  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 10, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) I just have to laugh at the Griffey trade idea. Do you have any idea what his contract looks like? Ya, that won't ever happen. Plus if he did come here, he'd be injured in the first week.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 10, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Terry Ryan was a GM of a 4th to last place team for 9 f***ing years before the Twins won the division. I can only imagine how some of you would be reacting if KW was here for 9 years without being able to put a team on the field that could finish in at least THIRD place. Thank you, I knew it was a long time but I couldn't remember how long.
  3. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 10, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) DING DING DING.. we Have a winner.. John S is the best GM in baseball, you don't win your Division year in and year out as much as the braves have without a great GM. Beane is a close 2nd, He made a great deal getting rid of Hudson and Mulder, he knew that they would not be able to resign them, so he retooled the SP..Yeah it might suck now, but give it till next year at the break.. then talk to me about how overrated he is. Now to the man we all know and should hate..KW.. One decent offseason does not make him a great GM, lets not forget this is a man who falled for 4 years before this year. Hell all you have to do is go back to the 2004 opening day rotation to further prove this man was in way over his head. 1. MarkY B 2. Loiaza 3. Garland 4. Schoenweiss 5. A PLayer to be named later. Any person with half a baseball brain, well know that you will never win anything with that Rotoation, but this was KW grand plan.. and of course.. Failed. I give credit to this years team to Ozzie, for him standing up and saying.. HEY DIPs***.. this team of lets outslug everyone is not the forumla for sucess( though the Red SOx might have something to say about that) SO KW was force to change the make-up of the team.. and wow it is winning.. Something that I have only been calling for since the 2002 season. One decent offseason?? The sox are the best team in baseball right now. Sure he didn't make the playoffs in his first 4 years but the teams were there, 2 of those years injuries just derailed our chances and in 03, that was the best team in the al they just choked. Forget all that for a second and realize that it took beane 3 years to make the playoffs with oakland and I believe it took Terry Ryan something like 5 or 6 years to get there were Minny(Not sure on that one). You need to give a gm some time to get his team on the field.
  4. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 10, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Fish you rowand.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 10, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Who is that picture next to the Widger one? Wagner.
  6. Yup, count me in. Dye will get it going, no doubt in my mind.
  7. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ May 10, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Time to start another streak. How about more than 8. All right don't want to be greedy. How about 130 Jose has to step it up tonight and I think he will. GO SOX!!!!
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) I will take credit for widger. I knew he was just playing softball in his hometown so i gave kw a call and said we need to give this guy a shot. Worked out well. So you're going to win executive of the year then, congrats.
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) Cristian Guzman, and his awesome OBP, was stolen for only $4 mill a year. What a steal Only double the price of Iguchi.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) Jim bowden should win gm of the year... vinny castilla and all. But I thought for sure Kenny would be a lock for you, considering the widge pickup.
  11. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Of course, Billy Wagner... Never heard of him EDIT: By the way this is an interesting comparison right now between the sox and twins. I agree the sox have a bit advantage in the rotation then it kind of gets interesting. Both bullpens are very deep and very good, obviously the wild card is how Rincon returns. The twins have that dominate closer which the sox don't have, however they have a bunch of guys that can close games. As of right now I'd give a slight advantage to Minny because of Nathan, however if shingo gets back to form which I still think he will then well that might switch the balance of power to the sox as far as the bullpens go. Getting to the lineups, right now the twins no doubt have the better of the middle of the order, however I'd take the top of the sox order over almost anyones right now. I also love what the sox have down in the lineup and would take the bottom of the lineup of ours over minny's also. This is going to be a fun race, no doubt. Hopefully the sox will be the ones on top this year.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Eric milton would be an awesome pick-up.
  13. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) There are going to be pitchers available around the deadline, like there are every year. If Baltimore needs another pitcher, I'm sure they'll look to make the move. I know but their starting pitching is still going to be to weak imo to actually win that divison. I think they'll hang around for a while but faulter around mid to late august because of lack of depth whether they trade for a starter or not. The twins are a far superior team to Baltimore this year, imo.
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 9, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) They will not go away, and they could be a 95-100 win team. The scary thing is, they are that good. For once this year I'm actually not worried about the sox beating themselves like they have in years past but I am worried about the twins beating us. That being said I still think the sox are the superior team and will win the division but I guarantee anyone that Minny isn't going anywhere. I would also be willing to put money on the wild card coming out of the central this year, I've said this before I really think the two best teams in the al might be in the central this ear.
  15. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) I thought the answer was obvious enough. Widger. Pujols. Pierz. Is pierz too high? I think Widger might be to low, or Pujols to high, one or the other for sure, maybe both.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) Wow, the Urinal has cleared out rather quickly before the game is even over. Surprised?? Beer sales cut off 2 innings ago.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) You have not seen enough of widger apparently. :headshake Answer my question, damnit
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Widger>>>>>> pierz all around. Don't even try to deny it. Widger>>>>>>Pujols hitting, no?
  19. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Olivo will come around hopefully. I'd take him back as a backup catcher just because of his defense but no way would he take much playing time from AJ. Widger>>>>>Olivo defensively.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Koch dominated at one time too. LaTrocious could just be damaged goods because his ego has been crushed so many times over. Difference between Latroy and Koch is Latroy hasn't lost his stuff his head is just messed up. The thing is though, the same crap happened to him when minny tried him as the closer, get Hawkins a change of scenery and I'd be willing to be he's a totally different pitcher.
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) This loss is certainly nothing to get crazy over. But I am worried about the offense. It's just two inconsistent. I thought the 10 run explosion Saturday would kinda get us going. We have to take advantage of a guy with an era over seven. It's actually been pretty consistant. They've been scoring 4-5 runs in a lot of games, they just don't have those 8-9 run explosions that often.
  22. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 9, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) I wouldn't but it's quite obvious that he needs a change of scenery... BADLY! Well, there's absolutely no doubt about that. But seeing this guy dominate the al the way he did, I'd take him in an absolute heartbeat.
  23. Latroy's head is all messed up. It's amazing cause 2 years ago that guy was absolutely lights out, he was unhittable. I'd still take the guy in a heartbeat, he's the kind of guy that needs a role to be successful.
  24. That's awesome, man. Congratulations.
  25. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 9, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) Singleton was one of the nicest guys I've met in person back in 2000. Upstanding guy, did what was asked of him and filled a hole we had at the time admirably. Yup, he was adequate with the bat and was a pretty damn good defensive center fielder.
