    QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Plus his first name rocks. :puke
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) No doubt about it. I'm talking about power arm of course. Lummy has an outstanding fastball with some good movement on it. Gio has the better curve, but I have more questions about Gio than most. Of course they are mainly because of potential durability problems, but I also think he needs to be careful that he doesn't rely too much on the curve because at the major league level hitters won't chase his curve and he'll have to be able to spot his fb and change (which I've heard are pretty good at times). The thing that kills me about Lummy is he's barely been healthy since joining the org. This is just my random opinions. I also happen to think Sean Tracey has the best arm in the org this side of Bobby Jenks (in terms of minor league prospects). Thanks. I'm interested to see what Lumsden can do when he gets back. Hopefully when he gets back he can stay healthy.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) 04 was a good draft. Only pick I hated and still hate was the Whisler pick. I've seen him pitch and he has the ability to throw a lot of pitches and he's got a good arm, but I just don't see any one real good pitch nor does he have the command. Of course he's in the lower levels for a reason and everyone knew he was raw. I know the Sox like his potential a lot and I guess we will see. The guy I probably like the most of that draft class pitching wise is Lumsden. He's got the best left handed arm in the system when healthy. Looking forward to a week or two from now when he rejoins the bullpen and eventually a rotation. I have not seen Tyler pitch but he has a better arm then Gio??

    QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) I guess you could say that. But he said Jenks used a Change up which he doesn't have. Don't correct me b****! I'll correct you if I want ass But you're right he doesn't throw a change.

    QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Probably because he has no offspeed stuff. He's a flamethrower. 1.) 97+ Fastball with movement 2.) 12-6 hard 85 MPH Curve - out pitch 3.) Hard sinker that he learned this year and bearly pitches Curveball=offspeed pitch.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:58 AM) Statistics cannot do justice for the contribution that Tadahito Iguchi has made to this team this year. I wish someone had a statistic for how many times that Tads has moved Pods to 3rd with one or no outs in an inning this year. He ALWAYS seems to get the job done. He has been incredible. I also wonder how many ABs he has given up by moving Pods along with a groundball to the rightside. I would be willing to bet he would still be at .300 if you gave him back all of those chances. He always, always, always gets the job done getting scotty over to 3rd. He's been a perfect 2 hitter, I can't even imagine where we'd be this year without him and Scotty, they've been absolutely fantastic at the top of the order.
  7. Happy bday Brandon, eat something god damn it.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) Gammons is going to report rumors and stuff he hears through the grapevine. That's part of his job. Not all of which are going to pan out. He also mentioned the Nats as pushing hard from Guardado. He could end up there as well as in Chicago. Right. I just won't ever forget when he said the Sox had traded for Ortiz and then it didn't happen. But you're 100 percent right that's his job. I'm not going to bash him for telling rumors he's heard whether they pan out or not.
  9. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Excellent post. I understand what's been echoed earlier in this thread that no one player is bigger than the team. I totally agree with that, but I'd have a lot of trouble seeing the Sox lose Frank before he's ready to end his career. We need a Thomas smilie. I'd be devistated if Frank didn't finish his career here but you can't pick up his option because it's bad for the team as a whole. I'm sure they're going to get this done where everyone is happy, I'm just saying I don't want to overpay for Frank just cause he's Frank. Trust me though I want to see him finish his career here as much as you.
  10. QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) um are you joking.. you guys need to stop using the "I thought the Sox would be good" theres no way anyone thought the Sox would be 30 games over and the best team in baseball.. The Expos always had some solid foundation they were just stuck in Montreal with no fans moving playing in Puerto Rico and whatever.. they finally get a home and they add some quality players.. Im not too surprised by them, but I am absoloutley shocked by what our team has done.. I thought we would be solid and could win the division yes, but look at our freaking record, we are on pace for over 110 wins this is insane, there is no way this cant be the biggest surprise this season.. A lot of us thought the Sox were going to be very good, this good-well no because this is nuts but either way the Nats are still the biggest surprise, the Nats were a team most thought would finish last in that division and they're winning the east right now.
  11. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) I love Kenny Williams but if he cannot find a way to make Thomas stay here for life, especially with the increased attendance and a possible deep playoff run here, I will be one pissed mo'focker.....under no circumstances should Thomas be allowed to walk from the Sox. Do whatever it takes. Period. I'll say this again, I love Frank as much as anyone here. I'd be extremely sad if he didn't finish his career here, however you don't jeopardize your team financially just because he's Frank Thomas. The White Sox>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> an infinite amount of those more important then Frank. That being said hopefully Frank and Kenny can come to a fair agreement.

    QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) OK, he's faced 4 batters. Take it easy. People aren't excited about him because he had 1 nice inning, it's the fact he has a tremendous arm, one of the best you'll find in all of baseball.

    QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Anyone else see this as an audition for a trade? Just a thought. It could be but it's just so hard to give up an arm like that. We'll see, you could be right but I'd venture to guess that he'll be in the White Sox organization for a while.

    QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) I read somewhere today that Boston might make a push for Everyday Eddie...and that's a move that makes as much sense for that team as anything else in the big leagues. They need a reliever much, much more then we do.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) I just can't imagine Frank gone, especailly if the team goes its seperate ways with Paul and Carl, which in my mind I think they will. Paul seems to be turning into a one trick pony. This is what I think will happen. Pauly and Carl go and the sox renegotiate with Frank and get him a new contract. I want him to finish his career here but we can't just give him anything he wants. I love Frank but no player is above the team so hopefully this gets done but at the right price.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) So you wouldn't mind if his option was picked up? You should pay his option
  17. Rowand44 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
    He's perfectly fine as a 4th starter.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) He broke the Carl Everett trade to the Sox the first time around. He also broke the Russ Ortiz to the Sox deal, er...wait a sec. I'm sure Kenny is going after him, he wants to make an impact move if he makes a move at all. We'll see what happens though.
