  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) Guys, vote the real way. This scripts aren't there just to try and stop people from cheating, they will have scripts set up to check and throw out certain votes. Its definately possible and why risk it. Exactly, listen to this man.
  2. I'm going to Cleveland because with Redd, Bron and Z they have a legit shot to make noise out east. This would be an easy choice for me.
  3. Garland is always laid back and usually a boring interview and Mark probably didn't want to say anything controversial because of how the "Maddux" thing blew up. But I say to this whole thread, who cares
  4. We've played 3 teams that as of right now would be in the playoffs and we have a winning record against all 3 of them.
  5. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Why is that, I mean this would be my first year on the job and by our current GM track record I have 4 years of f***ing up before I could get it right. I'm sure you've been an armchair gm much longer then 4 years.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) Get better from what?? We would only need him for half a season. Get better from 03. It's hard for me to believe that a 40 year old pitcher has improved so much, again Clemens isn't your average person but still I just don't see that as very realistic, I could definitely be wrong though.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Doesnt matter what he did then, its what he does NOW, and what he has now is a 1.41 in a hitters park. If you want to sit back and make sure we have some question mark minor leaguers for the next few years, thats you, I for one, would sell the barons for a WS title. Our minor leaguers dont exactly have the best track record coming up anyway, who says they are worth jack s***? Our top prospect just came up and tanked, the track record speaks the trend is that. So you wouldnt trade some serious question marks for the best pitcher in the NL? Thats honestly sad, I want to win now, and this is the team to do it, is there anyone else who wants a WS title? We know from the 85 bears that we can live on it for at least 20 years if not more. Here's the thing though Rock do you really think a 40 year old pitcher would get that much better??? It's seems a bit far fetched, now obviously Clemens isn't the average pitcher but it still seems unlikely.
  8. Cabrera's obp is .294 and Anthrax you were campaigning for him to be our 2 hitter :puke
  9. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) 180 degree turn for the better actually
  10. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Now that I read that, you are right it makes sense for both teams.. We have no one in the system that would entertain FLA.. Schimdt no thanks And there is not one other SP I would want that I heard about we would give up way to much to get something back. We should have signed lowe or clement in the offseason and we would not have to worry anymore. You know what Anthrax, I think it's hard for people to take you serious when all of your posts are either bashing Kenny or Polanco or saying sign Cabrera. Yeah, Cabrera sucks and Polanco is really, really good.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Dude you gotta share your rigging tactic so pods can win this thing. It's a program he has, I already asked
  12. I actually agree with milkman here. I'd take Clemens don't get me wrong but I wouldn't give up the world for him. He was an above average pitcher his last 5 or so years in the american league but he wasn't special. I'd still love to have the guy but I wouldn't want to give up the farm for him but that's just me.
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) But the thing is Freddy had perfectly good numbers in Seattle before he was traded to Chicago, Schmidt doesn't. And Freddy has a 4.53 ERA at home and a 2.44 ERA away BTW. El Duque is another, 6.49 ERA at home (ouch), and a 3.72 ERA away. Schmidt also has a G/F ratio of 0.99, which is not good at all. To put that into context, Garcia has a G/F ratio of 1.37. I knew you were going to counter with that argument You're exactly right, once again I'd love Schmidt because I believe his stuff is still there and he can revert back to the past few years form, I think his next 2-3 starts you'll really start to see him dominating but time will tell.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) See I don't get all of this Schmidt is an "ACE" talk. Sure he WAS an ace over the past few seasons, but he has really sucked this season, plus he'll be moving from SBC park, where his splits are better, to US Cellular Field, and look what that has done to pitchers like Brandon McCarthy. Bmac is a bad example because he was struggling in aaa. While the park is obviously a homerun haven, Freddy did exactly what Schmidt would have to do and he's doing just fine.
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) And BMac and Duque make much less than him too. That has to be taken into consideration. We have money to spend this year and most likely starting pitcher will be the place upgraded if anything is upgraded, money shouldn't be an issue at all here. If Schmidt returns to ace form you pick up his option, if not you buy him out for 3-3.5 mill. I guarantee you the money isn't a problem here it's just who we'd have to give up.
  16. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) Adam Dunn Not if a lefty is pitching
  17. Well, interesting move but I'm really, really excited to see Bobby pitch. Anyone think Kenny has something against the futures game, we always have 1 or 0 guys there.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) The fact that the team is now talking about Schmidt really makes me think he's coming here. Well they asked him about it and he just answered the question.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) My satellite is cutting out cause of the rain, but was there anything of interest in that segment about possibly trading for Schmidt? Not really, Hermy talked about how Schmidt wouldn't ruin chemistry, he said they wouldn't let anyone ruin chemistry otherwise they'd throw the guy into the corner. Then ozzie just talked about it saying a lot of teams want Schmidt, blah, blah, blah.
  20. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Hoping for not another 4th of July nightmare vs. DRays. That Crawford homer was a dagger in my heart. Why'd you have to bring that up
  21. The Sod Father getting some airtime. He says game will start around 7:15 and no more rain after that.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) I don't see the problem. My thoughts are what type of situation is he being brought into. If your coming from A ball into a pennant race, than its a bad thing. If your promoting him to the majors and telling him you expect up and downs and that you want him to learn and develop himself, than not a problem in my book. He's lit things up in his first full professional season and he's coming into a little pressure situation. Its like the opposite of Brandon McCarthy who has to come up and pitch in the thick of things and therefor any losses are magnified and a team is less capable/likely to put up with a few rough patches during the development. Lucky for the Sox and Brandon, there has been an injury and Brandon will be able to get his feet continually wet here and get one more start in. He also has a lot less pressure since the club is winning and the rest of the rotation is pretty much kicking butt (sans Contreras previous few starts). This stint up for Brandon will be even more helpful when he's back up later in the year of if he sticks in the pen. And I'd be the first to say Brandon still has a lot to work on, but I'm also going to be the one that continues to say how good Brandon will be and that the Sox will be rewarded this year in some way shape or form. That does make a lot of sense. I just turned on the game on mlb.tv this is my first time watching him pitch, I'm interested to see how he looks.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) Verlander can throw as hard as anyone else in the majors, save perhaps his mate Kyle Farnsworth. He's gonna be good and the Tigers will be too next year. Do you think they're rushing him a little to much, wasn't he in A ball just this year or do you think he's ready??
