaso returns healthy and strong, if not another lefty is a must. For me if there is an upgrade to be had it would probably be a starting pitcher, I'd love to have a guy who can be our 4th starter in a playoff series if we get there. I have no problem with Contreras as our 4th starter currently but I would not want him starting a playoff game, jmo.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) More and more it sounds like nobody has faith in Contreras or Duque. Well I'm sure they're frusterated with him like the rest of us but why the heck wouldn't you want your top 3 pitching against your division?? That makes perfect sense whether they have faith in Jose or not.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) We've gotta take care of business at home against these guys. I don't want the Twins gaining anymore ground on us before the break. Hopefully this is where we can gain some ground back on them. They got LAA and we have Tampa. We lost 1 game on this road trip, considering they played KC and Tampa and we had to play at the freakin Colleseum, that ain't all bad.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Found this in the Cubune and found it funny.. did anyone see this?? Firing back In the top of the ninth, a group of A's fans dressed as an astronaut, a tooth fairy, Santa Claus, a mermaid and a dinosaur held up a sign that read "We don't believe in Carl Everett." The Sox's left fielder, who made controversial comments about homosexuals and fans in last month's Maxim magazine, has said he believes dinosaurs never roamed the earth.. I wish I could have seen that as well.

Time to bounce back. Hopefully we can get to Nomo early and let Bmac settle in like his last outing. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) Ha thats the exact reason why I have never been them, but I figure i'll give them a shot to switch it up a bit. P.S. I will not trade you Mark Bellhorn... by the way, is this league going to be using ootp 6.5 or what? Think you can hop on aim for a sec?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) You don't even want to know how many times I've voted tonight. Let's just say Pods and Oswalt have gotten some help from me. That's what I like to hear.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) I have never been the Red Sox in an online league. Maybe I'll give them a shot.. I'd recommend not doing that. Well maybe it'd be different for you but when I was the Sox in one of these it was to hard for me to make trades cause you're like attached to the players.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) It was probably a couple guys from WSI who went to the Phillies board, they have a hard on for Myers. You stuffin the boxes yet?????????

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Uribe has been sucking it up and pabs is showing he is a decent player but the giants signed vizquel for a reason. Trading Uribe is a no no.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) I just found this on the SF Giants MLB.com messageboard: SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Jason Schmidt was traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Chicago White Sox, a blockbuster deal Monday that further bolstered the White Sox revamped rotation The Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees were rumored to be pursuing Schmidt, but the White Sox swooped in and got the Giant ace for Shortstop Juan Uribe , pitcher Jose Contreras and prized prospect Brandon Mccarthy. Schmidt's now-former teammate J.T. Snow spoke in an interview with ESPN Radio. "The two of us had lockers next to each other for the last 4 years," Snow said. "You kind of figure something like this is going to happen, but it's not as much about losing a guy on your team, it's about losing one of your best friends." I dont know where it came from but it looks legit unless someone is a very clever troll. LOL, nothing from those message boards are ever real.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) Loiza + Bmac + Tracey is more like it. I'm trying to think of a mid-level position player who might be included. KW DO NOT INCLUDE CHRIS YOUNG!!! Some guy in SF said one of the Sox beatwriters was on the radio and said that Bmac and Anderson are untouchable. Who knows if that's true.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:52 PM) They had sex to seal the deal? Did you mean that to be a question or just a joke? I was just ragging on wealz but I was serious about calling Coopock or whatever this guys name is.
