  1. Sox back home after a very good road trip sending Contreras to the mound. Tigers sending Robertson out there, the Tigers have won 4 in a row since being swept in that 2 game series to the sox. It's going to be a pretty cold-rainy night, Go get 'em Jose Hey 2k5 or cap one of you guys want to pin my first gamethread?? Gosh the service around here sucks.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) How's Borchard doing in the minors? I'm too lazy to look it up. I say give rf to Joe B!! He can't hit any worse than Dye and when he connects it'll be a 500 foot bomb. You might wanna check those stats for borch, ain't pretty.
  3. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Ugh. Weren't those 1-0 Esty losses there? I think part of our problem is that Comerica is tought ot jack homers out of so maybe this team will do better with the gapes there, although Maggs and Frank were great gap hitters so it's hard to say. Definitely no Jurassic in the OF allowed Ya, the series starting tomorrow is at the cell though. This current team is much better equipted to win at comerica for reasons you stated, I actually think they'll play real good ball there this year.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Because, it's a good discussion. Don't like it, no need to enter the thread. The Sox don't have to pay a second round pick or a supplamental pick, unlike the past two years, where they've had to spread the money out between the first round picks (Anderson and Fields) and the supplemental picks (Sweeney/Gonzalez/Whistler or Lumsden -- one of the two was a supp, IIRC). The kid's a top ten talent -- IMHO. We can really use some guys up the middle. Why not? I believe Gio and Tyler were supplemental's, I know for a fact gio is don't quote me on lumsden though. I completely agree with you here keith, to me down at 15 and get a talent like drew when we don't have a boatload of early picks like last year would be outstanding imo.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) There's also a reliever who's slowly moving up the charts (if he hasn't already) in Josh Fields -- and not the Josh Fields of last year's first round. Dan, what does Fields throw again (pitches)? Ahem, he said OFFENSIVELY
  6. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) I don't keep up with the minors anywhere close as much as I used to in teh 90s, but do we have anything worth noting offensively in Charlotte right now besides Anderson? Also: Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA Person 3.2 7 8 8 3 4 4 19.64 OUCH LTP and Norton For me, I'm waiting for Lopez to wake his ass up.
  7. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) Person got owned in his Charlotte debut tonight. Box Score Honel 3 IP, 3 R so far. He is toast. Young and Aceves have HR'd. Box Score Dizard struggled in his 1st start, Bakker rocked out of the pen.Box Score Lucas Harrell with 7 shutout innings so far for Kanny. Ricks has drawn 3 walks. He has more walks than hits this season, lol. Box Score Ugh, it's real sad to see Kris fall this far but I agree he's toast, unfortunately.
  8. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) I know. The guy doesn't even move when he's about to get plowed. He just tries to finish off the DP. Scary. This is something I have no clue if it's really true but maybe in Japan the players don't go into 2nd base hard so he's not used to avoiding players down there?
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) You--> Pssh, we'll see about that once I move into your basement.
  10. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) He's not worth the price tag along with the risk that he won't sign until late anyway. Besides, I doubt JR will ever spend a load of money on a draft pick after Borchard, and I can't blame him. You don't need to spend loads of dollars to be successful in the draft. The Sox look like they drafted rather well with their pitchers last year, but it is still quite early. Fair enough.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Aight good news, Carlos who? His last name is Lee.
  12. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) I don't want any part of Stephen Drew at this point. Let the Yankees take him. Why is that Dan?? Cause of the money issues or just something you don't like about him?
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) We don't have a supplamental pick. We don't have a second-round pick. We gotta grab a good one in the first round. If Drew falls there, I don't care if he's a Boras client -- draft him. He was arguably better than Matt Bush last year (or so I've heard), and it'd be nice to have a legit MIF prospect. I'm definitely with you here and I think mostly everyone would be for that, I just don't think it would happen if he fell to us, hopefully it happens though and I'll be proven wrong.
  14. QUOTE(silver and black @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) let me guess... the angel will be bartolo colon DOUGLY ...........and no you're wrong.
  15. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) now im confused You said the Nuggets suck, he's say they're a good team but that San Antonio is the best team in the west and that Denver got a bad matchup. I completely agree with Hammer Head here, Denver's a very good team they just got matched up with the eventual NBA Champs imo.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) If the Sox and Minny stay within 6-7 games of each other till September 1st,(which I would think by all indications will happen) then the whole month with be a toss up. September is just filled with divisional games between KC, the Tribe, Detroit and Minny. I cant see the season being over for either team by Aug. Completely agree. Both teams are way to good this year to fall out of it early this year, imo.
  17. What's with people wanted to get rid of Cliff?? I wouldn't touch this bullpen, it's to fricken good to mess with, imo.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Inning over. Come on Royals find a way to scratch out a run you scrubs. Not gonna happen.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) K by Bartlett. Lew Ford to the plate, probably gonna win it here. Probably with a little bloop to left field.
  20. I stopped following this game when Minny was up 3 to 0. Cmon KC some how pull this out.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I liked you better when you were babybearhater. Uh-oh, bye-bye! HE GONE
  22. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Yep your right Cliff did want to play SS Per RotoWorld.com Jermaine Dye made his first career appearance at shortstop in the ninth inning today. Well, he's hit like a shortstop this year. Dye and middle reliever Cliff Politte both volunteered to play shortstop after Joe Crede was ejected in the eighth. Politte probably would have been the better choice defensively, though the White Sox didn't want his bat in the lineup. Dye did commit an error in the contest, but it happened when he was playing right field. He didn't get a chance at shortstop. Apr. 27 - 6:53 pm et That would have been even more interesting if Cliff played short, we should have put Garland in there, he can probably hit better then Jermaine right now also.
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Oh c'mon. Get real. Dye is a good defensive outfielder and Everett couldn't play good defense if his life depended on it. Dye botched a fly ball. So did that butcher in Minnesota named Torii Hunter. He sucks defensively ... at least based on your comment. Agreed. Dye is sucking right now and there's no way around that but I'm not worried about him at all, he'll hit and he'll hit 30 bombs this year, imo.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Also just to add another point in this thread...un official related. The Sox needed to impliment some hit and runs when things weren't going right. Teams all around baseball (minus the Angels) don't use the hit and run enough. Its a great thing, put your runners in motion, and have a righty or lefty pull it to where the 2nd baseman usually plays. It works beautifully especially when an offense is struggling, like the Sox were (and hitting into so many double plays). When things aren't going right, its not necessarily a bad idea to force the envelope when all you need is maybe 1 more run. Plus you have Kendall behind the plate who is about as bad as it gets in terms of having an accurate arm. He's no Mike Piazza, but he's similar to Pyrz (whom I love) but would try and run on all the time considering the Sox have a few guys on this staff that couldn't hold on runners if there life depended on it. Aside from that I'm happy they had a winning road trip and get to come back home, hopefully the off day gets the banged up players ready (but I have my doubts). I completely agree. I almost think the hit and run should be used everytime aaron's on first and aj's at the plate, that is an unbelievably perfect situation to use it, considering aj's a great contact hitter and aaron has good speed.
  25. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) I vaguely remember being critical of Ozzie last season for the altercation between the two, but I can't for the life of me remember what happened. Oh and let's keep this one clean. The umps didn't cost us the game. Crede shoulda been wrung up on the pitch before. If you want to b**** about the Umps, go type in all caps in another post. This thread is for intelligent discourse. That pitch to Joe was clearly around the outside corner, whatever though.
