3 Way trade????
Day's got a good arm and has been a pretty solid pitcher in his career. I wouldn't mind him but I don't want to give up much to get him. It doesn't sound like Colorado wants much in return for Wilson so we'll see I guess. Beck could be right as well though, maybe Day would be used as part of a deal for someone like Burnett where the Marlins would want a starting pitcher in return since they're still in the race.

POD's Girlfriend
QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) If I had a girl like that I'd bat 600 and steal 200 bases a year and never get thrown out Maybe if you bat .600, steal 200 bases and never get thrown out you'll get a girl like that.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Just because my Jenks thread has been turned into a thread about my Melinda, we might as well make a separate thread. ^ ^ ^ And that my friends, is why you watch. Johanna is pretty damn fine too..... Not a fan, not that hot imo.

Preserving Memories
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) I'm going to order SI to get that box they always put together when a team wins a championship. That'll be the only reason I order SI. If the White Sox win the world series I'd be screwed financially, every penny I have would be gone. Oh well.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) That was my main beef. In the first AB, he took a high and outside pitch the other way... WHY? In the second AB, he looked scared to fail again, so he left the bat on his shoulder and watched 3-0 and 3-1 pitches that could have easily be grounded to the right side. He fought off one tough pitch, then took a pitchers pitch looking for the walk again. It would have been fine with me if he struck out in both at bats swinging too early at change-ups, because then I at least know that he was up there with a plan to hook everything. As it was, his only plan was "hope to not screw up", and that's a sure fire way to ensure you are going to screw up. It was the same thing with the SBs last season. He just didn't have the confidence to get the job done. I'm 100 percent with you on this. You know what, you're going to fail at the physical part of the game at times but his head wasn't into the game, I just don't understand what he was thinking up there and that's just inexcusable in my mind.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
Numbers wise, Timo is better then Willie now, which ain't saying much. My thoughts of Willie really went down tonight and yes I know it's one game but the thing is I just don't know where his head was. He was trying to shoot the ball into left field in those situations where he either should have bunted or just yanked something. Saying all that, Willie is still the more valuable player in my opinion because of his ability to pinch run but if Gooch needs a day off it needs to be Pablo hitting in that 2 hole.

TRADE THREAD II ~ July 2 - July 8
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) He did, however, advance a runner from first to second with a nice sac bunt, so he could have batted second in our line-up tonight and been a great help.

7/8 Games
Getz's obp down to .654 EDIT: Scrath that, that was from yesterday but you get the picture, he's been good so far. I know everyone is saying he'll probably move through the ranks pretty quickly and I'd have to agree.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) LOL this is the funiest. Subtract these 3 guys from the team, replace them with real major leaguers, and we have a few more wins this season. That we're congratulating them on a well played game tells you how bad we were tonight. They were both good tonight, hate them as much as you want but they did their jobs tonight.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
This was just a blah game. If Tadahito is in there this is probably a victory, Willie was horrendous today. Scott's on 2nd twice with nobody out, he doesn't even attempt a bunt(he showed the first time but didn't attempt one) then he doesn't even try hooking the ball to get Scotty over, he was trying to push the ball to the left side for some reason, I don't know what was going through his mind. Sorry about this mini rant and I'm not against Willie or anything like that but he was awful, absolutely awful today.

TRADE THREAD II ~ July 2 - July 8
How'd Schmidt look tonight?? By his numbers it looked like he pitched pretty solid against a great lineup, I was out and didn't have a chance to see him pitch. For anyone who saw him pitch how'd he look??

How many games up do we need to be in July
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) I believe Santana hasn't won a game in a month. Look what he did in the 2nd half last year. All I'm saying to everyone is never count out the Twins, I think we would have all learned that by now. People were saying the same things about them last year too "they're not the same team, they're just not as good," etc. I've just learned never to count those guys out, you just can't.

How many games up do we need to be in July
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Since June 1st, the Twins have been 17-16. They lost 5 series in a row, including a home series against SF and a road series at Milwaukee. Their only prolonged winning streak was when they had KC and TB back to back at home and they won 7 of 8. Then they up and lost 2 games at LAA and dropped last night's game at KC. ....and?? The Twins always make their run in the 2nd half, don't be surprised if Ryan makes one deal that sparks them on a roll, it's happened before it can definitely happen again.

How many games up do we need to be in July
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) I really don't understand how people thought the 2005 Twins were very good. I've been saying since opening day I thought Cuddyer and Morneau were way overrated simply because of the organization that groomed them. Rivas looks like he's gonna be out of the majors any day now. Their starting pitching is pretty damn mediocre. They just don't have what it takes to make any kind of prolonged run. They might finish with 89-90 wins, but that's the very top of the range I put them at. More realistically, I think they'll finish with 85-86. They've been treading water at about 9 over for about a month now. They'll be in the playoffs one way or another, I'd be willing to bet on that.

How many games up do we need to be in July
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) yeah, I know pessimism springs eternal...but I can't remember a team ever choking a lead that big? First time I've been called a pessimist I just refuse to count the Twins out, I will never think those guys are done until the magic number is 0.

GAME THREAD 7-8-2005 SOX vs A's
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) 3 wins = 60 wins by the break 26 more wins = last year's win total already. Good Lord, how good are we? It all starts tonight with Jon and win #14. I may even be seeing it in person. Let's get some revenge againsts these A's-sholes! Putting something into perspective, the Sox had more wins by the end of June then the Dbacks had all of last season. Obviously Arizona was horrendous last year but that's still unreal.

How many games up do we need to be in July
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) I personally think the Sox really almost have the division locked up despite their tough August schedule and the number of games they have left with the Twinkies. Once the lead got to 10-11 games I started feeling a lot more comfortable. I think if the lead gets to 13 games, you can pretty much book it. What do you guys think? Until that magic number hits 0, nothing's a lock.

TRADE THREAD II ~ July 2 - July 8
For those that think chemistry is overrated--I really disagree. There are teams that have won that don't like each other, no doubt, however there are also teams like this current one who like each other so much that they play harder then they ever have before. These guys will run through walls for each other and the manager and the general manager. It's something special the sox have going on the field and off the field. If the Sox are going to make the trade it'll be for someone that fits in. The good thing is that Dustin and AJ know what Schmidt's personality is like and ditto with Ozzie and Burnett. If and when the Sox make a trade it'll be for a good character guy, I can guarantee that.

TRADE THREAD II ~ July 2 - July 8
Schmidt will have a very good outing tonight against the Cards, I'm fairly confident in saying that.

Hermanson Article
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) You'd be excited too if you saw what he was throwing. He's right though. Jenks stuff is as impressive as there is in baseball, however we do have to expect some rough spots from him this year. Who knows, maybe he will be this years krod and just dominate the whole year but just don't expect him to be lights out, just yet.

7/7 Games
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Honel= :puke I'm still not givin up on him. Why does Borchard do this to us every year? He goes on these super hot streaks that always give us some simmer of hope that he's FINALLY figured it out. What a tease. To be honest, I thought he was going to be very good in Charlotte this year as well. His swing this spring training was so much shorter and compact then it's ever been. Unfortunately you put it very well, he's become a tease.

7/7 Games
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Holy s***. On base all 7 plate appearances? That's insane. I knew this guy would tear up the lower levels, but it's becoming hard for me to not get excited over this guy. Is there any doubt it's my avy?? I think not.
