QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) What time is the selection show? I've been gone for a few days and have no clue when it starts. Thanks in advance. 6.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Contreras always has good stuff and quite frequently, he sucks. While its a good indicator of how good someone will perform, I'll take great command and mixing speeds over pure stuff anyday. Schmidt, when healthy, is one of the 5 best pitchers in the game. This is when he is clicking on all cylinders. Just look at his game log over this season, he hasn't really put a solid streak of good performances together like he did the past 2 season. Personally, I think the guy is pitching hurt. I agree 100 percent. I was just commenting on his stuff because that might be an indicator that he's getting healthy. As you said a healthy Jason Schmidt is an absolute stud.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) I can't see the Giants trading him without getting 2 of the 3, if not 2 of those guys, and someone like Gio. Gio's to young for Sabean

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) If the price was right....I can say that I think the price minimum would be two of the following three: B-Mac, Sweeney, Anderson. If that is the case, no. I'd also like to see him at least throw a few gems and get his heat back up to a respectable level before we would even consider this. The last I heard, SF said they were going to exercise his option for next year for 10.5 mil. If the package includes two of those three I'm with you completely, no thanks.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) So if today was a good day for Schmidt... what's a bad day's line look like? It was a bad game obviously because he was falling behind every hitter, I said his stuff was good.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) There's only one problem. If he was the Schmidt of the past 2 years, I'd say yes. However, he has a 5.11 era in the NL and has already had a DL stint this year. He is not, at least to this point, an outstanding starter. Well boz obviously my scouting report means nothing but his stuff was good today. I was watching the game on mlb.tv and he had a fastball moving all over the place, a nasty splitty and a good late breaking curveball. Today was just one of those games pitchers have, home plate was jumping around on him and he was just 2-0 on a bunch of hitters. If the price is right, I'd personally love to have him. Once again what I think means nothing though.

So anyone else agree we wont see Mark make another error all season?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Just gotta bounce back strong. They always do.

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) This game went the A's way when we had Ozuna on with a bunt hit and a steal, then we got him over to 3rd with Widgers bunt but we did not score. Then Buerhle had a mental lapse and threw the ball away on a traditional double play where the A's scored 4 times. I noticed that yesterday when Garland had the bases loaded he forgot about it and got the guys out. Buerhle kept on giving up hits to all four runs to score. Atleast we get out of Oakland tonight and we got the Devil Rays at home. Since when did Widger become Japanese???

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Well that's just it, you're right. Oakland executed today with 15 hits so far but the White Sox handed it to them in the first game and now this. It will happen in a long season. Frustrating to be sure, but these things happen every year to just about every team. Right, over 162 games these type of games are going to happen and they just always happen when we're at Oakland. We're just going to have to shake this off and go beat up on the Drays. Everytime this team has a tough series they bounce back, no worries here at all.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Well however you wanna call it, these trade ideas always come up after we play a bad game. I'll look at it my way, it'll help me sleep at night

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) The other thing as DA alluded to is, Zito was on his game today and the offense couldn't do anything, or should I say they didn't get anything done. Not a good offensive performance but I will give credit to Zito. And Buehrle was scuffling, I am glad to get the hell out of there. One thing I am hellaciously pissed about is the positioning of Iguchi on Kendall's basehit. That square faced Kendall has made a living out of rolling base hits between 1st and 2nd. DJ was dead on correct, there is no reason for Iguchi playing over by 2nd base. As milkman said, what the hell kind of scouting was that? May I suggest bad advance scouting. Buehrle wasn't working Kendall inside either. That was terrible positioning, absolutely horrendous, I don't think you'd get an argument from anyone here.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) We don't need another pitcher. We lose a few games to the hottest team over the past month and you're calling for a guy with chronic arm problems and a huge option for next season. We will use 3 starters in the playoffs, possibly 4 in a long series. We don't need Schmidt. No offense but we didn't lose to the A's we lost to ourselves.

Guys, everything is going to be ok, Kevin Walker is warming up.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) And Vizcaino still sucks. I hate these games where there's absolutely no silver lining. Viz has to go soon, we can't have such a terrible pitcher on our team when we're still not sure how Shingo will be. Perhaps if we get Schmidt, we can get Eyre with him. Oh there is a silver lining, you what it is it?? We don't have to play in Oakland anymore this year.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) I wasn't going to say it until that at-bat was over. Now the game is officially over. Go back to your regularly scheduled activities. This is my only scheduled activity for today, now what do I do??

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Rooney makes a great point. We've played 6 times in Oakland in each of the past two seasons, yet they've only played us at home 3 times each of those years. Someone f***ed up the schedule making process. That's just pure bulls***. That's really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, not fair.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) After next weekend, we are done with Oakland for the season. After the way they've played us the past few seasons, 2-4 to this point is better than anything we've seen in a while. We need to beat them at home 2 out of 3 next weekend. All I know is this f***in place needs to be blown up.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) sorry. let me counter that witty remark. i don't have a walnut-sized brain. i'll be sure to only post rah-rah stuff. oh, your father, too. Just a question: How many games a year do you watch?
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) I'm almost glad I can't see this game. Being dominated by the has been T-Ball stand makes me want to vomit in my throat while Buherle once again chokes and misses the Ace level... :puke Zito has been real good his last few starts and real good today.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) I'm just saying it because it's true. Jeez, take it easy. I'm sorry the ASG has been talked about way to much around here, I feel like some of you care about how many allstars we have more then winning games.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) I turned it off. There's now no way Buehrle starts the ASG. After the way Halladay pitched in front of Francona and how Buehrle performed today, there's no chance he gets the nod. That's not a shot at Buehrle, either. Who the f*** gives a s***.
-
Wow. Good pitch there as well.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) Jesus H look at that f***ing hole on the right side... QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) We have a shift on Kendall, ???? That was retarded.
